I love the salted caramel macadamia cheesecake from the Secret Recipe on the ground floor. The fish and chips is also good, so is the lamb shank and mashed potatoes.
Great video Chase and Shelbs! I am glad you left the rest of the tom yum soup behind, that did not seem right! Hooray for teppanyaki! Also, Shelby, your outfit is 10/10! I can't wait to visit Kuala Lumpur in the new year!
Thank you tons! It was funky that’s for sure haha loved the teppanyaki though! I appreciate that. It’s something new for me ☺️ enjoy KL when you visit, we already miss it!
Thank you guys for your sharing of Kuala Lumpur. Love this wonderful food court. I would like to visit this place if I am in KL👍👍Hope you both have a great time in Malaysia 🎉🎉🎉
Sogo is a japanese departmental store that was launched in malaysia many years ago in the 1980s. It is still the largest and only standalone departmental store in the country of that size.
Malaysia and Indonesia are quite similar in food since we shared similar race, we have Malay Indonesia and Malaysian Malay. In addition we have also race that come from Indonesia in 1950s and 1960s such as Minang from Sumatera Indonesia and Jawa from Java Island Indonesia. As for Malay land where the Malays resided were part of the current Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The colonizers, British and the Dutch came and divided us. The British also brought Chinese, Indian, and Sikh to work in Malaysia. So the food is similar to Chinese and Indian due to this. We also has many foreign workers from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand. As such, their presence influenced our food. Authentic Malay food is like nasi lemak, nasi kerabu, nasi dagang and many more. As for the nasi goreng you mentioned, the name is similar but Malaysia has so many type of nasi goreng. In Indonesia you can just order "nasi goreng" and the nasi goreng will be fried accordingly. Unlike Malaysia, try to order from a restaurant by saying "I want nasi goreng", the waiter will ask you, what kind of nasi goreng? Nasi goreng patayya? nasi goreng cina? kampong? cili padi? USA? and etc etc.
@tonyecelen7250 yeah right..first human being also came from Indonesia..don't embarrassed yourself and show your Indonesian kind of thinking to the westerners..😂😂😂
Sogo is one of the oldest malls in KL and so is Chow Kit, anyway I'm not from that area but I'm pretty sure they have renovated the mall entirely to give it a new & modern outlook
Ah yes, SOGO. My favorite shopping place to shop for branded clothes. They always have good deals on clothing. The food court I would say decent. I mean the pricing is on a bit of expensive side for locals but that's about it. The taste would be probably just nice.
U guys are right…Malay food is like asking what is canadian food? Such a mix of chinese, thai, Indonesian, indian flavours. I don’t like ordering thai dishes in Malaysia tho bc they often taste a little different (like when u were in laos) Better to stick to the malay food like the nasi campur you saw there (rice with lots of curry topping options)… get beef rendang + mutton curry🤤. U guys are right, malay food has a lot of Indian + indonesian. Curry mee is always a tasty malay go-to in food courts too. KL is SUCH a perfect place to chill + unwind. Enjoy!
Yes thank you! You are totally right, ordering a tom yum was a big mistake haha but the teppanyaki was outstanding 😍 KL is one of our fave places to just chill, explore and eat! Love it here ☺️
Yeah food court food is like the entry level and somewhat to gauge the food around the area. Once you both start going to the street food level where the hawkers, warung and Indian restaurants are at. It's a whole new level of flavours.
You two are probably the most jolly and cute couple ever love your videos😅😄😄Coming from India ...so sorry you got harrassed that day in India...We are ashamed...Plz forgive us if you can😢😢😢
Basically, Malay food is nasi champur, which means Rice & Mixed dishes/Lauk. You take your rice & pick & choose your Lauk (dishes), same like in the mamak restaurants. Difference is, Malay dishes/lauk come in many different flavours/the spices used - gravy-based/Gulai, coconut milk, turmeric, kurma, also rendang, panggang (grilled), salai (smoked), fried-based, plain or with chilli, sambal-based, belacan, asam, anchovies, budu, etc.. Taste is totally different than the mamak/indian spices used in curry, masala, tika. You might want to Google Malay restaurants in KL. Kg. Baru area is 1. Restaurants that serve Nasi Campur, ie. not just Nasi Lemak. Malay foods/restaurants are aplenty outside of KL city center, near housing areas. 😁
I can see Shelb's expression was not so pleasant when she was slurping the tom yum soup. But the unpleasant experience changed when she tasted the dessert Tiramisu cake. Alright, I hope both of you enjoy your stay in Malaysia and taste as much food as you can.
I just had dinner, and you guys were still able to make me want to eat that teppanyaki dish... LOL >_< Haven't been to Sogo in decades. Looks like it got upgraded.
My husband and I were just in Kuala Lumpur from November 4th thru the 7th! I'm not sure how far in advance you film but would have been cool to run into you two. 😀
Malaysian national dish is Nasi Lemak. Other Malay dish is Gulai Lemak which you can find in Kampung Baru. For authentic taste of Gulai lemak or masak Lemak is in Negeri Sembilan.

Malay food you can try Nasi Lemak, Nasi Dagang, Nasi Kerabu, Laksa, Laksam, Mee Bandung, Mee Rebus, Nasi Tomato and many more....welcome and try Ramly Burger ok
Shelbs.. you are just like a typical normal wifey thing when digging your partner's food more than your own. Hahaha.. btw Malaysian foods have variety of mix taste from cross culture... So enjoy it all.
🟢Yes,more for food videos please ........If you love Tom Yam soup you should check out for " Laksa" soup as well.. Westeners especially american love it.... ... ............Malay or Thai cuisine in Malaysia should ideally be prepared by local Malays. What a wonderful video. Hope that you guys have had a good time at Sogo, KL. I used to shop a lot at that store.
There used to be a very delicious chicken rice and popiah at the Sogo food court, wonder if it's still there.
Both Seafood Tomyum and Teppanyaki are few of my favorites.
I love the salted caramel macadamia cheesecake from the Secret Recipe on the ground floor. The fish and chips is also good, so is the lamb shank and mashed potatoes.
Aw thank you! We appreciate that❤️
You know I saved that.. can’t resist
salted caramel anything😍

Another teppanyaki u should check out is in pavilion food court
And across the food court there's a good thai seafood restaurant

Tq for sharing
You should have asked for the crispy garlic to be added to your rice. It'll make your meal taste even better!😊
Glad you went to less touristy malls ..all this while we only see Pavilion and Suria Klcc..
You’re so right 😂
Thanks! We were pleasantly surprised with this one. The waterfall is a great touch ☺️
Yeah food court food is like the entry level and somewhat to gauge the food around the area.

Honestly the teppanyaki and desserts were 10/10 😍 I think the Tom yum would have been too but sadly it was overcooked
Best ice coffee on L7 (I think?) at Kee Nguyen. I also found one in the IOI Mall in Putrajaya.😋
You two are probably the most jolly and cute couple ever love your videos😅😄😄Coming from India ...so sorry you got harrassed that day in India...We are ashamed...Plz forgive us if you can😢😢😢
Aw thank you! We don’t hold any bad feelings towards that day, everything is fine. ☺️
Genting and sky works need to go sir😊

Very far in advance heheh long gone ❤️
You two are very cheerful, it's good because now many people are very gloomy and angry😂
i would suggest to take the LRT train to venture out of KL. There are hidden gems outside of KL city. Try venture into subang jaya area.
go to one utama food court there jungle inside the mall
one utama mall has jungle full of tree above u
Have you two ever seen the JEWEL at Changi Airport ? Which place do you enjoy most ?
No sadly! We thought we would see it leaving Singapore and we didn’t realize we actually had to go to a different airport to fly out.. big fail 😂

Suci dalam debu by iklim
Which place has better eats ? Singapore 🇸🇬 or Malaysia 🇲🇾? How about shopping expenses, which place is more affordable to you two ?
Both! We love eats in both countries! And shopping as a whole is more affordable in Malaysia we find
