    EDIT: It appears Capital One is making the Hertz President's Circle status on ongoing benefit on the Venture X, so that's a plus!

      @@SpencerJohnsonOfficial well, I guess I’ll apply after all. I was going to do the VX first, then the Savor One after 6 months. Might even look into the Citi Custom Cash to help me out with gas after that.

    I think the VX is the best card for the money however if you can handle the coupon book that comes with it the AMEX Platinum an argument could be made that it’s the most powerful luxury travel card with the travel protections, all of the lounge options it gives you and automatic statuses for just holding a single card

      Absolutely! As always, it all depends on personal preference. The Amex Plat is still the king of benefits, but whether or not they're worth it for you is the real question.

    Great video, and very timely for me. My Amex Platinum comes up for renewal in a week. Atlanta is my hub airport, though, so I'll bit my lip and keep it. I'm a total lounge addict and actually book slightly longer layovers to (1) lessen concern about missing a connecting flight, and (2) give me plenty of time to slip over to Terminal E for the Centurion Lounge. Thanks for the recap.

    Excellent comparison-contrast Spencer! My only exception is all points are not created equal. I struggle to compare the value of Cap 1 points with either UR or MR points. I just don't see the flexibility, $$ value, or partner alliances with C1. Perhaps if they mature beyond a portal-only issuer, added some transfer partners, etc., then maybe. Btw: I have all three for the lounges, insurances, etc. If Amex or Chase manages to produce a basic 2x multiplier, I would drop VX straight way😀 Thanks man👍🏾

      Thank you so much! And I agree with you. I listed the average cpp values as a way to explain that it's possible to use them all for the same value, but the ease of doing this is where the difference lies. To get rid of your VX, you could go for the Amex Blue Business Plus though! That's a 2x card for you right there. Or if you consider your Chase points worth a minimum of 1.5cpp with your CSR, the CFU is a minimum 2.25x card, granted it's still not a flat 2x normally.

    I have both the Amex Plat and CSR. Just carrying the Plat and offsetting the AF, but all the other perks and benefits are excellent.
    The CSR is running the trifecta and all that comes with it.
    Worth to keep both if you travel even just a hand full of times a year.

Would you recommend to wait to complete this trifecta as the CFF got a great limited time offer earlier this year with 5x on gas and/or groceries year round and I’m hoping it’ll be offered again during Q1 2025. But if it's one you desperately need for some reason, jumping on it now isn't a bad idea. Especially because you can get the bonus on it again in a couple years.

    CSR is hands down the best overall card, great travel credit and 3x multiplier, travel protection, 3x dining and 50% point boost! CSR pays you to have it if you can take advantage of the new doordash credit. Pair it with other chase cards and the average person will see the most benefit. Platinum is only a lifestyle improvement card if you have the money to pay to win. I used to pull out the platinum for dinner because of the 6mo resy 10x, they should make that a standard feature! venture x is garbage, terrible travel credit, terrible redemption rate and you have to deal with capital one... no thanks.

    Great video as always Spencer! I currently carry the VX because it’s so simple to justify as well as the CSP. I choose not to carry the platinum because the coupon approach is more trouble than it’s worth to me. Since your mention of utilizing the CSR 50% boost in a prior video I’ve been seriously considering upgrading my CSP to CSR at the 1 year mark. I know many people are “anti-portal” but if I’m honest with myself I’ve utilized some form of portal for most of my traveling prior to getting into the points game. Also, I’m rarely finding flight redemptions greater than 1.5 CPP as someone who primarily flies economy. I have above average income but prefer allocating my money to other aspects of traveling than the flight. Have you run into any issues utilizing the Chase Portal for the CSR boost? I’d love to hear you elaborate on it since it goes against the common theme of avoiding portals!

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  19 годин тому

      Thank you so much! The VX is definitely the simplest of the bunch and that can be a super power in a weird way! As for upgrading to the CSR and using the portal, I've found a lot of value in that. Every once in a while the prices through the portal are a bit inflated, but that's more specific to hotels than domestic flights from what I've seen. As long as you check every time, you should be fine! And you'll be able to get much higher values through the portal than directly with certain airlines and hotels so I've enjoyed using it personally. I should definitely make a full video about it down the line!

    LAX has no Priority Pass Lounges so VX and CSR are useless if you’re ❤to experience lounges here.
