BIG NEWS: I have designed my own Survival Knife called “APO-1”. You can get it now at my online store: www.survivallilly.at/ Thank you so much for your support
I really enjoy your videos,I am recovering from a bad motorcycle accident and you help me escape. I can't wait to get back in the woods. Your personality and attitude are so wonderfully refreshing! Be safe and keep doing what your doing!
That looked great. You're right that mushrooms don't really look like the most appetizing food, but if you can get passed the appearance the first time, you are rewarded with some amazing flavor...especially when fried up like that. Thanks for taking us along with you.
just wanted to say that I absolutely love watching all of your videos! They are to the point (no blubbering on and on like some survival videos), very informative, and entertaining. :)
I had been eating mushrooms all my life, the white store ones, and I was not impressed at all. I've studied wild edibles off and on since I was a kid. I thought mushrooms were too dangerous to mess with so I avoided them. Then a few years back I came upon this little pocket sized book on them and studied it, then set it down. A couple of months later I came upon some growing under some shrubs and thought they looked familiar so I went and got the book out. They were what we call here deer mushrooms. After an overnight test to make sure they were what I thought they were, Ifried them up. Oh my god! I had no idea that mushrooms could taste so good! They tasted as good as meat! My old friends wife was Japenes and she got me onto shitake's They are very good too. I would like to try chanterelle's but have never found any. They are very expensive to buy.
hello lilly, I have a question. when it comes down to all the survival tools you own which one would you most recommend currently as the ultimate survival tool, and why? Thanks, Ollie.
Those look like the charcoal cap russella mushrooms I picked every 2 days from mid to late summer here in Illinois. I find loads of delicious mushrooms all the time! I'm going to pick some wild oyster mushrooms today.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Lilly...and just a word of caution to all your viewers...if you are gathering wild mushrooms to eat, BE DAMN CERTAIN YOU AN POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THEM AS EDIBLE VARIETIES...please, please, please...as a former search and rescue personel, I have seen people who poisoned themselves eating what they assumed were harmless 'shrooms and it is not a pleasant way to go...so get some training on what is edible in your neck of the woods...buon apetito, e Buon Natale...
Yup. This is the most important comment for this video. Do NOT start picking and eating wild mushrooms unless you know exactly what you are doing. This is no joke.
Yes indeed! There was a man in my community who harvested mushrooms from his property for years, feeding them to himself and family until he picked one he wasn't certain of and died!
+Hangassan 100% on this. When it is young the Green Spored Parasol, a very poisonous mushroom, looks like a white button mushroom which is edible. Eating anything in the wild you can not 100% identify and in COMPLETE detail is dangerous and foolish. I got poisoned, eating wild, when I was young and "invincible" and the stomach pain is indescribable. Here is a link www.mnn.com/your-home/organic-farming-gardening/stories/wild-mushrooms-what-to-eat-what-to-avoid
Hey Lilly , you should make some ghee at home and take it to your camp and use it as oil for cooking . It will make your eggs , mushrooms , & steaks even more delicious .
Merry Christmas Lilly. I could almost smell them 'shrooms sizzling. Roasting hand picked fungi over an open fire in your own shelter. It doesn't get much better than that.
Thank you so much! I only have to walk a mile to get enough Russula mushrooms for a meal. I didn't have Caraway but I did everything else that you did in the video. It was good and I enjoyed it! My friend has a UV light and the cat has parts that turn green from biofluorescence
Once back in camp with her mushrooms,i thought Lilly looked particulary warm and cuddly in this video.Don't know whether it was her hair tucked under her wooly hat or her fleece without a t shirt.Maybe a combination.Merry Christmas Lilly and thankyou
as always a great casual vibe to the video, nice videography & editing enhance the natural open feel... so i'm wondering if the extra cooking time is to get rid of toxins in the mushroom, or to achieve desired flavor & texture? thanks!
Food cooked/soaked in oil stays very hot a lot longer after coming off of the fire. A good way to wind up with a mouth full of blisters. Let that food cool down a bit longer, folks. Oh, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you ALL!!!!!
I just found this video because I was looking up Russula edibility, and how to cook them. I'm not finding ANY recipes for rusullas online. This video is really cool, i'm sure i could easily find out where you are -- oh, you're in Austria. I'm in washington state (the pacific northwest) and I love to go mushroom foraging, mostly for chanterelles, but i find Rusullas and all sorts of others.
Russian Russula mushrooms is "Syroezhki" (which means raw_eat). But they still cooked. Only eat them raw some survivalist. My favorite mushrooms. PS: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! ; )
Hey Lilly love mushrooms ❤ in my kit I always carry super glue for first aid and to make the inside of my backpack 🎒 tidy a use iron on Velcro which keeps everything tidy and separate 😆
Great video Lilly, and to me it doesn't have to look good to taste great. I like to make a spinach casserole that looks like someone else has already eaten it, but it is so yummy! LoL
I've noticed you always seem to put a very large amount of oil in your cooking. Is that a local thing? Or personal preference? Also can you compare the mushroom taste to any other mushrooms you've had? They looked good.
I wonder if you guys get russula xerampalina there in Austria? Here in BC, it's my very favorite mushroom & very un appriciated here, probably for a lack of confidence in Identifying for most. But if you do get them, you should try! They are amazing. Taste IDENTICAL to shrimp
Hey Lilly I really enjoy your videos. I have a Ideal on a video ...I would like to see a video on poison mushrooms vs. eatable mushrooms. I have heard of people eating the poison mushrooms and they get deathly sick. I think your viewers would like to know the difference in mushrooms. This type video, could help keep people safe in the wild. Thanks Lilly May God Bless you as you help people be prepared for survival.

For certain...mushroom poisoning is a miserable way to die...

in many cases mushrooms are indistinguishable from poison / non -poison without spore printing and examining under a microscope
Those look great!! Thank You for sharing!!

Hum, estes cogumelos devem ter ficado uma delícia, mas eu quando estou na floresta, eu não me arrisco a come-los, pois não os conheço...
"They don't look good but they taste excellent".... sounds yummy...

+Daily Sentinal stems were all wormy
I've noticed you always seem to put a very large amount of oil in your cooking. Is that a local thing? Or personal preference? Also can you compare the mushroom taste to any other mushrooms you've had? They looked good.
