as someone with 4 accounts im concerned about smurfing LMAO. First, they need a minimum level requirement for ranked. 2nd: They need to improve the casual/unraked experience so its a safe fun environment for new players instead of queing into an already started game 3 down with no team8s, and no extramodes. 3rd: geta more smart algorithm to make harder to gain points against lower players, right now you can win like 8 points by winning against 1400s even if im 1600-1700 wich is basically dumb. You can farm points in ranked so easily
@@jasonl.7466 yeah im sure that noobies wont jump into ranked so quickly if casual wasnt a trash horrible experience, full of idiots, inconsistent lobbies, no extra or anything cool modes, and if you didnt join an started match just to lose 6-0. Even me as a 1700+ player would play casual if wasnt trash, sometimes i just want to chill so i need to play ranked in a smurf or take some loses (idont really care about my mmr anyway, but people will get mad it i dont sweat)
I don't understand why there isn't a checkbox to not queue into a running match. Most people leave after joining anyway if it's running so it's really just a waste of everyone's time (including the matchmaker's cpu time).
I think a good system to implement would be to record how fast you rank up. All of the players who are ranking up at a ridiculous pace would be put in a list for review. If nothing looks wrong than they get a pass but if some dude is triple-resetting on silvers than they can either perma-ban or temporarily ban.
@@robertcamargo9289 it would imposible to track gameplay like reseting against silvers, but im sure psyonix already have the data to do the first one, like having a track of velocity in ranking. If you saw Johnnyboi saltmine2, he said he contacted psyonix and they were able to say presicely which players had been boosted or fixing matches on the leaderboard to be elegible for qualifying. So im sure they have all that is needed to a good ranking algorithm system, and i hope they are developing it, instead of not giving a F
I feel like it would be more likely for all the current players getting pushed up in the ranking, since a lot of inexperienced players could flood the player base. So the new players would take up bronze, but previous bronze players would go up to silver, since they should be winning more games against these new players. Iteratively this could inflate the ranks, where more and more players saturate higher ranks and the rank distribution just shifts upward.
Yea but at the same time they've also announced that they're adding more ranks to grand champion (bc currently gc 2s and 3s have a range of almost a thousand mmr) so I feel like that will be offset quite a bit, especially considering that inflation will most likely only affect ranks up to about the gold or plat level.
percentually it'd stay similar though. even though players are pushed up, there are new players in the lower ranks, that make those ranks more common, so I think it'd even out somewhat.
This is true, but since the MMR system is based on an equal # of points being given out (except placements), all the current players would likely get pushed up a few ranks, but all the new players wouldn't just stay in bronze and silver, they'd get pushed DOWN past the bottom of bronze (the same way players are pushed up past GC) which is what he's talking about. This is why he suggests adding the "wood" rank, it would give the players pushed down out the bottom of bronze somewhere to go. So the better current bronzes would become silver, the bad current bronzes would be bronze, and the good new players also bronze, but the bad new players are "wood"
@@draloric wouldnt it be easier just to put a bottom cap on mmr? make it impossible to drop below zero.. that way bronze stays bronze and when they know enough to earn their way out, they will.
Idk bout "locking ranked." Instead they should encourage offline play with bots. Give em some cool decal for finishing a season. Noobs jus wanna look cool.
About the ranking you can see something similar at Splatoon. You only unlock ranked games after reaching level 10 on regular plays. It's seems better than playing ranked and never being at least bronze 1

DreadedSkills13 yeah honestly I’m kinda excited for f2p because I started playing on PS4, so most of my older items are there. When rl goes f2p I’ll be able to transfer my items
When CS:GO went F2P, they gave players who paid for the game a token/badge that prioritized matching with other badge owners. Maybe RL could do something similar, but with dedicated servers for badge owners. Helps with minimalizing smurfs and cheaters
@@closerrl9851 to discourage real smurfing. (by real smurfing i mean people who try in low level games and not the ones who's helping there friend improve and not just beating noobs to a pulp.)
I wonder what the Psyonix devs and player base would think about a hard rank reset when the game goes free to play? Kinda just shuffle all the newer players into the mix and let all the higher ranked players earn it again. That would help transition everyone, in the free to play stage. I feel like a hard rank reset in combination with a level cap like you talked about would really make this whole free to play thing a pretty smooth transition and the level cap alone would get rid of the majority of smurfs. Like imagine you cant play a ranked game until you get level 30 or level 50 even. Not many people are gonna wanna go through all of that just to smurf. So I feel like the level cap in addition to a hard rank reset would make all of this a lot easier on everyone.
I've seen the chaos of trying to play RL right after a MMR wipe. Last time they wiped my first 6 ranking games were all terrible because I kept getting stuck with 2 pure bronzes against 2 experienced players. By game 7 the matchmaking was pretty sure I was S1 and put me against people that belonged in that rank. I felt really bad because I had to destroy them to rank up, and they felt bad because they couldn't understand why. Eventually ended up in S3 and had to do the long walk back to P3, 9mmr at a time. The experience also taught me that playing with people at different levels requires completely different strategies. In some ways being the one plat in a low gold lobby is harder, because you have to unlearn passing plays and develop the fortitude to ignore people talking smack because you got a low score hanging out in the back half of the field while your team continually attacked the ball without rotation.
FluffRat I feel that man I know it wouldn’t be easy and I remember how rough it was back in the day where every season was a hard rank reset. I feel like just one hard reset to shuffle all the new players into the rank system would be helpful, and I know it’d be hard getting teamed up with them but I mean I guess that’s why they call ranked a grind? Like I feel like just creating a new rank would be a little weird ya know? With what you were talking about, I definitely understand the struggle dude, when I switched from ps4 to PC and did my placements, I got called a smurf in every game just because I was a D3 on ps4 that started out going against silvers. It’s just a product of change in the game, and when it goes free to play there’s gonna be a huge change in the player base. Think about it like this. If golds and platinums make up like 50% of the player base, and the player base gets 25% bigger, then relatively speaking those middle of the road players are going to be better in where there are in the rank system by comparison. A p3 now might be a D2 once all these new players come in. I guess it’s just a discussion of devaluing all ranks by a little versus creating a new rank entirely, and that’s why I’m interested to see what the devs do with this situation.
1:48 No, they stated in the announcement that you will be able to play it on whatever platform you have it on in the future. 9:50 A level cap in ranked is a fantastic idea! I think it's an absolute must, especially because of smurfs.
Yeah, they said you can continue playing from Steam, but first, without new players, Steam players will slowly decrease. And also... they can just lie, and just go: "RL is now a Epic fully exclusive" just cause they can, its not like Epic games is the pro-consumer model
@@raulr4721 No, they are not lying. Why would they be? Just think how dumb this move would be. Yes, but then that would make it so there is a larger skill disparity in the bronze 1 rank. Likely not even close to the skill difference between high and low GC but still, adding more ranks below seems to make more sense imo
I am relatively new to the game (started playing a couple weeks before f2p was announced) and me and my friend went on a *massive* losing streak in doubles into - MMR and now after many many wins I checked on RL tracker and I'm finally back to positive MMR. It is really demotivating winning many games and not ranking up at all and additionally I have spent so long playing and am still in bronze do my games are now to easy for me. Hopefully now that I am into positive MMR I can start ranking up
Rank that low is so insignificant though. Focus on learning skills not rank you'll end up a better player. Practice flicks. Or centering the ball from the wall. Rotation. Speed. Man I grinded so hard to get out of gold but I didn't really get any better. I just got lucky with a good win streak but afterwards I stayed in plat. But in plat I decided to get good instead of get rank. Than getting diamond was easy. -ish. Not really grinding wasn't as mad when I lost and just more fun less toxic. (Me being less toxic, other people are goin to be toxic af)
@ Inflation: Isn't there a general pattern that MMR points move up the ladder faster than players do? Like a player winning MMR points from beating weaker players and then losing them to stronger players. You could (roughly) visualize this by moving the MMR points up from the weakest to the strongest players. So, even if new players would be ranked very low (like "wood 1"), there would be inflation in every case because all those players would bring additional points into the system.
No he isn’t 😂😂 many people have talked about it but they will probably make it so you have to be a certain level to play ranked so it’s hard to smurf. Plus there are already tons of smurfs as consoles can make new accounts for free
Implement a system like LoL where if players are getting MVP most of the time, or constantly winning games and getting extremely high points at the same time, they get a ton of MMR so they rank up faster and not smurf on the lower ranks so much. Edit: The condition is that they win and have insanely high points relative to the opponent's point. And also like u said minimum level to play rank similarly to LoL. Honestly for the negative mmr as well, just set a minimum to how low u can get. Maybe if u r at 0mmr u cannot drop anymore, u lose means u dont gain anything. That could be really effective too
Nope. Ballchasing, point stealing and farming wouldn't get you MVP. because that causes you to lose. In Rocket League to rank up, you play with your teammate, ballchasing tends to lead to a loss. Unless it is a smurf then him ballchasing and farming points will push him up the ranks. So there is no problem with that
Yeah man I had to write negative review for this on steam. Seroisly RL players are so toxic they flame so much even for one accidental bump.I'm plat btw

The main thing I’m worried about is most F2P games have bots thats can hack, spam chat, or be really annoying. Theres not really any hacks on rocket league but if any were created there would be tons of bots and chat spamming bots could be a problem too.
There's already level cap in some games to be able to play competitive and it would make perfect sense in Rocket League also. I might be wrong but I think CSGO has this but atleast in Overwatch there is min level to be able to participate in competitive. If it hasn't changed, haven't played in a long time.
Great insight as always. I am convinced RL will launch on Epic with some kind of Workshop support. My reasoning is Lethamyr has been dead silent on the topic and I don't think that would happen unless he's been given some reassurance from Psyonix. I feel like he knows about the upcoming Workshop support and is potentially assisting Psyonix in testing and making it better. /tinfoilhat
Why is no one worried about trading? It looks like cross trading is coming out and the prices of the consoles are really different. The Items on the Consoles are really cheap even though the prices have gone down on pc lately. Another thing that might happen is that either the credits value goes up due to the fusion whith the console market or the price goes down due to the mass of new credits bought by the new players. Either way you should buy items that are currently lower on pc than on console that should be an win win.

Lots of good thoughts. I think the worry that the servers will be overburdened is not a big concern. The way things work these days, they scale and spin up cloud instanced servers in response to demand. So now the question is "can the AWS cloud handle the load" and I'm confident it can. Improvements to servers are improvements to this scaling and how the individual server instances themselves function.
IMO the best solution is simply going to be making you play like 30 games of casual before you are allowed to play ranked. This will incentivise people focusing on improving before diving into ranked.
I don't think so, because just an arbitrary number of such games is kinda forced. While getting a certain level doesn't really feel like that, because new players would more clearly understand why they can't play ranked basing of their level.
@@ineonfox4787 CSGO does a very similar thing with restricting ranked until you have played some casual games. Trying it to level has the unfortunate effect of conflating skill and level.

Rocket League launching on Free to Play could do something similar for Ranked Matches like Destiny had with joining the Crucible (PVP Mode). In Destiny, the player needed to have their guardian at Level 5 to get an invitation to join the Crucible. Rocket League's Ranked Matches could require you to complete a certain amount of games in Casual, achieve a specific game level, or a combination of both. For example, Complete a match in each casual game mode at least once and reach Level X to unlock ranked matches. That way new players can see each game type, get a feel of the game, adjust settings to their liking, all before joining ranked. All Legacy accounts would be grandfathered in so long as they have completed at least 1 ranked placement match.
When you're negative mmr, you win way more mmr than you lose. It's actually harder to not gain mmr even if you only win 1/4 games. Also, new players will progress way faster than we, log timers, did.
thats definetly not a solution, that would just fuck up everyone, plats and diamonds would get destroyed by champs and bronze players would be beaten straight to below bronze 1 because literally everyone is better than them and they wouldn't win any games

In Rocket League Official site in the FAQ section about the F2P they said that the Steam version won't be available for new users but who bought the game already before the F2P release on Epic Games will still have the game in his inventory and they will keep supporting it with updates like the epic games version.
one idea i have to combat the inflated ranks problem would be to add the old ranks back within the new ones. my idea is add prospect before bronze, challenger between gold and platinum, and all-star between diamond and champ. just seems pretty cool to me
Honestly RL moving to Epic games store is probably gonna encourage me to make a smurf, since I would have had to make a new steam account and buy it again before which also means signing in and out of steam, whereas now i can have a free copy on a different launcher so don't have to sign out at all.
Honestly, initially they could make it that people with an epic games account can only play with people with no linked account, meaning brand new players can only play with brand new players and no one from xbox or ps or steam. Yeah there will be smurfs starting fresh fresh but it still reduces that risk by a lot
I really wouldnt worry about Workshop Maps too much, i play fortnite and Rocket League, and am passionate about both. And in Fortnite they have the same kind of workshop maps but for everybody even console and mobiles, so if anything im expecting that to happen.
Maybe the ranking problems can be sorted out by considering the players' previous rankings, separating new/old players into 2 different ranking systems, and then merging them over time somehow. However I think they do have some solution for that, Epic should have enough experience on ranking systems since they own Fortnite. Also having to download Epic's launcher doesn't really look like a huge problem to me
Generally adding more players to an ELO based system pushes worse players further down and better players further up, although the distribution should stay the same (ELO based systems are normally distributed). I am unsure how inserting a large number of players at a point that is not near the centre of the normal distribution will affect it in the short term though. Expect massive upheaval.
Literally do this: Prevent players from immediately hopping into competitive (because you should NEVER do that) and make some goal for them to reach in order to unlock it... then set the starting rank somewhere between S2 and G2. As long as they're first matches give them a drastic MMR change up or down (dependant on performance) --- they will find their rank that they need to climb from.
Bad idea imo. New players will most likely have to experience a massive losing streak. You don't even get gold level by playing against bots/other new players playing casual. Even though setting a goal for thel to be able to play ranked is a good idea, I think that everyone should start unranked and do their placement matches starting just at the same MMR new player start now
@@LeFlibu If the goal is large enough, a competitive player will have enough time to learn. Especially with all the content out there to learn from! If you're not a competitive player... you might be screwed for a little while....... oh well.
Hello! Nice ideas but i think I've heard new players start off with a silver 1 mmr. And with more players, i do believe there will be people getting into ranks they don't deserve. But that only means finding a match would be quicker. I struggle to find matches in hoops and stuff. Hopefully they were testing these new game modes as permanent ranked matches. Newish game modes with new players (maybe lower tier game mode exclusive rewards?) could be pretty fun to try to grind out.
In regards to the ranking problems, It will likely just push up the rank of players in silver, into gold, and some golds into plat, while having relatively little impact on ranks above diamond.
I think a good way to solve the ranking issue for the new player base would be to create a "proving grounds" for every game mode where you can learn the basic gameplay and controls. You would then need to surpass a certain mmr rating in proving grounds in order to UNLOCK ranked games. This way the new player base has time to dilute slowly into ranked. The more casual player (or x-box kids) will need to spend more time in proving grounds before being able to move up to ranked, while the more skillful new players will unlock ranked on day 1 or 2 and move up to gold quickly. This gives young players a "goal" to achieve while learning the game. I would propose this as an alternative to the 10 ranking games if its your first season ever playing.
I had a post on Reddit suggesting the addition of Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire to push low GCs into champ rather than just having an elite tier of GC. That came before the announcement of Free2Play, which only makes it more reasonable to add more ranks. Sapphire would take over Diamond's blue color, and Diamond could go to the appropriate white color. That would also round out to 4 metals (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), 4 gemstones (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond), Champ, and GrandChamp. Oh, and GC should have RAINBOW rewards! We would have the addition of green, red (recently used for GC), white, and rainbow rewards.
@@Synodii Where you put the new ranks doesn't really matter. I chose those ranks to even out the number of gems vs metals. Iron would work - black colored items - it just makes it so there's 5 metals and a gem. I just find that odd and saw reason for more ranks. One thing that needs to come with this is something players have been suggesting forever: a hard MMR reset. Maybe up the number of matches needed to set rank at the beginning of the season since there will be much more randomness.
Apparently, everyone who has played online before the release of F2P will get loads of in game items including all DLC. But does this mean every single dlc in the game like the batmobile or Ghostbusters Ecto 1 pack?
Lol no not all of them only the crap ones and you only get about 4-10 new items that u will only get if u play before the update which is August 31st (September 1st for some countries)
I think making a lower limit for MMR would solve the issue of new players being stuck in bronze 1 too long. Preventing a negative MMR by setting a lower limit of e.g. 0 would mean that ppl won’t be stuck in bronze 1 div 1 even after winning a bunch, and eliminates the need of new ranks. While it also means that player experience in the lowest MMR range can’t really be compared by MMR, it still can gauge if a player is still new to the game and honestly just an MMR rating can never gauge the skill of a player (a meh player with a lucky win streak can still have a high enough MMR to match with actually better players).
That stuck below bronze 1 thing happened to me when I first started! Lmao! I knew it wasn't just me. I didn't know about RL tracker yet, hadn't turned into that big of a fan at that point.
You raised a lot of really excellent points in this vid. My greedy ass was just picturing all the fortnite 12 year olds I can destroy in casual to boost my ego, hadn't even considered negative mmr could be a thing. Seems like bronze is gonna start getting much more toxic.
At the very least I think these issues have ways to be mitigated or avoided to a great extent, and I'm sure now with Epic behind it, there's more brains working on these issues. I can even imagine that this was part of the things they had to think about at Psyonix before even selling the company to Epic. In my head the way it played out was that Psyonix knew since the offer was on the table, that the game would eventually go free to play, so they had to know how to keep it from crumbling when that happens.
I bet they will make new ranks like GC 1, 2, and 3, and then have a "top" rank like superstar. I also think the lowest MMR will be like 100 or 0, and that will move most players up towards the new ranks over time
@@georginho36 IMO the challenger ranks wouldn't really fit in, but I think Prospect would fit well, and then shift the champ ranksup and put the Star ranks between Diamond and Champ
BAY35 i commented somewhere else how i think the ranks would fit and ye i agree with you. all star would fit nicely between diamond and champ and prospect could come before bronze. i know challenger wouldn’t really work since it’s basically gold, but i think it could fit between gold and platinum, although it’s not technically where the old rank used to lie i think it makes more sense than anywhere else
I just hope they handle the matchmaking issue because I really don't want this to become the new csgo with actually more smurves than real players in the lower ranks
An easy fix to the ranked problem is to set a lock on competitive play until a player is a certain level, that way they are forced to learn the game before trying it out
The new players could level up to like level 25 (in rainbow you need to be level 50 to play ranked). So getting around level 25 would take some hours, that gives the new new player the ground basics of the game.
I played the game for a year, and I’m diamond 1, but when I first played the game I played consistent ranked games, keep in mind I was HORRIBLE, but it’s a whole new experience when you start out in ranked, everything is challenging and you can barely hit the ball, I challenged myself and pursued to get better. I focused on mechanics for months. I shot straight through platinum and I’m competing with champs. Don’t do what I did, it makes the game boring, and it practically makes it a chore to play the game. Just take it slow, you will get there eventually :)
To be fair, on the competitive side, since you can't play comp until you're level 10 it's unlikely a new player will just jump right into comp. But the negative MMR could be a big problem too if not properly managed
smurfing is something I worry about and I think best way to prevent that is locking ranked for period of time otherwise there will be so many smurfs in low ranks it will look like GC matches.
I don't know if its a good idea, but introduce something csgo did when it became f2p. Have 2 versions of ranked. One free, and one 'prime'. In ranked, f2p players are going to be matched with f2p players, and prime with prime. This could help reduce the amount of smurfs the game is going to have. Also, make it so, new accounts have to be at least Lvl 15 or so to play ranked. Another idea I had was, change the camera settings. Cap the distance at around 300, height at 120, remove camera shake. If you don't want to cap them, inform them that increasing these values, could make you less precise.
I think psyonix should do everything they can to accommodate new players. There should definitely be a minimum requirement to play ranked, I'm thinking somewhere between 20 and 50 games (3 to 8 hours). We need a new rank not only in the bottom but also at the top, people will move divisions up since the average will go down so we need a new rank between diamond and champ perhaps. (Ps, they should also do a top 100 players rankfor the very best grandchamps just like LoL has Challengers, they deserve it)
i'm thinking they should make sure you have to play 10 casual games to unlock ranked 10 of each playlist to unlocked each version of that playlist in ranked
They should make it so you have to reach at least level 15 or 20 or something to play competitive (I mean ideally most won't really be ready until 45+, but then there's be the issue of people being too impatient and not even playing enough to play ranked). as someone with 4 accounts im concerned about smurfing LMAO.
Cristian Aguilar you talking about casual ?

Yes, but then that would make it so there is a larger skill disparity in the bronze 1 rank. Likely not even close to the skill difference between high and low GC but still, adding more ranks below seems to make more sense imo

10:58 had to rewatch that one :o
The thing that I'm most worried about is the fact that someone is using an end in higher level comp
@ Inflation:
Isn't there a general pattern that MMR points move up the ladder faster than players do?
Like a player winning MMR points from beating weaker players and then losing them to stronger players. You could (roughly) visualize this by moving the MMR points up from the weakest to the strongest players.
So, even if new players would be ranked very low (like "wood 1"), there would be inflation in every case because all those players would bring additional points into the system.
Depends where they get placed and whether psyonix predicts it right.
Your the first person that talked about more Smurf’s accounts and that was what I was worried about. Great video!!
No he isn’t 😂😂 many people have talked about it but they will probably make it so you have to be a certain level to play ranked so it’s hard to smurf. Plus there are already tons of smurfs as consoles can make new accounts for free
Xarma
Especially on other games there are smurfs
Implement a system like LoL where if players are getting MVP most of the time, or constantly winning games and getting extremely high points at the same time, they get a ton of MMR so they rank up faster and not smurf on the lower ranks so much. Edit: The condition is that they win and have insanely high points relative to the opponent's point. And also like u said minimum level to play rank similarly to LoL.
Honestly for the negative mmr as well, just set a minimum to how low u can get. Maybe if u r at 0mmr u cannot drop anymore, u lose means u dont gain anything. That could be really effective too
The only problem would occur with players ball chasing and point stealing, farming etc.
Nope. Ballchasing, point stealing and farming wouldn't get you MVP. because that causes you to lose. In Rocket League to rank up, you play with your teammate, ballchasing tends to lead to a loss. Unless it is a smurf then him ballchasing and farming points will push him up the ranks. So there is no problem with that
I also feel like there will be a wave oftoxicity, worse than now, because free to play = more kids

I play with a fuckin mobile Hotspot and never have problems 😂. And I play on all servers. Not only my location. Which third world country are you living in?
All Legacy accounts would be grandfathered in so long as they have completed at least 1 ranked placement match.

one idea i have to combat the inflated ranks problem would be to add the old ranks back within the new ones. my idea is add prospect before bronze, challenger between gold and platinum, and all-star between diamond and champ. just seems pretty cool to me
Honestly RL moving to Epic games store is probably gonna encourage me to make a smurf, since I would have had to make a new steam account and buy it again before which also means signing in and out of steam, whereas now i can have a free copy on a different launcher so don't have to sign out at all.
@@nightgoat99 Great songs btw, but it's named after Arpad Elo: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
I played with a friend who had a negative mmr and it took 22 won matches to get him out of Bronze 1! This is definitely a thing!
Literally do this:
Prevent players from immediately hopping into competitive (because you should NEVER do that) and make some goal for them to reach in order to unlock it... then set the starting rank somewhere between S2 and G2.
They said they're changing the rank system so while your model is correct, it might potentially not apply.
I like the way you think, but I feel that they should take on a more similar form of the Valorant system: with Iron below Bronze and such
@@Synodii Where you put the new ranks doesn't really matter. I chose those ranks to even out the number of gems vs metals. Iron would work - black colored items - it just makes it so there's 5 metals and a gem. I just find that odd and saw reason for more ranks.
One thing that needs to come with this is something players have been suggesting forever: a hard MMR reset. Maybe up the number of matches needed to set rank at the beginning of the season since there will be much more randomness.
they should make it so you have to be a certain level or have played a certain amount of games to be able to do ranked
@@noah-cz6mn yeah its kinda annoying since I wanted skyline but they're only bringing the crap ones
So you won't be able to buy esport tokens on console or is that just steam?
I bet they will make new ranks like GC 1, 2, and 3, and then have a "top" rank like superstar. I also think the lowest MMR will be like 100 or 0, and that will move most players up towards the new ranks over time
duuude if they brought back the OG star ranks I'd go nuts
BAY35 be really cool if they ended up using old and new ranks together
@@georginho36 IMO the challenger ranks wouldn't really fit in, but I think Prospect would fit well, and then shift the champ ranksup and put the Star ranks between Diamond and Champ
BAY35 i commented somewhere else how i think the ranks would fit and ye i agree with you. all star would fit nicely between diamond and champ and prospect could come before bronze. i know challenger wouldn’t really work since it’s basically gold, but i think it could fit between gold and platinum, although it’s not technically where the old rank used to lie i think it makes more sense than anywhere else
To anyone reading this. PLEASE don’t smurf. Just let the newcomers have fun
Your camera settings seems quite nice, may I know what values you use?
I just hope they handle the matchmaking issue because I really don't want this to become the new csgo with actually more smurves than real players in the lower ranks
An easy fix to the ranked problem is to set a lock on competitive play until a player is a certain level, that way they are forced to learn the game before trying it out
The new players could level up to like level 25 (in rainbow you need to be level 50 to play ranked). So getting around level 25 would take some hours, that gives the new new player the ground basics of the game.
I think a "test" system where you have to score some "hard" goals o make some saves could help determine the rank of a player without scaring him away
Wait YOU added Workshop support?
I played the game for a year, and I’m diamond 1, but when I first played the game I played consistent ranked games, keep in mind I was HORRIBLE, but it’s a whole new experience when you start out in ranked, everything is challenging and you can barely hit the ball, I challenged myself and pursued to get better. I focused on mechanics for months. I shot straight through platinum and I’m competing with champs. Don’t do what I did, it makes the game boring, and it practically makes it a chore to play the game. Just take it slow, you will get there eventually :)
How many hrs because I have played for 9 months and am c3 which sounds impressive but I have 750+ hrs
To be fair, on the competitive side, since you can't play comp until you're level 10 it's unlikely a new player will just jump right into comp. But the negative MMR could be a big problem too if not properly managed
That’s not true lol, you can play comp at lvl 1
I have a question when rl becomes free to play do the consoles then have to pay for ps+/xbox live?
Klejsti probably
smurfing is something I worry about and I think best way to prevent that is locking ranked for period of time otherwise there will be so many smurfs in low ranks it will look like GC matches.
Was there any information before july 21st regarding this topic
I don't know if its a good idea, but introduce something csgo did when it became f2p.
Have 2 versions of ranked. One free, and one 'prime'. In ranked, f2p players are going to be matched with f2p players, and prime with prime. This could help reduce the amount of smurfs the game is going to have.
Also, make it so, new accounts have to be at least Lvl 15 or so to play ranked.
Another idea I had was, change the camera settings. Cap the distance at around 300, height at 120, remove camera shake. If you don't want to cap them, inform them that increasing these values, could make you less precise.
Wait I have a Question, When It goes free to play, on ps4 will u need Ps plus to play it?
Probably
Not if you got a main account with ps plus. You just gotta set it to home console and you can have as many accounts as you want
I hope they have a plan to reduce smurfing without disturbing new players.
