My husband and I love lobster mushrooms. We are from the Oregon coast. We cook it with scrambled eggs. We also mixed it in fresh caught crab and made a cajun stir fry. It is so hearty and delicious. Great find guys! Enjoy! @OutdoorChefLife
Great video as always; really makes me want to visit Olympic national park as soon as circumstance allows. Lobster mushrooms are really interesting; you probably already know this but technically they are a fungal parasite that grows only on specific edible mushrooms like Russulas (and in the process making them delicious 😋) - you can see the red outer layer really clearly when Taku slices into it. Finally, I don't think Jocelyn gets as much credit as she deserves for her great camera work and her bush craft skills; drying out the wet wood on the grill was a pro move 👍
i've been foraging mushrooms since i've been a kid, never been into it that much but its still nice to be in the woods with someone you are close with.
Hey there, don't knock those pizzas Randy. For less than a buck apiece on sale, those Totino's frozen pizzas are an easy treat for old bachelors like me! Two pizzas, two beers, and I'm ready for a snooze. The thing about mushrooms is you can saute them a little in olive oil, garlic and shallots and then add them to the toppings on your pizza.
Best couple on UA-cam .. keep up the good work and thank you for the Soothing music. I can watch you videos and put my 7 months old Daughter to sleep at the same time!!!
Made the mistake of watching this right before lunch and I am so hungry! What a beautiful meal and great scenery. Glad you both enjoyed your trip up to the PNW. Thank you for showing everyone the beauty a lot of us are spoiled with.
Randomly stumbled upon this channel while looking for foraging videos. This dude might have the best production outdoor cooking videos out there/unique recipes. Great untapped niche for food videos. Awesome job
Your videos are awesome and I always get so excited when a new one posts. And thank you for showcasing the beauty of the PNW. Many people on the east coast think it’s just California on our coast, but Oregon, along with my home state of Washington have so much to offer!
I'm just binge watching these great videos. That pasta dish you made with the lobster mushrooms, the clams and the truffles is the definition of gourmet. Wild mushrooms are really good. Cheers! ✌️
been here since 6k subs, now its 410k im so proud of you taku! No videos missed, i like your journey! kinda reminds me of an anime,Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, and you are Soma's father exploring the world and finding flavors. Love it on how you get some recipes out of the things that you have. Man, how i wish i can do it like you. And you are lucky with Jocelyn, she supports you with all, catch or no catch, she is still there laughing and smiling, Good luck to both of you! Thanks for giving and letting us experience the life we cannot do so much, stuck in an office, as a breadwinner gotta work harder. :D
Hey Takun! just want to send you some love I'm an Oakland Bay area native and I have seen you work in the restaurant and I love your UA-cam channel and I get so inspired to go fishing and foraging when you make videos like this because right now I live in SoCal it's a really really rural area and I have a lot of really good hikes and trails and man you just you inspire me to do so much because I have a lot of time right now cuz of all this quarantine stuff not too much to do but hikes are free and you have proven that our backyards are plentiful. so thank you Taku and Jocelyn I wish you the lightest of feet and the safest of travels
My man living the best life. Keep up the great work!! This video especially, is the best one yet. The subtle background noise of the nature, the dark and rustic scenery and the passion we all can see in you. Love it.
You know your channel is good when you only see positive comments.. keep up the good work guys.. finally found something worth watching... more catch and cook tho please..
If you found Lobsters, there's a good chance you were near Chanterelles! Great video once again. Very happy to see my area treating you guys so well! ;)
Jocelyn's mushroom and clam finding skills remind me of the first time I went diving for Dungeness up at Mukilteo. I was diving with a friend who'd dived for crabs before and Dungeness usually bury themselves in the sand so my friend would just go up to a patch of sand and pull a crab out and I couldn't figure out how he was finding them. So he gestured for me to look real close at one spot he was pointing at. I still didn't see any "crab sign" and looked at him in confusion, so he gestured for me to get closer and mimicked eyestalks on his head and suddenly I saw the eyestalks and the mouthparts. Then I looked around and realized we were surrounded by crabs. lol
I live in Washington and I harvested about 30 pounds of lobster mushrooms off my property this last year. It’s my absolute favorite mushroom out there, they are so big and so tasty. Garlic and butter is all I ever eat then with, and they are absolutely amazing
Awesome! Plus everything tastes much better outdoors. Wish I was there I am a Western Canadian. In my opinion you are in some of the most beautiful country in the world.
the quality of this video is amazing. I remember when you just started and look at this quality now. great job on that. it makes it even better to watch. keep it going.
Moved from the bay to the PNW and probably will not ever move back, I miss the bay but it is just a wonderland for the outdoors up here. I miss halibut and stripers but salmon in rivers up here is just something special...
I have never heard of Lobster mushrooms till now. And I literally grew up in Northern California picking mushrooms with my parents. I would love to try it.
Hey Taku! Thanks for creating these great videos and keeping everyone entertained with your video during these tough times. Really appreciate the informative and awesome videos. Keep up the great work! 👍👍👍
Hey Taku ! cheers from Italy ! a trick to make pasta a bit more creamy, once you pour it into your souce, add a splash or 2 of your pasta water, the more white the water is, the better. It's starch, which will emulsify the fats of your souce into a delicious cream. Man I envy you, that is a beautiful forest you got there, reminds me of the trip I took to Seattle when I was a little kid. Your country is amazing !
Taku, When are you gonna stop playing and ask Jocelyn to be your “Outdoor Chef Wife”?🤣🤣🤣 #OutdoorChefWife
This comment is on point!
Do you, Taku take Jocelyn to be your lawfully wedded wife and spend the rest of your Outdoor Chef Life with you Outdoor Chef Wife?
@@EnycmaPie if it not break dont fix it.
@SouTube Fishing that's a solid comment right there. She should have her own channel if she doesn't already have one!

Looks better than what you can get at an actual restaurant! Amazing!
IMHO, there are awesome things everywhere. The trick is *recognizing* the awesome things around you. That, my friend, is where you excel!
i've been foraging mushrooms since i've been a kid, never been into it that much but its still nice to be in the woods with someone you are close with.
I think Jocelyn should have her own mushroom hunting show. She is a natural.
I'm eating a totinos pizza folded like a taco while watching this and I'm really questioning myself right now.
That is so funny. I keep coming back to your comment. Taku has set the bar high for everyone.
