I really hope it turns out that Perturabo turns out to be a demon prince of Vashtor, and the iron warriors along with the dark mechanicum could act as subfactions for that force, ala the dark Eldar cults cabals and covens operate. You'd have the iron warriors astartes, dark mechanicum tech preists and their creations and the forge feinds of vashtor, which would help give the iron warriors a more distinct identity as chaos astartes as well as reduce the needed unit load to add dark mech and provide an interestingly varied force
That would mean that he is essentially enslaved to Vashtorr's will, and that was his big problem with his brothers that became Daemon Primarchs. But I think he might take a page out of Vashtorr's book and make himself into a Daemon Primarch using pure warp energy.
Vashtorr: "I shall work with any Chaos Gods and traitor legions as long as I can innovate the technology of the Materium." Iron Warriors and Malice the 5th Chaos God enter the chat.
Tonite on Ridiculous Gear: Bricky advertises Manscaped to Vashtorr which is a lost cause as Vashtorr has no balls but instead has a plethora of wires where his scrote should be. DK attempts to feed a Maulerfiend whom he calls ''Mr Snuffles'' and Shy takes a particular interest in the Arks of Omen which might bring her one tiny step closer to world domination
Vashtorr may not have balls, but he has a pair of 500kg brass ball bearings. GW unfortunately deleted them from his stat sheet since they didn't fit on the tray.
I think one reason why Vashtorr's introduction into the setting has been received so well is that he fits right in and helps flesh out some old lore dating back to the Chaos Deamons codex from 4th edition, that being the Forge of Souls. In that lore, the Forge of Souls is a separate realm of Chaos, located in the Formless Wastes. The Wastes themselves is the vast area surrounding the domains of the 4 Chaos Gods which has not been claimed by them. The description of the deamonic forge realm, and how it operates is very similar to Bricky's description with a few additions. First off, the 4th ed codex mentions the Forge of Souls is operated by the "Deamon Forgemasters of Chaos", who are describes as being blind, their bodies are constantly changing, and they are hard at work making stuff. I can see GW simply stating that these guys are the acolytes and apprentices of Vashtorr as it was never stated who the head Forgemaster was much less having one. Secondly, it was stated that the forge gets some of its mechanical components from the wrecks of Tanks, Titans, and other engines of war from the Materium that have been previously "touched by Chaos", will eventually get pulled from realspace via any major warpstorm, find its way into the Ash Plains just outside of the Forges like some Cosmic flotsam being dragged by currents to some distant shore. I find the concept of wrecked Chaos tainted war machines being slowly pulled into the warp to be reforged as various Deamon Engines such as Soul Grinders very interesting, though I suppose shouldn't think too hard on how that would actually work. I'll just say Warp Fuckery makes it happen. Oh and speaking of Soul Grinders and ash plains, this leads to the coolest part and explains more about those deamon contracts. So apparently there is constant battle in the Ashen plains by a ton of deamons who are waiting for their turn to become a Soul Grinder or some other monstrosity. (Demonic cue lines are a bitch) According to the old lore, a deamon must sign what's called "The Oaths of the Iron Pact". These are 3 oaths a deamon must swear by in order to get their new Shiny and Chrome body that can operate in the real world for decades or even centuries without a constant supply of warp energy to sustain it. (Hence the massive cue line to get it). First oath is all souls reaped by a soul grinder is channeled into the soul furnaces as fuel. (This seems to have been changed slightly to a set number of souls with the new lore.) The second oath is that all machines destroyed by the claws of a soul grinder is offered to the forge. (Again, I'll just say warp fuckery on how this would actually work and move on) The third Oath and most frightening one of them all before a new soul grinder is released back to its patron god is that if the Forge of Souls is attacked by one or more of the armies of the Chaos Gods, they will come to defense of the forge, regardless of the Deamon's previous allegiances. (This is another reason why the big 4 don't fuck with Vashtorr)
Doesn't khorn have his own forges by his throne tho? Or is the fact that the other three will jump his ass if he screws with the soul forges/vashtor a good enough reason to why he doesn't mess with him?
@@elishafollet5347 Sorry it took me so long to respond, but you are correct. Khorne's Realm does contain massive deamon forges that manufacture various close combat weapons, (such as axes and swords) armor, and the components for Korne's Deamon engines. Note: I said components for Korne's deamon engines, and not the engines themselves. They are built elsewhere, presumably at the Forge of Souls. I believe that the Deamon armies of the 4 Chaos gods do manufacture their own "basic" weapons, armor, and tools within their own respective realms. You look at what a specific Deamon is equipped with, and it will seem to reflect the nature of both the realm and the god it serves. It doesn't make sense if this wasn't the case. Where Vashtorr seems to come into play is the fact the 4 Gods represents Specific primal concepts seems to limit the sophistication of the weapons of war each God can create on their own. They would need some... technical assistance outside their own sphere of control to help design and create better weapons, armor, and war machines in an attempt to one up their fellow gods. Vashtorr, who seems to represent the concept of innovation without restraint or morals, fits the bill perfectly. I mentioned earlier where the forge of souls gets its mechanical resources from, but I believe that the Forge of Souls receives the warped based deamonic resources it needs to continue building from the 4 realms of Chaos in the form of "tribute" or "gifts" as a way of buying Vashtorr's services. TLDR version to answer your question, Vashtorr can build bigger and better weapons than the 4 chaos gods can do on their own and so each one will try to keep on Vashtorr's good side or else or Vashtorr will stop building them thier cool toys. The reason why one God hasn't just claimed Vashtorr as its own is that the other 3 would band together and beat the crap out of said god. Vastorr cannot rise up against the other Chao Gods (yet), is that he doesn't have the power or resources to fight on their level. Thus a equilibrium of a sort is created and the Great Game continues.... I hope this helps.

58:46 tbf to Horus, by the time the Siege of Terra was underway, the other legions besides the DG and the IW were falling apart due to their chaos corruption, and iirc he was dying, so the only way he could win at that time was to go for the big guy, shut down the Astronomicon, and let the Imperium fall apart due to interstellar traveling being unavaivable without it. If he had more time/ his brothers didn't fall completely to Chaos, he probably would have taken as much time as necessary before confronting Terra like Abbadon is doing now
I would argue if Abby could whip all the Warbands and Deamons into shape and point them in one direction, he would be more dangerous than Horus. Issue is thats really hard to do when the biggest ones either Don want to listen to him, or would only do it for the chance to stab him in his back.

I am not sure if it is official but I read a couple of the arcs are actually in pretty dire straits. Like one got highjacked by Eldar Corsairs, one was disabled by the Inquisition by "unknown means".
I saw that on lexicanum and I believe the corsairs let the “Neverlight” go to fuck up imperial shipping lanes. Also “beast in scarlet” is getting rammed by….Hive Fleet Kraken remnants? How they survived the second Tyrannical war I don’t know. But yeah, I feel they’ll be multiple waves of arks
Love to see an Ark vs the Silent King's flagship as that's the most powerful ship in the universe so far. Also exciting to see Chaos get a new powerful enemy and would love to see him face a Void Dragon Transcendent Shard. Such cool dynamics. Edit: also the Segmentum Solar has a fleet so large even the 12 ARK's would not be enough to overcome them as they number in the hundreds of thousands of ships and defense monitors.
I don't know much about the Silent Kings flagship, but I imagine it would easily solo an Ark, since they are still relatively ramshackle. There are way more than 12 Arks on the way though, the first wave alone was 12. The book mentions "dozens" of Arks being produced.
@Johan Stenman yes I figured there will be 30 or more total as Space Hulk arks are still not as good as the Planet Killer, Blackstone fortresses, or Gloriana class ships. However, they are far more powerful than Battleships of the Imperial Navy and Ork rocks. Just want to see how durable they are. Maybe a smaller ship like an Overlords command vessel.
@Johan Stenman as far as his capital ship it's stated that it's the most powerful ship they have currently which means better then the World Engine which fought fleets and chapters of Astartes so far beyond a Space Hulk but would be a cool showcase of Necrons power against something other then the Imperium and Tyranids.

I don't even play the game and I hope this happens. Vashtorr fills a hole I don't think anyone fully realized 40K had until now.
That's such a cool idea, I'm sure it won't happen XD
DID YOU SAY PRIMARIS LIEUTENANT? I HEARD PRIMARIS LIETENANT.

That would mean that he is essentially enslaved to Vashtorr's will, and that was his big problem with his brothers that became Daemon Primarchs. But I think he might take a page out of Vashtorr's book and make himself into a Daemon Primarch using pure warp energy.
Vashtorr: "I shall work with any Chaos Gods and traitor legions as long as I can innovate the technology of the Materium."

This manscaped ad makes me think that this is no longer a joke, but a prophecy.

Vashtorr may not have balls, but he has a pair of 500kg brass ball bearings. GW unfortunately deleted them from his stat sheet since they didn't fit on the tray.
Manscape didnt say it had to be your balls. I bet they have a stash
(This seems to have been changed slightly to a set number of souls with the new lore.)
The second oath is that all machines destroyed by the claws of a soul grinder is offered to the forge. (Again, I'll just say warp fuckery on how this would actually work and move on)
The third Oath and most frightening one of them all before a new soul grinder is released back to its patron god is that if the Forge of Souls is attacked by one or more of the armies of the Chaos Gods, they will come to defense of the forge, regardless of the Deamon's previous allegiances. (This is another reason why the big 4 don't fuck with Vashtorr)
Enlightening, thank you
Nice lore tidbits, agreed that he fits very well with established lore.

If he had more time/ his brothers didn't fall completely to Chaos, he probably would have taken as much time as necessary before confronting Terra like Abbadon is doing now
True, and although the Imperium is larger now, it was MUCH more formidable and unified in 30k. So it was likely in the same ballpark of difficulty
I would argue if Abby could whip all the Warbands and Deamons into shape and point them in one direction, he would be more dangerous than Horus. Issue is thats really hard to do when the biggest ones either Don want to listen to him, or would only do it for the chance to stab him in his back.
