I just recently changed my front brake pads and rear shoe brakes on my 08 Prius and this problem came up. The dealership quoted me 200 dollars to run a diagnostic on my car... That was way more than how much I spent on my brake pads and brake shoes! Came upon this video and decided to try it out. It worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing this video!
This totally does work. I have a code reader that does the ABS system , I read the system with my code reader had two abs codes for wheel speed sensor faults, I used the jumper wire as shown in video. Then scanned the car again with the code reader and zero codes found. I would say if you do this on your Toyota and the light comes back you have a fault in the abs system that needs fixing, its not just a false code thrown.
Changed wheel speed sensor and had to reset the abs light. Tried this method and worked. Toyota camry 1998 sedan v6 3.0L. Cleared the light first try. Thanks mate.
Wow! So glad this is here after 10 years. I had the same issue yesterday after replacing the axles and front brakes on my "10 Corolla. Really good video. Clear, concise and no eastern European accent to decifer. Really appreciate it!
For those who say it's not working - are you working on a Toyota and do you really have 4 & 13 jumpered. I would bet that Toyota owners who don't get satisfaction from this have the wrong pins jumpered. As he said in the video - after you jumper pins - turn on ignition to 1st position - do not start car - several dash lights will blink. The blinking dash lights indicate that 4 & 13 are jumpered . Also - correct number of pumps in x number of secs is important - AND - after you do the pump - REMOVE the jumper wire BEFORE starting the car. Jumpering 4 & 13 is used for many functions on late model Toyota's to include putting transmission into temp. check mode in order to set transmission fluid level on Toyota's that have no dip stick.
You sir are God sent. Thank you so much for sharing this. It solved my 06 lexus gs450h abs error. I've replaced the front pads and rotors and when I started the car it triggered a code. Tried all the methods presented online, but this worked prefect the first time I've tried. Again thank you. God bless!
THANX A LOT! prius III bugged after brake job, Toyota retailer wanted to charge me 4000€ to replace the whole abs system after a few internet research, i did the reset myself and it costed me 0€ THANK YOU !
Yeahhh!! Clip in the Pin 4 and pin 13. Turn on ignition, press brake pedal 8 times in a 5 seconds, lights go to blink, wait 30 seconds, turn off the car, pull off the clip, turn on the car and the lights are off. Toyota prius 2010. Thank you!!!
god bless you. I just replaced a brake line and hose and bled it only to find out that the braking system was locking out that brake. Since ive had this happen before when i replaced my rear brake wheel cylinders i was expecting this and thought i might have to take it to a shop. good thing you made this video and probably saved whatever ridiculous price they would want for this 2 minute procedure. (this was on a 2007 prius if anyone wondering)
@@surfside75 I'd you're certain youre experiencing the same issue where the electronics are locking out a specific brake I would try looking around the Internet some more for a similar procedure. If that doesn't work a mechanic should be able to do it, hopefully they'll show you how to fix it if you ask, if it doesn't require some fancy scanner.
This is a great trick to remember! I recently replaced some sections of brake line on a 2006 Highlander Hybrid, not realizing that the hybrid brake system was so different. After bleeding the system the traditional way, the ABS / Brake / 'Check VSC' / Traction Control lights were all on and wouldn't reset with a simple battery disconnect. This reset the entire VSC system. All the warning lights went out and everything is working perfectly now. Thank you! :-)
I own a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited, replaced the front left CV axle, wheel bearing, caliper and pads on all wheels. When the repairs were completed the VSC, ABS, and Parking brake lights were lit up. The ABS was not working; I tried to bleed the brakes thinking this was the problem, but to no success. Last resort I tried the above and it worked. Thanks, all codes cleared and the vehicle runs and drives great.
awesome. thank you. for those who have issues. use a wire or paper clip and insert into the obd. top row- 4th from the left. bottom row- 5th from the left. turn key to on , but not start. pump the brake fast 8 times, remove wire and start the car.
Thanks I have a 2004 Toyota Sienna and tried this method and it cleared the ABS light. First I tried removing the battery terminals and left it out for almost an hour and when I came back from lunch I put those terminals back on the ABS does not turn off like you have mentioned. Luckily I found this great video and using your method it works thanks so much!!
9/1/24 thank you BROTHER, just replaced my first ever CV at 33 yrs old lol Abs came on, was able to clear thanks to you! Now to see if it comes back on 😂 you rule dude
Damaged an ABS sensor changing rear wheel bearings on a 2007 Rav4. 4wheel, ABS, Brake, traction lights all on after R&R. This worked perfectly resetting all systems and saving a minimum 100 bucks for a dealership visit. Thank you
it work to reset the traction control light, i replace the rack and pinion, your instructions and a paper clip same $200.00 for dealer service fee THANK YOU !!!!!!!
Thank You, Thank you, Thank you!. I replaced the rear brake pads and the ABS/VCS warnings came on. I spent more time trying to get rid of the false warnings than I spent replacing the pads. I'm so glad I found your video. Worked like a charm. Cheers.
Thanks a lot. This trick works on my 2008 Camry! After checking the abs sensor resistance, the abs light turned on. Disconnect the negative power didn't turn off the light.
had the same error on a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid after changing the brake pads. I followed your video which clear the codes and reactivated the traction control & abs. Thank you.
Jope N1A the abs light will reset on its own after driving the vehicle if the problem.has been fixed .... no need for any of this ... the vsc and check engine will remain on if there is a fault code
Wanted to ask you a question , related to coolramone statement it does look like a paper clip , You state a jumper wire could please tell where and what excatly i need and how to get this ? please autozone was no help =(
Lexus is250 2008.Worked perfectly. Air bag off sign is gone. Just going to need to really get under the driver side dash to stick a paper clip in the tiny holes. Thanks!
Very helpful sir, this worked on my Toyota Camry 2002, I had an broken wiring harness rear left on ABS sensor. I fixed it but disconnecting battery doesn't help, so I tried this and it works well. So much thanks
Thanks a lot, this worked on my 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid. I also had the ABS, VSC system sign on after replacing the front axle, axle seal and tie rob, but this using method reset the ABS and other signs on my car.
Thanks for sharing🙏🏾. Short&sweet. It works on my xle camry 01. The abs light keep flashing 2_1 code which is the rightfront sensor or the abs module. The wheel speed sensor was fine. I replaced the ABS pump control cos the rightfront wheel not function. Running smooth now. Thanks again👍🏽
Thanks my friend, your advice has helped me a ton on my 05 Tundra, and this little tid bit helped as well, just about to do the steering rack, your video on that is excellent. Thanks again from one fellow Mustang, Tundra man to another....
I have Toyota Yaris 2012, put the pin in 5th one from the right on both rows, worked first time for me, no need to pump brakes just let the lights flash for about 5 secs
Thanks, I was working wheels and ABS/ VSC and Brake lights came and no front brakes. I tried the jumper from pin 4 to 13 and did the reset (pumped brake pedal 8X and it corrected my problem.
I did a wheel bearing and then my ABS light came on like Christmas and abs didn't seem to be coming on but I had brakes just a little spongy. Ended up having a minor fender bender on the freeway. The guy was cool with me and settled for 1500 which I really had to scrounge to come up with. So I lived at home and tried bleeding the brakes that wasn't doing much good so I figured out that there's a sub menu on my Harbor Freight code reader which will specifically clear ABS codes it's just doesn't clear them from the main screen. And unplugging it and plugging it back in which clears a lot of codes it doesn't work for abs because of course it's a safety issue as I found out the hard way today
Brother how you did it....I watched the video....I got the same car 2011 Camry hybrid and it is a push button start...I got the abs light flashing on the dashboard....the video says don't start the car but pump the brake 8 times....how we do on a push button start....thanks if you explain it to me how u got it done
LOL although this was literally the most infuriating video ( :D ) to watch because of camera aiming, I must also thank you for giving us this very valuable information. Thanks
Did this in my 2004 Tacoma after cleaning all the wheel sensors and connectors on the sensor harness the ABS light would still flash. I’ll update my comment if the light comes back. Update: The light came back after one full day.
Thanks for your video I decided to just hope and try to reset it and it worked thanks to your video I reset it with a paper clip Toyota wanted 150 buck just to look at it so thank you

Looked at a flash code list online and it was the passenger side not the driver side and I went to physically inspect it and the cable straight up ripped.
