Hey guys! Today, we’re going to show you how we DIY’d my parents’ staircase with a runner. This is a simple and cheap way to dress up a staircase in the home. Not only does it look great, but it is also very functional. With age, my parents found that wood staircases were hard on their joints. Hi! How wide are the stairs and how much room is left on each side of these? I got a narrow runner and am scared it’s too narrow. Eek!
Hi!! So there is a good amount of space left in each side. I’m not sure exactly how much at this time but I can ask my parents for some measurements if you’re still curious! That’s actually one thing that bothers me, that there’s quite some empty space on the steps that the runner isn’t covering. My parents actually don’t mind at all and if anything prefer this, but if it were me, I would’ve returned it and gotten a wider runner. Before actually stapling it on, I would recommend just placing it on top and if you even have the slightest doubts, return it for a wider runner. I personally think it looks best when there’s about 4-6 inches of flooring showing on each side of the runner.
