That tip about keeping the lure in the strike zone by casting parallel to the bank is why you will always be the best bass channel at least in my opinion
I fish bladed jigs a lot I mean ALOT and I never thought of the profile of the trailer flipping it over. Really smart to think of.. appreciate the video and info.
Once you get more confidence you will love them! If you got a small pond close by where you can catch a lot of bass, that’s the best to grow your confidence in a new lure
Thank you so much for that video. I just asked SIRI “ how do I work a chatter bait?” And your video was the first one but, you explained it all. I didn’t need to watch multiple videos. Thanks again! 😊
I use the Berkley Slobberknocker in wood because it hardly ever gets hung up, but I do love Chatterbaits then again I love tons of lures because I’m a tackle junkie!
Good video, bro... Can't wait for ice-out... Bladed Jig slays on our grass lakes not long after ~ Like the Strike King trailer thought... Love me a Pitboss on the back of mine on our Bluegill lakes ~
My favorite video of yours. And that’s only because I love a chatter bait. This was the first video of yours that I remember seeing. But I really like all your stuff Tyler as I said before
Best youtube chanel out there!! Love your videos, Tyler!! #OhioRepresent!! I looked for a new chatterbait setup after losing 2 at Tappan this past tournament I was using my mh fast ark Lancer. Thanks for the video bro!
Things to concider. Quality attractant thats water based such as proline and procure. Proline has shad, herring, nightcrawler, creyfish and frog. Procure has shrimp, eel shrimp, trout and bloodworm. All quality attractant to have in your arsinal. Along with current wind and environmental trends with varying retrieve speeds and pauses. Key factors to catch fish. A quality attractant is ideal to have to draw fish, yes especially for night fishing 😊
Hello again ....I want to buy a bladed jig rod . I saw a video not to long ago and ya said you use Ark rods..... which one do you suggest for a bladed jig? Thank you and love the videos. Very informative 👍
How you like that Bass Pro rod? I have the 7'6"MAG HEAVY EXTRA FAST paired with the Johnny Morris Platinum Signature Series 6:8:1 and it's my favorite cranking setup. I love that reel also but I just wish it came in more gear ratios instead of just the two
Love watching ya man. I use that trailer once in a while alone in my lake heavy grass and wood and catching bass. Only saying that it’s a good bate. For a trailer or alone
Notice you fish it pretty high in the water column, start cranking immediately after it hits from the cast. do you think that’s preferable over letting it sink on the cast and retrieve it along the bottom, working it up & down as you go?
The Dawsonian I think it all depends on the situation you are fishing. In this video I was fishing in a foot or two of water so I was starting my retrieve right away. There have been times where I have fished clear water and have basically slow rolled it across the bottom and caught them doing that. I have also fished Hydrilla before when I work the chatterbait more like a jig through the grass. So it all depends on the situation
Great video. I like using the Maxscent Creature Hawg with the Jack Hammer and that combo seems to work great for me. I am however gonna try the Structure Bug as well
Just viewed your "downsize" pitchin baits video and this one, and I like your ideas and presentation. Where are you out of? Here in CT the only water that gets that dirty/muddy is the CT River (here in CT). You better stick with that fired craw! I see a bunch of your other videos that I can't wait to view. I'll check out Columbus Barrel Co. as well.
Good video. I did think it was funny that you bit off the top of the bait but then used scissors to modify the bait. I had the smile at that. I have bitten off many soft plastics over time but the worst one was when I bit off a Berkley power bait. That was nasty.
New to your vids. Next time, for any soft plastic, just grab firmly where you need to cut and twist! I get a relatively smooth tear every time. Let me know!
John Schauder yes it had rained quite a bit when I shot this video. When it comes to tuning the blade I really haven’t experienced a time where I needed to tune the blade, especially when using a higher end lure like the jack hammer. As long as your trailer is threaded on straight, the chatterbait should run properly
BassFishingHQ really? That is interesting because the jack hammer is the one that I want to mess with. I was using one this past weekend and it just didn’t seem to vibrate as hard as other chatterbaits. I want to mess with the metal blade… But I don’t know which way to go with it.
Sorry if that seemed sarcastic, but I know chatterbait has design features that other bladed jigs aren't allowed to use. Thanks for the response 👍and great video
I actually had thrown both that day, as well as straight white. All can work well in the mud. But I also just wanted to see if I could get bit on the red once since it was all the rage
Depends on what cover and water clarity you are fishing. I run straight braid in heavily stained water fishing cattails in the Spring and transition to straight fluoro as the grass starts cleaning the water and turning it clear.
Don't throw it over stick ups/"wood" unless the limb inst very sturdy. Always remember the first thing the fish are gonna do is run you under and wrap your line around the limb.
Love your chatter bait videos. I have learned a lot from you. I’m looking for a chatter bait rod. There quite honestly is so much info out there. I plan on throwing mainly 1/2 oz jackhammers and 1/2 oz mini max’s on 15-17# fluoro. I’m so torn between st croix victory 7’2” MH moderate and the victory 7’2” H moderate and the victory 7’2” MH fast moderate (side note I have a mojo bass 7’ MH fast moderate already and it seams parabolic enough, but the tip doesn’t feel as soft as I would like it, but the victory in the matching specs is what I keep coming back to but I don’t want the same rod I already have cuz I don’t think I like it for chatter baits which is what it would mainly be used for. Along with square bills and rapala DT6’s. So if you see this please help I need some guidance. Thank you in advance.
Jon Hitola, I think I can help you out with this question. I’m not Tyler obviously but I do tournament fish and guide down in Florida. I have used just about every chatter bait rod out there whether it be glass, composite or graphite. I used the 7’1MHf Victory and it was probably my favorite rod for fishing chatter baits in heavy hydrilla. If you aren’t fishing heavy cover go with the 7’2 mh mod fast victory. I went to a composite rod and glass rods but I couldn’t get my baits to clean off fishing heavy cover so I’m back to using the 7’1MHF victory rod and I love it. Hopefully that helps you out some. The Victory line isn’t as stiff as the Mojo bass line and it’s a little slower action compared to the Mojo bass rods. The Victory is more parabolic. It’s a great chatter bait rod if you don’t prefer a composite rod and the guides are conventional sizes if running braid to leader connection knots
@@BassFishingHQ was going to post something about the scissors but you've been beat up enough on that one. Lol. Excellent tips! Actually will make a difference. I will be using these for sure.
Now I know why I can’t catch a bass on a chatter bait.. it’s cuz I use my fingers to make the bait a little shorter. I gotta bite to catch the fish lol
2:44. Bites the top off instead of cutting it even though he’s holding scissors in his hand. A true bass fisherman. 😂😂
Not certain why bite the thing when you were using the scissors to trim it already.. but good tips either way.
Exactly my thoughts as well lol
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. But I agree... very good simple tips that really are affective 👍
Absolutely ridiculous to bite it😆 And to put down the scissors to do so
Maybe a habit
I guess biting it feels like you are tough, thanks for the tips.

Thanks for watching dude! It will definitely come through wood better!
Perfect tutorial.. Thank you. Greetings from Warsaw Poland. Alex.
Thanks Alex
Wow the wood snags too makes so much sense but I never would have thought about it. That’s awesome
It really helps big time!
Cool magic trick at the end there. reel, reel, reel, TA DA!! BASS IN HAND!!
Just caught my pb of 3.03 using one and planning to get a bigger one with the chatter bait
I never thought about flipping my Zman bug lures. Now they’re no longer useless! Also I love the casting techniques. Very cool and effortless
No boat no kayak, bank is fishing gets me going. Thanks for the bank fishing v's. FISH ON !
good tips glad to watch this vid cuz i dont fish chatterbait alot and not really confident with them, gonna give it another shot

that's when kayakers have the advantage, we can fish structure parallel to shore that bank fishermen can't access... 👍🎣😎😊👍
Thankyou great tip Mr works like a charm in the river I fish hardly ever gets hung 👍

Great tip..fishing flouro in that muddy water?
U r the first guy who is saying sg. Good video. Thx
Watching this waiting for the ice to thaw here in Illinois... i think the flat trick will help for weeds come summer too.

Really the number 1 tip is get a boat 😢
Buy a kayak.youll enjoy it more and can fish more places.
Kayak, or pond prowler if you want to stand. I can put my pond prowler in anywhere and it fits in the pickup bed
Your rite about that one get a boat that’s the one they don’t tell us lol
Facts!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Great tips to avoid snagging wood. Jack Hammers are to expensive to not heed your advice. Thank you.. Subscribed.
Hot craw pit boss is one of the best trailers for myself
Great video great advice
Heck that’s how I’ve always been using a beaver style bait . We catch smallmouth on rocks at night
I love how you have scissors in your hand and still opt to bite the bait in half LOL!
New to fishing, so you always use a trailer on a chatter bait? I was thinking the chatter bait itself was lure enough, no? Thx
Trailers are cool ive caught stuff without them though
you can flip a swim bait upside down and use the flat top of it just the same. Good vid!
That should work as well. Good thinking
Good video. I did think it was funny that you bit off the top of the bait but then used scissors to modify the bait. I had the smile at that. I have bitten off many soft plastics over time but the worst one was when I bit off a Berkley power bait. That was nasty.
Lol I bet that power bait is gross
Lol!! I bet that was really nasty
Great idea for wood snags. Im going to try that for sure
It really words great, give it a whirl!
What are you using for gear for chatterbaits?
I'll have to try this with a berkley pit boss
Why doesn’t this channel have 10000000 subs? Great content
I’m trying to get there! Thanks for the comment!
Because he bites his baits when he has scissors in his hand.
New to your vids. Next time, for any soft plastic, just grab firmly where you need to cut and twist! I get a relatively smooth tear every time. Let me know!
I'll give that a try. I usually have my braid scissors or multitool nearby so this usually isn't an issue. I tried biting a bit off a lure once, nope.
That is some muddy water! Did u get a lot of rain before you shot this? Also, do you have any tips on tuning the blade of a chatterbait?
John Schauder yes it had rained quite a bit when I shot this video. I use the bandito bug on jackhammer
Nice video sir! Thanks
do you have to have a trailer for your chatter bait
Awesome tip sir!
Thanks for watching!
Great tips; super helpful. Thank you! My question is why trim the plastic bait?(Whether with scissors or teeth.)
He's probably wanting a little smaller profile to match the size of his chatterbait
And too much trailer gets them further away from the hook point. Nipping at the tail.
so it doesn’t effect the profile of the jig itself.
Good information
Thanks Gary, hope you enjoyed it!
Awesome info
Just lost 2 chatter baits yesterday. With this popped up before that 😂
Trailer tip will help good video...
Is that 3/8 chatterbait or 1/2?
Do these tips only work for the brand chatterbait or for all bladed jigs,
All bladed jigs
Sorry if that seemed sarcastic, but I know chatterbait has design features that other bladed jigs aren't allowed to use. Thanks for the response 👍and great video
ahhahahaa :D 2:45 holding scissors in hand but its easier with teeths :D
i see that you are fishing muddy water, is there a reason that you are not throwing blk/blu combo other than the crawfish color?
I actually had thrown both that day, as well as straight white. All can work well in the mud. But I also just wanted to see if I could get bit on the red once since it was all the rage
Red is a big time Spring Pre-spawn bait. Sometimes it is the only thing they’ll eat and other times it doesn’t get a bite. Just another tool honestly.
What combo is best for a chatter bait. 1/4 oz - 3/8 oz
I really like a 3/8oz in early spring, and a 1/2 pretty much the rest of the year
@@BassFishingHQ ok what length and action rod should i use and gear ratio
If you can only have one set up. I would go with a 7’3” M and a 7.1:1 gear ratio reel.
I have lost so many baits. I now know why. Thank u.
What kind of line do you use
Nice tip thank you 🙏🏽
Thanks for watching!
Anytime knowledge is power and that was some good information and tips I appreciate you
Is it better to go straight fluro or a braid with fluro leader .
Depends on what cover and water clarity you are fishing. I run straight braid in heavily stained water fishing cattails in the Spring and transition to straight fluoro as the grass starts cleaning the water and turning it clear.
what kind of boat is that bro !
Do you use Red Chatterbaits year around? Thanks for sharing these tips!
prolly not just in that chocolate milk water
Mainly a spring thing. I’d go black and blue or upsize the blade to the big blade other times of the year fishing water this muddy.
Spring . Cloudy water.
I just cut up old sankos to use as trailers
The xzone craws come that way. No need for biting platics!
Good information thanks!
Thanks JW
Won't the change of trailer from zako to structure big.caise the bait to fish higher in the water column?
Yes
Someone shops at Costco! I have that same jacket
Don't throw it over stick ups/"wood" unless the limb inst very sturdy. Always remember the first thing the fish are gonna do is run you under and wrap your line around the limb.
was that mono or fc?
Do you like the banbito
What colors do you recommend for stained water like that?
I know I’m not him but I like white and chartreuse and red
Black and blue works well too
Bites the head off of the bait with scissors in hand, you're a rebel!!!
*picks up scissors*
"Now what I do, is I bite it off. Eww." 😂
Why didn’t you use the scissors to cut the top off if you were going to use them to make the triangle point much easier
I used the same trailer bait and dragged it over my hand with that same chatter bait and it didn’t “roll” and get stuck to my hand
"See that right there?" No sir. Not at all. 😂 But I'm definitely going to try this structure bug...
