I am on Lopez Island, Washington, where there are no local appliance repair people. You are a lifesaver; I took my new wife to my vacation home here for our honeymoon. I rent the place out as a vacation rental, and discovered last night that the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher would fill with water, and then immediately shut down and drain the water. It was a blockage of the food disposal impeller blade. Once I cleared that out, put it all back together, everything works well again. Thank you so much!

Thank you soooo much for this video!! We were actually just about to buy a new dishwasher because we thought the motor was out. I did some searching online and found your video. My hubby watched it and followed your instructions. He found 2 plastic tabs that had broken off the top rack jammed inside the grinder so it was locked down. Once he removed those, works like a charm!! Yay!! Such a poor design for the rack adjusters and wheels to be made from plastic that breaks off and shuts the whole thing down, but that's not your fault. Just wanted to express my gratitude!!

This was very helpful for the future. My machine suddenly wasn't working, but then I don't use it but maybe twice a year. After I removed the front panels and checked all wires were live and connected, I then thought to check the electrical plug at the wall and it was ajar! Can you believe it? Check that first, and if something else, like maybe your garbage disposal that's connected to the same socket works, well, then you remove the front panels and go from there. ;b Thank goodness I didn't call someone out before checking UA-cam. :)

Thanks for the visuals. I always hate pulling apart appliances as the manufacturers have a tendency to interlock panels in ways usually invisible to see until it's apart. Understandable since they need a smooth and pure exterior. The KitchenAid I was working on already had broken plastic from whomever took it apart before.

It looks like your chopper blade and screen are somehow kept together. The hole in the center if my screen is slightly larger than the washer on the chopper so there is nothing to keep them together. It almost seems as if I'm missing a retainer of some sort. Your chopper and screen seem to click into place and my screen sets in the griove but my chopper blade has nothing to hold it in place. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

What if mine didn’t have a washer (1:50) to begin with. Assembly basically exactly like yours too. Does it need that washer to work? Does that most likely mean someone worked on it at some point and either lost the washer or didn’t replace it? Or do some just not have washers, even though I have the exact set up as yours probably just a different brand?

So was it just a clogged or dirty chopper and drain area? I have a Kitchenaid also with a problem where no panel lights are on. I have replaced the main control board, door latch and about a year ago the touch pad/led panel was replaced. Now it is just dead. I checked the fuse that is common to check. It is good so I am stumped. Could the control panel/touch pad panel be dead in less than one year? Kitchenaid model KUDS30CXBL3

Alaways keep the door shut and locked even when not in use. Water can drain into the machine from the sink and leak out the bottom of the door if it isn’t locked. And this means you have your drain hose improperly installed. It should have a high loop going higher than the bottom of the sink under the counter

***** I went to the website and they say $20 to ask a question. What am I missing?
Brian Bremer That is correct, repair help is $20 for support on a single appliance. To ask a question, go through the checkout process and you will be presented with a page to ask your question. This response was to a viewer 8 months ago when we were testing out our Repair Help page, now it is a paid service.

Google has become pretty good where anything you ask it will bring to a list of nearly "right on the money" answers.
PLUS, don't forget Google shows you page 1, so go to the bottom and turn the page
Everytime I try to start mine it says a surge warning or something of that sense it won't start up. What might that be?

Alaways keep the door shut and locked even when not in use. Water can drain into the machine from the sink and leak out the bottom of the door if it isn’t locked. And this means you have your drain hose improperly installed. It should have a high loop going higher than the bottom of the sink under the counter

KitchenAid kudl01ilbs6. Won’t start. Panel button lights come on when pressed but won’t start filling. I replaced the thermal cutoff fuse, but it won’t start. When it stopped, it had water in it that I had to remove with a wet-dry vac. Any suggestions?
