I’ve seen this channel around for quite a while and finally started watching some of the vids recently and this is the first video where it wasn’t cam and his truck was starting to wonder if he was just owner of the company or some private contractor or whatever else idk 😂😂
As an apprentice with a little over a year in the business, I love seeing how other guys set up there trucks and why they do it that way. Hopefully one day I can have my own service truck. Great videos and very funny and informative
The soot that comes from acetylene can be useful surprisingly. Not for mechanic stuff like you guys do, but for us welders it has its benifits. Like if a hydrolic cylinder piston on say an excavator snaps in half, you can use that soot to cover the crome coating so that it doesnt get damaged by any sparks or spatter that could hit it while you gouge out the crack and weld it back together.
Soot is a good temp indicator. If I had a guy pull up using propane I'd ask for them to send someone else. This guy just likes talking about tools . At least he knows Cam is the proper mechanic ...
At 51:50 he said thanks Einstein as if he even had a clue that 41 was 1 5/8. Cam was smooth with that conversion and the other guy didn’t wanna look dumb. That other dude is way condescending cam is wayyy humble love it
Thanks to everyone who took the time to bring us this content. It’s really neat my service vehicle is a 06 town car loaded down with enough tools to do just about any car truck or semi obviously I quit my job recently and went out on my own. Still tryna break into heavy equipment I do alot of dump trucks and semi trucks but but I’m just tryna save up for a legit truck like richards or cams truck can’t wait to get one. I’ll send y’all a pic when I finally get one a before and after I think you’ll get a good laugh at how I’ve managed to gut my Lincoln and turn it into a service vehicle all my customers are in shock and awe when they see how I gutted it and extended the deep ass trunk even made use of the roof lol 😂
I’ve got the hose clamp cable tool. From what I’ve seen, a lot of times you’ll see those hose clamps and they’ll either be in just the right position that you have to get them with normal pliers, or they’ll be in just the right position that you have to get them with that tool
Air hammer with blunt chisel to loosen fittings, big time saver. Air hammer with punch to loosen NOX sensors threads, good. I have two air hammers, a 50 year old CP it is great for these light touch jobs and semi blunt chisel for a slag removal. I use a Big Nasty Astro to replace the BFH where ever possible. I wore out shoulder driving in and out truck Budd studs. You guys are young, listen up.
I’m an owner operator of my own mobile mechanic business here in New Brunswick. I bought my first service truck 2 years ago, but I’d like to upgrade this coming year. Here in NB there aren’t many guys running crane trucks. It would be awesome to make a video/ review of some real world options of different mechanic bodies pros and cons
Richard that sleeper is a real life saver. I like bench seats better than my Ram seat, a person can sorta stretch out. I fell asleep one time, I fought sleep at that 5:30 am area for 60 miles and just as soon as i hit my off ramp 1/4 mile from house it was lights out, I went thru stop sign back on on ramp and on freeway. Another time after a nap about that 5:30 am area I waited for two logging trucks to go by before pulling on to road but that third one had to move into on coming lane. A few years ago a state forestry mechanic fell asleep, ran off road. You guys did a great tour!
MAC is all rebranded stanley and dewalt. after putting the snap on rep kids thru college i order most of my tools thru G2S cataloge and alot of napa tools
Pencil grinder. I use for bolts corroded in Aluminum. Forget ez outs. Used pencil grinder to remove ECM harness securing bolt which thread insert spun in ECM aluminum housing. Broken taps can be removed with pencil grinder. They are very important for service truck.
Last night I used pencil grinder on road call where driver didn't secure excavator pieces on flatbed. One fell off landed on drive line ujoint retained bolt, wiping bolt into yoke. Used the pencil grinder to remove bolt material wiped into yoke to allow bolt to be free to unwind, then used grinder to flatten out and counter sink center of jagged bolt center so as to drill and use RBRT extractor. Cam is right on as to pencil grinder in service truck!
Thanks for the tour. That oxy/propane setup is cool. I think I might try it out. Im setting up a little f350 service truck in the kootenays. Im curious what you guys have for insurance being subcontractors and how you get access to service manuals.
I drive a Summit m2 Frieghtliner with a bunk. and I can guarantee you that I run out of room. 9L 2 wd, great truck but i really wish it had an IMT bed with the same Summit Crane. Fuel tank capacity does look limited in that truck, beautiful setup and I will be stealing some ideas. Thank you very much for the video.
Enjoying the truck tours but, when will we get a 'minimum heavy duty tools' video? Headed to BCIT in the fall and I want to know what I need or don't other than a bunch of sockets and wrenches
Definitely a pair of those hose pliers, I tried the cable ones cam was mentioning but honestly I broke em in like a week. Gonna give the ones Richard has a try and hopefully last a bit longer
@@WaaaghJunkie I tried the Knipicks ones, like these of Richards you need a straight line shot for them to work. I gotten to use vise grips for truck heater hoses. The Paccar trucks use some plastic heater hose fittings which break in the block. The fittings in the back of the block are 'braille' only, you can only feel them, so the cool thing is use a small vise grip, compress the clamp, slide clamp up the hose, install hose on fitting, position clamp, then release vise grip, a easy one hand job.
Great video gents. As a road mechanic myself i love checking out how other road guys organize their trucks and seeing what they carry for idea's to try on my truck. Do you guys own your trucks or did the company you work for assign them to you?

Very nice to see the over the pond version of the service trucks. We use Mercedes Sprinters as service vehicles. All of the tools are stored inside. The inside is build with a Bott system. We do also not have cranes and less space, because you can still walk inside the van.
We have some lined up and we're planning some shop tours too! Is there anything with the truck tours you want us to focus more on? Anything we've missed or something that we show that you really like and want us to keep doing?

Touching on the bucket of junk, I do IT work and the rolling toolbox in my truck has a few random bolt and screw bins, it's crazy how many times I've had to tap into that to save me from running back to the office or saving a customer from ordering a part. Saved me countless time, much smaller scale than you guys though.
I have the hose clamp tool like Cam was talking about, don’t care for it. Seems like the end is too long and not in the right position to work. I just use the pliers style. I’m going to look into those that Richard had now though.
I need your guys help. What tool boxes are those on Richard’s truck. I have the same on my truck but don’t see the make on it. I had a spring clip break. I need to buy replacement spring. Can someone help me here
