Doug doesn’t give a S**t! I respect him for helping her and I respect him for sharing it in a humorous manner.
Doug is one of those truly unique brilliant guys. Extremely undervalued. He's the kind of anomaly that can tackle subject matter like this.

I can't believe I've never heard of him. Thank you. He is my era and I appreciate his dark sense of humour and it seems even more important now in this woke era to be able to hear him speak. He is libertarian and an alcoholic which is interesting. No excuses, no apologies for who he is. He is like Bill Burr's older more dangerous brother, the one that was in prison. A little less self-reflective and a little more tell it like it is. I spent last night listening to a few of his hour long vids. Again - thanks.

I was a little leery of my first listen to a dark humorist on such material, but he is brilliantly funny which from his Mom's sense of humor he tipped his hat to his gift coming from her. I guess I trust your taste in music. It's always a thoughtful reaction.
Doug entered his Mom into the MILF madness contest on the recent Legion of Skanks episodes and seeing pictures of her makes so much sense. That lady seems like the wildest but funnest lady of all time. It explains exactly how a Stanhope gets made 😂
Ah, I miss Doug. We communicated years ago, but kind of drifted off in our own directions and fell out of touch. He would sometimes send me a transcript of an act he was working on, and ask for my input. I'd tell him it was good, even though I didn't really laugh at it. Then I'd hear him actually SAYING the stuff on stage, and I'd cry from laughing so hard. In hindsight, I think 99.999% of people who might have tried to memorize the "bits" that he wrote and performed them in front of a crowd would have been booed off the stage. He made it all work by just being Doug.

"doug sent me .txt filez w/ stuff he wuz gonna say on stage 4 me 2 review lol" Maybe you can get a hold of him and ask him if he used the old AIM handle "stinkchicken" and if he used to send some of his works-in-progress to people that he knew. Ask for a few d*ck pics while you're at it, I guess.

The doc was called "How to Die in Oregon". You should read dougs book, "Digging Up Mother"
Doug's one of those comedians that says something a little raw early in the set and when it gets the reaction he's waiting for , tells you to buckle up , the ride gets way rougher than this...And he ain't lying...
Doug also had a phase where he would dig as deep a hole of possible, just so he could climb out.
Polo, please do more Doug he is great started around 1990 and hasn't sold out and can't be cancelled. Lived with joey diaz early on friend of Burr's. Shane gillis Bert kreicher and rogan all hung at his place for a while. You will enjoy his comedy.

At the very beginning, when he said he had proof of the afterlife, I instantly thought "Its obvious; that jacket came from a dead 1970's used car salesman." Wonder if he had on the Full Cleveland.
This didn't happen in a "right to die" state. Stanhope held back a lot of this story until the statute of limitations lifted.
My favorite comedian! Try "60 inches of AIDS". Or "Tribute to Chyna".
Doug can tell a story for 30 minutes, feeling like it's rambling with random asides, but then it wraps up sooooo perfectly because he was never lost, never rambling, everything perfectly in its place for that final hit.

@@Jackanddino Well, it's not illegal to kill yourself. Who would be prosecuted? It's illegal to assist someone else's passing. Which is bs, because it's not uncommon in hospital settings, it the patient's outlook is grim and the family agrees, to turn up the morphine drip...
@@karenfryberger4260It’s no longer illegal, but has been. Even in the US. Who would they prosecute? People who aren’t successful, but it’s less about prosecuting them so much as being grounds to void certain contracts and obligations. Think insurance.

DS is an interesting tester of what you can say in the search for a laugh, and part of what makes him funny is nervousness about what he might say next. For me, I do get it, but on the whole I find his world outlook a bit too extreme, a bit too challenging. He is funny though.

There are so many other things in life that are funny. This is not. People fight for their sobriety. It isn't funny that he said she blew it off. People who take their own lives do so because of hopelessness and despair. Again... nothing funny about that .😢
tragedy+time=doug stanhopes rawer than raw humor...doug gave you a valid reason for moms suicide...as the cancer literally escaped through my mothers skin i had wished she could have had control of that decision...also doug mentioned waiting his appropriate amt of time...if it happens to me id hope id have the wherewithal to have picked up something from the board game clue for myself just in case
