Not hating on the name or anything but I think a good name for this mechanic would be “Velcro Dash/ing” since jumping on the Curve like that and not going anywhere is commonly referred to as getting velcro’d to the wall (at least among what I’ve seen/heard. Great video btw, always enjoy see people find new mechanics.
This was found by a player on reddit after a front flip and while practicing it you don't even need to do a flip all you need to do is jump face a little down and basically wave dash backwards and it will send you forward.
I've been using this when going up walls for a while. Has pretty much become second nature. Haven't put it into practice on any other curves though. Unless going up is different. I hadn't really thought about how I've been doing it. Just figured out I could use the curve as a free wave dash.

Another bit of usefulish info you can do this on the roof curve and inside goal and you get decent distance without any boost super eazy in goal just drive straight in and spam jump after your back tires are past the curve
I've been practicing this for about an hour now, and I decided to try it in the dunk house, because I like hoops. I found it easier to notice when you actually get the boost, because the map is smaller. Also, because it's smaller, you can practice faster by driving back and forth on the walls, instead of turning around to the same wall. I also tried this driving in reverse, and to my surprise, it's actually possible backwards.
But the curves in hoops are again tighter. So it might be similar to driving off the backboard but it's certainly not the same as the side wall curves in a regular map. And yeah backwards seems tougher but it's pretty insane with a half-flip after.
Could you do it going up the wall the same way? Maybe to push an aerial shot faster? Or the ceiling curve to get a faster ceiling shot? If so I think that’s where this could really be a game changer.
3:03 The centrifugal force actually is just a myth(unless it's real in rocket league, I don't know) and it's actually a result of the tendency of objects to move in a straight line. Because circular motion is unnatural, the object or car's inertia will "push" it down since it was driving down the wall, meaning it wanted to continue driving straight down, but there was a curve
