Scotty Kilmer I've been watching you for so long now! My father says he used to listen to you on the radio? I really need your help!!!! My wife and I are looking into buying an SUV our max budget unfortunately is $3000 I've been out of work for medical, but I would love to know what you recommend! Up here in New England we have salted roads and rust. My ABS system was normal but traction control engaged the right hand brake around turns. This was about 1 minute after I picked the car up after alignment. They had replaced a broken stud. They were unable to look at it and when you turn on dry pavement and you skid alarm beeps you can't live with that. They couldn't tell me what wheel the stud was replaced. I found the new stud and it was opposite the wheel that had the problem. I pulled the sensor and found a ton of metal filings stuck to the ABS Sensor magnet. That must have given incorrect wheel speed and caused the anti skid to kick in. Blew out the sensor, the hum and for good measure popped the axle nut and blew out rust there. Scotty, man I remember you on one of our local TV station here in Houston. I must admit you have help me and my family out so much. Thank you sir for posting your knowledge it just helps to know that there is an honest mechanic in town. (Thanks for the good work)
Thanks Scotty. I have a 2003 Chevy Astro Van which had the ABS Module and pump replaced less than three years ago. I haven’t been driving it much the last week but lots of rain here visiting my parents. ABS light came on yesterday after sitting 3 days a. Needless to say I am not thrilled but after researching and watching this video I am relaxed now :)
My ABS light came on while driving home through a snow-storm last weekend. Great feeling when you're 7 hours from home. You nailed it, $1,700.00 plus installation. I live in the snow-belt, so going with no ABS isn't a very good choice. Thanks for the outstanding explanation. BTW, it's a 2007 Honda Element. I'm still hanging on with that one.
Thank you Scotty for telling the truth about ABS…. When your ABS system has a problem it simply turns OFF and reverts to the way cars used to be BEFORE they had ABS systems. (OBVIOUSLY if you understand cars) UNFORTUNATELY, there are MANY dishonest UA-cam videos by mechanics that say: “If your ABS and Brake lights are on, you MUST get it fixed otherwise you are in danger of having a serious accident.” Basically those other sites are trying to convince people that don’t understand cars that it is an emergency that needs spending money on immediately. An ABS system that has stopped working SHOULD be repaired but the truth is that (excluding OTHER brake problems) when an ABS system stops working it just turns off and it is like driving a car BEFORE having ABS.
Scotty, thanks to you I cleaned a couple of sensors and my pickup no longer has ABS disabled. I always start with connector cleaner if I don't have a fancy scanner. Loose connections have been responsible for 40% of my vehicle problems.
That's true..makes alot of sense to start with the least expensive issue that could cause a problem. Most mechanics won't tell you that because that would be like robbing themselves of a paycheck.
You could explain that if the light is on you can pump the brakes to help avoid locking the wheels up. You know like how people drive cars before ABS saved us all
I just bought a ranger whose abs light came on. Tire discounters said the module couldn't read a rear sensor which told me that the rear sensor was bad. Then tire discounters told me I didn't have a rear sensor. Moral of the story? Go online first.
I had my ABS modular rebuilt by a place in Mexico. Can't remember the name of it, found em on the internet. It was very reasonable, and worked great the whole time I owned the car.
I know this is an older video but I just bought a used 2000 4Runner and the ABS light so I figured I'd see how to fix it and of course you, THE Scotty Kilmer, have already made a video on it. Been watching for a week now... and now I'm finally subscribed. What a legend.
A lot of times if it’s showing a wheel speed sensor fault, unplugging that particular wheel speed sensor and cleaning the corrosion and dirt off of the male and female connections can solve the problem. Where I live whenever there’s a tidal flood people like to drive through the saltwater that’s on the roads not knowing how much damage they’re actually causing.
Most 2002 to 2007 GM vehicles had bad wiring harness's for the ABS from the wheel and up. Common issue due to thin wire used by the GM contractor they used. Stepper motors for the cluster go bad as well and have led to accidents and tickets due to people not knowing their true speed. Class action suit was filed and GM replaced clusters on vehicles 7 years from manufacture or 70k, which ever came first.
If you have a chevrolet silverado or another similar truck, if the ABS light comes on, check the wheel bearings!! Ours went out on a trip. We would hit a bump and the abs light would come on and then go off......when we got back home, the wheel literally was falling off the front on both sides. Barely made it back. Replaced both hub assemblies. The tone rings were broken and the bearings were falling out. The wheel was wobbling. No bearing noise before this event. 2005 silverado with 70k miles on it. Learned a valuable lesson that day. Both sides failed at the same time...both made in USA.
Scotty Kilmer I especially like the videos about Mercedes bent , notice I miss spelled it because I hate those cars and also the drivers that goes for bmw to the ultimate puking machine even if I was rich I still wouldn’t drive one .
On my Ford truck my ABS lights came on 4 years ago and got quoted $800 to fix it from the dealer. Been driving fine ever since.... Normal mechanical brakes do the job fine
Yup. Same with my friend. Driving a Jeep for four years with abs lights on. Never had a problem. Didn’t want to spend the $600 to get it fixed. More so if it’s $800. Works fine for him.
If you really wanted to get the light off for maybe 10$ of less. There is a abs line under the passenger side dash in fords, unplug it and connect the male prong to a alligator clip connect Ed to the negitve terminal on the battery for 10 minutes. 90% of the time this works
Thank you. I also have an old car with the ABS light on. But after your video I feel more knowledgeable and will drive carefully when it rains cause I don't have the money to fix it.
The ABS light came on in my 2003 Toyota Sienna that has nearly 200,00 miles. I wasn't going to worry about it too much as I was going to get rid of it in the upcoming year, but had it in the garage for them to take a look at something else. They came to me and asked if I knew that my ABS sensors on the rear wheels were just hanging there. I said I had no. They put them back in and the ABS light went off and all was fine for a little while. The ABS light came back on and I crawled underneath the vehicle and saw they had fallen out. I assume whatever had held them in had rusted away (I live in the northeast and the van has lived outside for its entire life). I glued them in with some e6000 glue and they have been fine.
ABS light came on on my 2002 Toyota Sienna. Just removed the 2 front ABS sensors and wiped them with a rag to clean them. Everything was fine after that.
Thanks scotty I am having this problem and was scared of brake failure but now I know I can drive it any way until I hunt down the problem thanks for the piece of mind
On my 2002 GTO the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree . Everything worked fine .Took it to a dealer . Diagnosed abs module , the box of electronics that bolts to modulator . $ 1200 . I said just unplug the thing and I'll drive with no abs , like every other car I've ever owned . The mechanic said if I do that the main computer will read that the brakes have failed and the car won't start . So I just drove it to a wrecker and bought a used one . $ 150 . All the lights were still on . The wrecker said the computer had to be re- booted . Back to the dealer $ 200 for a re- boot . Had the car another 5 years before selling it . Never had another problem with it. I hate modern cars and damned computers for everything . ps . I'd like to know if the dealer was truthful about the engine not working if I unplugged the module . The wrecker said it was BS .
Alex Y , that's what I think too . I think the dealer was lying to sell me the $ 1200 unit . The dash lights glowing bright red drove me nuts . That's the main reason I fixed it . I don't give a damn if the abs works .
Useful Entertainment , new cars are undoubtedly safer and more reliable but I do miss the simplicity of the old girls . A 69 Mustang or Camaro would be nice .
The dealer was lying. The car will start, drive and brake just fine without the ABS. All you had to do was pull the fuse and leave it out. The ABS and brake light would stay on but the car would function fine. You just wouldn't have ABS.
My abs light would intermittently cone on in my 01 4runner. Didn't bother me until the battery light came on as well one day deep into the woods. Knew it was the alternator then. Changed that out and never seen a light since.
dude, you are totally awesome. And hilarious and extremely informative. I watch this video as soon as I saw that my ABS brake lights came on and guess what, I was freaking out. But I am not anymore. Thank you go Astros
On the topic of abs, it's a good idea to explain what abs is to new drivers and how the brakes will sound and feel real weird when the abs activates so kids don't panic the first time they slip a little.
Scotty you always have th answers to my questions and I appreciate you for your vast automotive knowledge ~ I'm a single woman with limited funds & resources ~ you have made it possible for me to continue driving my old jalopy for an extended amount of time and I thank you from th bottom of my heart 😊
ABS comes in handy even in Houston because if it hasn't rained in a long time the road grime/oil builds up and when it finally does rain the roads are slicker than snot. I found the hard way in a Toyota Tacoma without ABS brakes.
Thank you so much! I’m going to get mine checked because it comes on and off all the time. Good to know that I can ignore it if it’s an expensive fix 😂
Lloyd Dailey Thank you Lloyd... my ‘02 Tahoe has had the ABS light on since I got it. Brakes perfectly fine... just got a bit paranoid cause man I hate spending big money on simple repairs.
I had a Ford F150 that locked the brakes up the 1st time you used the brakes when driving every time. Replaced the abs sensor, still did the same thing. Sold the Ford, bought a Toyota.
Fluid level drops as your brake shoes or pads wear, adding brake fluid is NOT recommended as it will end up all over the place when you have the brake shoes or pads replaced and the pistons are pushed back to their original position. If you have to add brake fluid for any other reason you have a leak, the system is sealed, so if you are losing brake fluid there's a leak. Unless your brake shoes or drums are pretty worn down, the fluid level in the reservoir shouldn't be very low.
I have a Toyota Rush 2007. The ABS indicator stays on so I did a scan at the garage but they could not locate the problem. They even checked all 4 sensors. Finally, a student of mine told be that both brake lights were not working. I replaced both asap and ABS problem solved!
ABS pumps are a pain to change. They always seem to be in a tight place and it's never fun to remove six corroded flare nuts from that tight place. The lesson here is don't be a mechanic in the north east US!
Hey Scotty, I've been driving for 60 years, in the early days without ABS you adapted to the road conditions. I'm out in Cambodia now, driving a Ford ranger XLT, my ABS light is on at the moment, I'll get my head in gear and try a few of your suggestions my friend 🙏🏼
First thing to check...ABS fuse ..Open your fuse box read the contents pull the ABS fuse See if its blown..Yes? You have a short in your wiring system Seek a mech, No? Then your looking at speed sensor or ABS module For me it was a Module Famous for getting cracked solder points ..I resoldered the points Added thermo paste where needed and resealed the unit ..Saved myself $600 on the part and $100 on a scan and $200+tax at a shop
Great video. As usual. We can only wonder how many people have the ABS light pop on and they Tow the car miles & miles. Then the Shop hammers them $$ for what is usually an easy fix. Or no fix at all.
The abs on my 87 Toyota Supra never gave me any problems and works great. It is also a 3 channel system so it uses a sensor in the transmission for both the rear wheels which is very cool for a early style abs system.
Wow! Thank you so much for that. You answered every question I had. Very precise and to the point. And you did the whole video without talking down to anyone as well.
Like someone's girlfriend below, a week after I bought my 2000 Regal GS, the ABS light came on. I cannot remember how I found how to fix it, surely here on UA-cam. I removed the electrical connector to the ABS unit, bblasted brake cleaner on the contacts, put it back. All well.
I drove my 1994 Toyota Pickup for 5 years with the check engine light on. Passed the mandatory emissions test twice during that time and I kept on going. Finally I got tired of seeing it so I got the oxygen sensor replaced. Scotty is a man of common sense and that is so rare in today's world.
I live in Houston too and we might not have ice or snow, but what we do have is.... Houston drivers! Maybe not the most reckless drivers in the country, but if it starts to rain (or gods forbid its a year we actually get snow) our fellow Houstonians decide the safest thing to do is to drive like a bat with its @$$ on fire to get where they are going "before the roads get dangerous!".... ABS has saved me more than once from someones unsafe lane change or sudden stops on 225, 610, or 45 lol.
Well, well, always love your videos, Scotty. Nowadays you can buy a fairly cheap scan tool to get the answers you want. I bought one for around 70 bucks to help me pin point the bad wheel sensor. Keep up the good work Scotty my boy! :D 101st
My 01 Blazer light comes on, Abs and Brake light. Tried getting from the junk yard and didn't work and didn't expect it too. Finally I ordered brand new from Chevrolet. Both were 2,200 bucks and 90 bucks to install.
I want to know how (if possible) to turn OFF the ABS light on my '96 Bonneville since the ABS problem will cost more to fix than it's worth. I don't want to keep seeing the light.
fun fact i have a 2000 model avalanche and the abs failed in a way that i had no brakes till i disabled the abs systems electrical ie: pulling the fuse and unplugging the actuator
The wheel hubs are prone to rusting in the "salt belt" area of the US.. The rust pushes the sensor out the hub.. Terrible design.. Easier to just pull the fuse.. I did that in my 01 Tahoe
Yep. Same thing on my Santa Fe. The brake pedal would push up so hard it would kick my foot off of it. Pulled the fuse about 5 years ago. Been good ever since. Had to learn to live with the ABS and brake light on though. Mine was caused by a cracked tone ring. I need to change the CV axles now so I'll put the fuse back in when I do them.
Most 2002 to 2007 GM vehicles had bad wiring harness's for the ABS from the wheel and up. Common issue due to thin wire used by the GM contractor they used. Stepper motors for the cluster go bad as well and have led to accidents and tickets due to people not knowing their true speed. when pressing the brake petal it goes half way down before kicking in to stop the car.. plus the abs light is always on. I went to mineke and 3 shops in Manhattan and the Bronx. i Changed master cylinder 3x changed disc brakes and back rotors, changed all 4 brake hoses and changed the front calipers, changed pump behind the master cylinder and lastly changed the abs control module. The problem still persist mechanics all seem to say you don't need the abs system but from what i've learned online is the abs pump helps with the petal going down before the car stops. Scanner could not read the abs system at all with the old and the new abs module. Im lost for what to do as they just tell me drive the car like it is and stop wasting money.. but id like the car to run right.
Shine Onn ENT. Is your car the 5 speed or the 4 speed? If it's the 5 speed, check your trans fluid level. It's very important on the 5 speed trans. Too much fluid and too little fluid will make the trans very unhappy. If the level is good, then go and check your transmission computer. If it is filled with transmission fluid, clean it out with maf cleaner, NOT electronic cleaner and let it dry overnight. After this you need to replace your pilot bushing. Even if there's no fluid in the trans computer it's still a good idea to replace the pilot bushing. If that still doesn't do anything, then you need to replace the conductor plate in the trans. It's above the valve body. The 5 speed is very reliable mechanically. Almost always the conductor plate is the problem. Also even when you replace the conductor plate you may have to clear the error codes otherwise the problem will remain.
The ABS light on my Camry 2003 started blinking. This was two days after I had an oil change and complete multipoint inspection done at a Toyota dealership service center. First the check engine light came on AND THEN after a few hours, the ABS light started blinking. I’m short on finances at the moment and worried about the cost of repairs.
Me too, not worth the money to fix, and in my case rear ABS only isn't useful for anything in the first place...course ABS, traction control, stability control, etc. is nothing more than a safety nanny that let's people who have to business behind the wheel drive :(. Most of my vehicles don't have any safety features at all, and guess what, nothing fails in them because there's no damn computer to fail. Air, Fuel, Spark, that's all I need in my vehicles to get going, I did upgrade the brakes a while back as the brake pads that were on it along with the discs and drums were horrible from the beginning...don't buy cheap brakes or brake parts, at some point you will want to stop LOL.
Be careful. If you drive a car like that and have an accident your insurance company can claim you were driving a car knowing it had "defective brakes" and deny your damage or liability claim.
yeah flash code car . You can use the paperclip method and if you don't see them dangling there either tucked in or you'll have to unclip them from there female connection. On the passenger side under the dash. Should be a blue connector. Once you unplug it from its connector home you can insert the paperclip first then put the ignition in the on position
With OBD1, when the blue connector is jumped (with a paperclip) will the car flash an error code showing specifically what's wrong with the ABS system, or does it only flash codes about engine problems?
My dash brake light came on in my 95 Nissan 200sx and we found a leak. The guy at the place I bought brake fluid said the best way to stop a leak in a line is to stop using it for fluids. So I crimped the brake line before the leak with side cutters. I had to do it 5 or 6 times to stop the leak but it’s fine now. I saved a bunch of money over going to the dealer also.
Im trying to fix this issue on my wifes van at this moment. Thanks for the information. I just changed my caliper shoes and replaced the brake pads a week ago. The brakes are hard and the ABS light is on
Most 2002 to 2007 GM vehicles had bad wiring harness's for the ABS from the wheel and up. Common issue due to thin wire used by the GM contractor they used. Stepper motors for the cluster go bad as well and have led to accidents and tickets due to people not knowing their true speed. There is also connection to wheel bearings. My repairman said that broken wheel bearings has damaged the abs cable and they both need to be replaced at the same time. Otherwise same problems will come back. Those cables are one third price in internet than stores and I order wheel bearing at the same time. I scanned and it told right rear wheel has connection problems. It comes off and on very randomly and cold weather and warm engine has influence for that.
Hey Scotty! Greetings from Frisco Texas! I’m a new fan of yours. I think so far I have watched more than 50 of your videos. They have been very helpful as well as entertaining! Keep up the good work!
Critical Thinker I just crimped a leaking brake line closed with side cutters on my 95 Nissan 200sx. I only need it a few more months and it’s going to become a field car going to scrap.
Thank god. My light just came on while driving (April 3rd 2021). So long as I can keep driving until I can get a mechanic to look at it I can remain calm. The light will occasionally turn off during a drive, but not for very long. I hate knowing so little about cars.

Scotty, thanks to you I cleaned a couple of sensors and my pickup no longer has ABS disabled. I always start with connector cleaner if I don't have a fancy scanner. Loose connections have been responsible for 40% of my vehicle problems.
Just think the car would still be parked at the shop
That's true..makes alot of sense to start with the least expensive issue that could cause a problem. Most mechanics won't tell you that because that would be like robbing themselves of a paycheck.
You could explain that if the light is on you can pump the brakes to help avoid locking the wheels up. You know like how people drive cars before ABS saved us all
was panicking when I saw my ABS light turn on, this video really calmed me down.
What is bmw 1999 rs1100 abd unit pin 25 and pin21..?
I just bought a ranger whose abs light came on. Tire discounters said the module couldn't read a rear sensor which told me that the rear sensor was bad. Then tire discounters told me I didn't have a rear sensor. Moral of the story? Go online first.
Okay I don't get it what he means do does it take off??
I had my ABS modular rebuilt by a place in Mexico. Can't remember the name of it, found em on the internet. It was very reasonable, and worked great the whole time I owned the car.
I know this is an older video but I just bought a used 2000 4Runner and the ABS light so I figured I'd see how to fix it and of course you, THE Scotty Kilmer, have already made a video on it. Been watching for a week now... and now I'm finally subscribed. What a legend.
That's cool
A lot of times if it’s showing a wheel speed sensor fault, unplugging that particular wheel speed sensor and cleaning the corrosion and dirt off of the male and female connections can solve the problem. Where I live whenever there’s a tidal flood people like to drive through the saltwater that’s on the roads not knowing how much damage they’re actually causing.
Eric Fortune Jr. ,,, Do you know what a,,,,. Ringtone,,,, Is on a car,, ??? Or where it is located,,,. ???
Good point thanks!
It's good to know definitely going to try doing that to mine hopefully that's all it is
How can I know where is the speed sensor please
If you have a chevrolet silverado or another similar truck, if the ABS light comes on, check the wheel bearings!! Ours went out on a trip. We would hit a bump and the abs light would come on and then go off......when we got back home, the wheel literally was falling off the front on both sides. Barely made it back. Replaced both hub assemblies. The tone rings were broken and the bearings were falling out. The wheel was wobbling. No bearing noise before this event. 2005 silverado with 70k miles on it. Learned a valuable lesson that day. Both sides failed at the same time...both made in USA.
I don't even have ABS on my 2001 Honda CRV. Just enjoy watching Scotty talk about cars!
Thanks for the support 👍
ccmaster86 me too
Scotty Kilmer I especially like the videos about Mercedes bent , notice I miss spelled it because I hate those cars and also the drivers that goes for bmw to the ultimate puking machine even if I was rich I still wouldn’t drive one .
2001 and no abs? Wow! My 1995 Honda Odyssey has abs
My 87 Toyota Supra has abs and work great :)
If your ABS light comes on, go to the gym. Time for a workout to get ABS.
powcar91 worst joke ever
these are the kind of jokes you come up with if you spend too much time at the gym...
actually its not that bad
powcar91 good one...America needs it, almost every female's got a fat ugly stinky belly....hahahaha
How did my car know I am out of shape and need to go to the gym? Must be the sensors in the seat...
On my Ford truck my ABS lights came on 4 years ago and got quoted $800 to fix it from the dealer. Been driving fine ever since....
Normal mechanical brakes do the job fine
Taylor Hennesey same 😭
Yeah. Normal brakes are even better if you know how to drive in slippery roads. Sometimes ABS even unnecessary lenghtens the braking distance.
I almost got in an accident because of ABS too. In some cars, ABS seems sensitive. It'll put you in a spin.
Thank you. I also have an old car with the ABS light on. But after your video I feel more knowledgeable and will drive carefully when it rains cause I don't have the money to fix it.
Gabriela Lamberti I learned to drive in a car with no abs
Same here no money to fix it so I gotta drive like a 70 year old grandma
Muchas Gracias; Ya podré manejar mi carro sin sentirme preocupado...
Bendiciones Scotty 🙏🏻
This helped me out big time. My car has the abs brake light on but still stops. Thanks for helping me understand.
ABS light came on on my 2002 Toyota Sienna. Just removed the 2 front ABS sensors and wiped them with a rag to clean them. Everything was fine after that.
I was born in Houston my friend all my family is there I would love to thank you in person! I have learned so much from you
im in houston by hobby and feel the same. good info from scotty.
Chris M I would've told the dealer I'm here to trade in for a 69 or 70 Model year lol
Coulda just pulled the fuse..
Anyone else's car just fine they just like watching scotty?
Lane B yea lol hes fun to watch
Bmws aren't fine
Bmw M3 e46 get out of here with your bummer bimmer
Mitchell Staley after your pos China car breaks
Lane B yes me I think he is funny
dude, you are totally awesome. And hilarious and extremely informative. I watch this video as soon as I saw that my ABS brake lights came on and guess what, I was freaking out. But I am not anymore. Thank you go Astros
Thanks for your update
THANK YOU! This was the ONLY video that explained the abs light easily! 😳
On the topic of abs, it's a good idea to explain what abs is to new drivers and how the brakes will sound and feel real weird when the abs activates so kids don't panic the first time they slip a little.
We need to save all this man videos in a memory card. In case the internet breaks or something 🧐
Scotty you always have th answers to my questions and I appreciate you for your vast automotive knowledge ~ I'm a single woman with limited funds & resources ~ you have made it possible for me to continue driving my old jalopy for an extended amount of time and I thank you from th bottom of my heart 😊
Thanks for the no nonsense explanation. Makes perfect sense.
Good to know that I can ignore it if it’s an expensive fix 😂
the only mechanic i trust hands on
You just made my day thanks !! I was so stressed out omw to work
as long as you can stop than don't worry about the ABS light !
Also, check the brake fluid level... if its low put some fluid in and get the pump checked out.
We need more people who help out in the topic, like ya'll and less people actting like kindergardners.
Oh thank the lord mine has been on for a couple months now. My brake fluid is black as hell, I think that could be contributing to the problem
Ahhh Scotty you has the fuse removed. I thought we were gonna get to see you fix it.
One Auto, he did. He put the fuse back in
One Auto, maybe.. click bait. I still think your right. And smart-
It's a Toyota, you have to really work hard in sabotaging it for something to fail or stop working.
Darksyne funny I got a Ford with an abs light on right now
You could sit around for a long time waiting for a Toyota to break on its own.
Great video. As usual. We can only wonder how many people have the ABS light pop on and they Tow the car miles & miles. Then the Shop hammers them $$ for what is usually an easy fix. Or no fix at all.
Who needs all that fancy technology. That's why I drive an '87 Ford Ranger.
All well.
Knowledge is power Scotty.
I don't even have a car but I love this channel
Bro I did not know he was from houston , I need to find this guy I live in Houston also .
Then it snows in Houston three days after this video went live. Funny stuff. I live probably 20-30 minutes south of Scotty.
Well, well, always love your videos, Scotty. Nowadays you can buy a fairly cheap scan tool to get the answers you want. I bought one for around 70 bucks to help me pin point the bad wheel sensor. Keep up the good work Scotty my boy! :D 101st
What brand/model scan tool did you buy that tells details about the ABS?
Love you scotty and your mini youtube classes on how to fix car problems so thank you Scotty we love you in California have a great day
Thanks soooo much for breaking that down.
Rev up your engines pull the fuse turn on lights Scotty is the man
Thanx Scotty for this...really put my mind at ease with your advice & guidance!!!
I'm so glad your channel has grown so much👍
thanks!
Hey Scotty- how about giving away this scan tool on the next Mechanic Monday!😀
Brad Van Hemelryck you and I both wish there not cheep
That’s a $700 -$1200 scan tool
My 01 Blazer light comes on, Abs and Brake light. Tried getting from the junk yard and didn't work and didn't expect it too. Finally I ordered brand new from Chevrolet. Both were 2,200 bucks and 90 bucks to install.
I want to know how (if possible) to turn OFF the ABS light on my '96 Bonneville since the ABS problem will cost more to fix than it's worth. I don't want to keep seeing the light.
Get a masking tape at Home Depot and tape it over 😂
This guy is the best on the web!!!!!!!
fun fact i have a 2000 model avalanche and the abs failed in a way that i had no brakes till i disabled the abs systems electrical ie: pulling the fuse and unplugging the actuator
that sounds like a problem worthy of a recall. On my BMW E36 my ABS failed but my brakes still work just fine 5 years later.
zuilok I had an 01 regal gs, & an 04 impala. Same problem, same solution. Must be a Gm thing.
Class action suit was filed and GM replaced clusters on vehicles 7 years from manufacture or 70k, which ever came first.
when pressing the brake petal it goes half way down before kicking in to stop the car.. plus the abs light is always on.
I wish u stayed in chicago cause these auto shops here are monsters a guy told me 4k for a rebuilt dodge magnum 3.5L transmission smh
Next time don't buy a dodge buy a mitsubishi, their super reliable Japanese vehicals.
You lucky in Texas 8k
Shine Onn ENT. I know what you meant
I use black electrical tape !
Rodney Brand Well you don't really see white electrical tape, so it isn't lol.
Your pretty cool with your statics , you make your videos interesting to watch , even if sad , your able to fix that with a smile , good work bro .😎
We've got a 1993 Honda Accord EX with an ABS light on. Since it's OBD1, I assume that the fancy diagnostic scanners wouldn't be much help...correct?
I think there is a way to erase it with a paper clip , there might be a video somewhere on youtube
yeah flash code car .
1993 doesn't have OB2 port, buy cars without ABS system.
Where were you when I needed you in 1993?
You’re the mechanic I always wanted!
ABS? I thought that ment my car had a 6 pack under the hood like an old Mopar...
"..maybe 4 times in the last 40 years." So true. I had to chuckle (also long time Houstonian). Thanks for the tips!
Video got uploaded like 15 minutes ago and it still have so many comments.
some youtubers would just say "we solved it", just by replacing the fuse. thanks that you explained that too
good to know.thanks
My dash brake light came on in my 95 Nissan 200sx and we found a leak.
The guy at the place I bought brake fluid said the best way to stop a leak in a line is to stop using it for fluids.
So I crimped the brake line before the leak with side cutters.
I had to do it 5 or 6 times to stop the leak but it’s fine now.
I saved a bunch of money over going to the dealer also.
or spend half an hour on the internet learning how to break like the pros and then another half hour practicing breaking like a pro
Slicerwizard fuck off :p
Are you another one of those people who claim they "know how to drive" and don't "need" ABS?
Im trying to fix this issue on my wifes van at this moment. Thanks for the information. I just changed my caliper shoes and replaced the brake pads a week ago. The brakes are hard and the ABS light is on
ABS doesnt have anything to do with the brake pads. Mine are new on a mercury and light stays on. I want to know how to turn the annoying sound off.
Hey scotty what do u do to prevent mice from getting into the car and causing damage?
stop leaving cheese in your car overnight
Moth balls
If you want to get rid of mice, use some decon.
Roasted
moths don't have balls.
None of your intro cars have working abs though
they did, but I disconnected them so they'd make cool noise for the intro.
Scotty Kilmer seems legit :-)
Hey Scotty! Greetings from Frisco Texas! I’m a new fan of yours. I think so far I have watched more than 50 of your videos. They have been very helpful as well as entertaining! Keep up the good work!
If I’m driving, hit the brakes and the ABS light goes on, I know that I’m dreaming. My 91 Geo Tracker doesn’t have ABS.....:)
Critical Thinker
I just crimped a leaking brake line closed with side cutters on my 95 Nissan 200sx.
Great info!
Glad this legend helps the common Joe.
Hi Scotty whats the difference between a hedgehog and a lexus, with a Lexus the pricks are in the inside.
That's a bmw joke.. Bmw drivers are the biggest pricks on the road
