This was good. I just started AA yesterday(Aug. 30). Although it was through zoom, I believe I have already made a step in the right direction. Today was my second day and tomorrow I plan on actually going in person. So I'll be attethe zoom meeting at 5:30PM and the in person at 8PM. I've been an alcoholic for 7 years now. Before I that I was a social drinker. Anyhow, alcoholic and cocaine have been my downfall and I've tried to quit on my own for fat too long and I'm TIRED of this life. I'm going to give it my all with AA. My family deserves a better me. I deserve a better me.
Thank you. I am a beginner in the mental health profession and I came in search of something that could help me have a good understanding of the whole concept before practising it with clients. Thanks for being precise and easy to follow.♥️✨

I literally stopped on my own no program and I swear I probably drank the most! I would wake up and and get drunk take a nap wake back up and get drunk again everyday! I just decided to quit one day and never drank again! I never thought I would but I did
@@dillonviers8550 so stopped cold turkey too. might sound dumb but water or unsweetened tea. A LOT of it. But I'm hydrated so I feel good. I can go to a party with my 40oz metal Stanley cup full of water, you blend right in and I don't even tell people I don't drink anymore
Great power to you. Congratulations. I wish I had that in me but since I don't, I have finally opted for a 12 step program(AA). I'm curious as to why you're watching this video, however? If you're Sober and without any outside help.
The video says working the 12 steps is the hardest thing he’s ever done In chapter 5 of the AA Big Book the first paragraph says that this is a SIMPLE program not hard. But honestly it has been hard for me as well. 🤦🏼♂️
I've read about the 12 Step Program in a book about Codependency. Basically I and my sister have come to the conclusion that our mother is narcissist and because of that we have become codependents. So the book I'm currently reading suggests us to look for support from psychotherapist, a conselour or by following the 12 Step Program. It looks very interesting the way you summarized it on the video. Thanks for sharing.
@@books4739 yes. Watch Prof. Sam Vaknin videos here on UA-cam. His videos are very deep and clear, strictly based on studies on the field of narcissism. In my experience, watching his vídeos has made me become self aware, and now I can see and fight the narcissism in myself rather than futily trying to change the narcissists and psycopaths wherever I go. Particularly, one of the most eye opening and positively traumatazing vídeo I’ve ever watched was Sam Vaknin’s “The Narcissist Is Your Dark Side. You envy him, want to be like him.” I higly recomend you to watch his videos, starting with this one.
We admitted we were powerless over alcohol-that our lives had become unmanageable. For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powersh 39 nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.”-PROVERBS 3:5. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. “Openly confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may get healed.” (James 5:16) Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. “In my flesh, there dwells nothing good.” (Romans 7:18) Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. “If, then, you are bringing your gift to the altar and you there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, and go away; first make your peace with your brother, and then, when you have come back, offer up your gift.”-Matt. 5:23, 24. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Jesus said to him: “Get up! Pick up your mat* and walk.”+ 9 And the man immediately got well, and he picked up his mat* and began to walk. Bill W. Quotes this one in the big book ^^^ Jesus says, 'no one comes to the Father except through me.' (If you are rationalising, you are doing something wrong - mine) Jehovah is God, may He pour His Holy Spirit out upon us. Jesus Christ is Lord, Saviour and King. Maybe I'll stick around A.A. in case I can help someone else. The teachers shall be judged more harshly than the students. Jehovah has the final say.
The success rate as best as can be determined is around 8 to 12 % when using AA. It is the only model accepted but not that effective. It is a rare disease treatment that blames the patient when failure occurs. I believe that any success that does happen is mainly attributable to the “heard instinct “ However it is all we have at the present. There is an underlying danger of slipping into cult like behavior. Trying to make a name for yourself in an anonymous organization.
Thanks for your fantastic video. It has a great conversation with examples which I really liked it and found it really useful in understanding the 12 steps and working with addicted people.
Well they did one thing right at 10:20...."GOD in whatever way you IMAGINE HIM" because that is what every God that has ever been worshiped is.......IMAGINED
This is very different from the 12 step experience I had. I would need some support for the claim about suicide. I wonder if it's partially because 12 steps are claimed to be the ONLY source of recovery for addicts. (I am speaking from the perspective of someone who did a 12 step program that was not based on physical addiction).
When it comes down to it is the "skill" of overcoming addiction being able to See triggers in real time and say "no!" ? (-whether its with help of steps and prayer or whatever)
The AA program is created by Alistair Crowley the anti christ. The AA symbols come from a cult called thelematic cult. The triangle in a circle is for conjuring demons. Bill Wilson who wrote the big book is known for witchcraft using Ouija boards. The first three steps of aa are a soul trap
Why are people so offended by God? It's funny they refuse to believe in God because he's "not there " according to them so they just make up their own higher power that also is not there and that works.

Check out his reply to the article. Blaming of course. Narcissism anyone??
12 step movements were started by narcissists and is a program that attracts them as well. Be careful and do lots of research.

If you don't like narcissism then don't go to step groups. It's run by narcissists. If you believe their bullshit, you'll just make yourself ill.
