I'm glad this video exist because I would never do this so I'd never find out what happens
I accidentally sided with the Geth but I didn’t have tali romanced at the time so I guess that takes some guilt away
I reloaded to save her and her people but I still feel the guilt of this awful paragon trap
I did this on my first ever playthrough 9 years ago. I really, truly hoped Tali could convince the fleet to stand down, then the Quarians and Geth could resolve their differences if I uploaded the code. Once I realized I couldn't Rally the fleet I knew I'd fucked up. That Suicide scene destroyed me, and was the only time I've ever reverted a save file in a blind Mass Effect playthrough.
Her people made their choice, legion's death was sadder. And actually accomplished something. Tali is boring as fuck
Exactly the same with me, I did it a couple of days ago, I always stick to my choices but this one I just couldn't deal with, especially since I had heard that Tali and Garrus get together (which I have confirmed) so I couldn't take my buddie's girl
@@darthnox7958 did u not romance tali in the first two games or is there some hidden plot I'm missing
@@turtleborg if you don't romance Tali and Garrus then you'll hear a couple of conversations during the last game, for example if you take Garrus in the mission with the geth ship you'll get a little hint there there's something going on, and sometimes when you go visit tali they're speaking, and then at the party in the citadel dlc Tali will say... Well, just make sure you hear everything drunk Tali has to say, then also make sure you go see Garrus on the Normandy just before the last mission, that's the most important part
@@darthnox7958 a shit well too bad for garrus tali is my nerdy bae he can go for one of the tentacle chicks
This is the Ultimate Betrayal...
Indeed.
It's the correct choice.
@@thelastMaster100 Siding with the toaster that deceives you couples times is the correct choice? Alright.
@@thelastMaster100 no it isnt
@@thelastMaster100you can save them both by making peace between them. This way you will have support of both.
You want to know something I didn’t realize until now? That distress call from the raya? That was tali’s birth ship. They had her listen to her childhood blow up before jumping. Hot damn I can’t believe I never connected those two before.
I didn't notice that until I watched this now and I'm like...wait a minute "vas Rayya" sounds familiar...Metal af. Only reason it didn't click with me before was because I never chose to kill the Quarians (even in my 1st playthrough).
this is probably one of the worst betrayals in gaming, letting your whole GF's species be wiped out. I only wish they actually made sheperd show more emotion after making him choose if either the geth or the quarians are eradicated.
"I care deeply about the quarian people 😃 " - This guy's shepard on the dreadnought earlier
about sums up how much bioware hated tali.
@@Quole1234I wish BioWare didn’t I mean seriously Liara is your writers pet I get that but do you have to disrespect my favorite romance so much
The Tali romance should have made the save the quarians option paragon due to his care for them and what reason do we have to care for the geth? They’re responsible for the death of 2 of Shepards squadmates with Legion being the only unit we care about
Even if Shepherd survived the war with the Reapers I think someone would have killed him for this.
Yh tali if she would survive her fall and also survives being hunted down by the geth on rannoch for months until the red crucible energy reaches them. All thought I think she would target all the crew of the Normandy past and present and there loved ones, and rest of the galaxy for letting the quarians die and there treatment of them.
Someone absolutely should have killed him for this.
Hackett would probably court martial and probably execute him for killing the quarians
@konahrik9554 "so you survived a gunshot to the head, zaeed?"
"Goddamn right. Just like how you survived falling of a cliff and your peoples extinction"
Yea samara would hunt shepard down for this
Shepard:"Decides to destroy the geth"
Legion: Shepard Commander, why !!!???
Shepard: The answer is simple. Not enough paragon points. And there is no way in hell that I would choose a bunch of geth over Tali.
I wish they didn’t make this a paragon option or they could’ve at least said instead of “upload the code” they could’ve said “let the quarians die” to make it more obvious
I will never understand Bioware's hatred of Tali. The only thing they showed of her in the entire trilogy the LE trailer... was her death scene. Just like the og ME3 trailer, all they showed was her death scene. Even in the ME2 trailer they play audio from her death scene. She's the easiest character to kill on the suicide mission, being one of the only squadmates who's loyalty mission you can fail, and even if you do succeed you can lose her loyalty when she argues with legion. She's one of the few squadmates who can die doing the one role she's good at on the SM even if she's loyal (also likely to die on the ship), for some reason it defaults to her first for every option, despite the fact that it's not alphabetical and she will die if you pick her for most of them. Oh, she's also the only one of the 3 main squadmates (garrus, liara, tali) from the OT that doesn't even get a mention in MEA. Then of course we have ME3. Still to this day I despise bioware for how they handled this entire story arc. First off, they weren't even going to make Tali a squadmate (despite how popular she was), and only relented at the last minute because of Patrick Weekes. The worst part though is the way they portrayed the quarian/geth conflict. It's one of the most biased, one-sided campaigns that bioware has ever done. They did EVERYTHING to make you sympathize with the geth and hate the quarians, from start to finish. They even made siding with the geth the top option, knowing full well that most players play paragon. They also originally had the 2 options labeled 'allow legion to upload the code' and 'let the geth die', as opposed to 'let the quarians die' in place of the former.
Still think I'm making this up and they didn't hate Tali and the quarians? Ok, then list one instance where the quarians are involved in the story in any way, and they DON'T get slaughtered. You literally can't. In every game, every book, the comics, etc. the quarians exist only to get slaughtered. Some writer has a fetish for watching them die because it's all they do in all 3 games (hell they even managed to squeeze some more in in to a tie in novel of MEA). It wouldn't surprise me if in ME4 they make it canon that all of the quarians died. In fact I would bet on them doing it.
You forget to mention that not once in the last two games does Shepard say "I love you" or "I love you too" if you romance her despite saying both for pretty much every other romance option.
Oh and Shepard just acting cold to her in general throughout the 3rd game was also really hard to watch. Just randomly saying default lines when Tali poured her heart out in certain scenes.
There's also the rewriting of the Krogans to be some woke feminist allegory.
If I had to take a shot in the dark, it was probably someone that worked on ME3 having a bone to pick with Drew Karpyshyn's writing who was the one that made and wrote Tali for the first two games along with the entire plot and worldbuilding for both. He left Bioware twice so the likelyhood that they had some sort of falling out is high. The likelyhood is even higher when you also consider the fact that when he left he said the studio was quote "too corporate", a year before Anthem's release which, would you know it, was a hyper corporate slop game. This coincides with him leaving in 2012, shortly before the release of Mass Effect 3. What likely happened is that he wrote Tali's script and someone else wrote Shepard's script along with the script for the Krogans. Which would make perfect sense as Tali retains her usual personality for the majority of the game but Shepard seems to be less assertive in the 3rd game.
They also seem to ignore any and all criticism as outlined in their response to Jason Shreier's article on Bioware's poor management so that would give probable cause to suspect Bioware of being arrogant towards Drew Karpyshyn.
@@SEXUAL-ABUSER Completely agree. Honestly, that wouldn't surprise me at all if that were exactly the case.
If anything they need to canonize peace it wouldn’t make sense for the geth to return without the quarians
It's even worse when you consider that the last armour Tali sees is Cerberus (Ajax Armour). And full-body gear, at that.
weird that a game so invested onto little details didnt checked on armours too, maybe it was too much to ask for
I love you, then the betrayal comes
Lol I know right.
I did it on my playthrough. Seemed the right decision, as I wanted the Geth. I never suspected Tali would take it so hard :P But I didn't go back on my decision.
🤴
Based
I got the legendary addition as this is my first play through of the series I chose the geth not my fault they couldn’t just stop firing it’s kinda dumb.
You didnt think Tali would take the loss of her people that hard? Lol
@@Quole1234 eh, itd debatable. Personally, I fid upgrading anything with Reaper codes to be too dangerous. Ionly make peace for the war assets. First time i played it though, I chose Tali and the Quarians.
Someone had to do it so we could all see it. Lol I want to thank you but I also hate you
😂😂😂😂
Everytime I get to this point I get so worried that I don't have enough paragon points. Because I start to think the game will bug and cause me to choose between Legion and Tali, if that ever happens though I would choose Tali over Legion because I would never betray her in the end.
If you do the side missions and save admiral Koris. Rallying the fleet is easier and if you had gained legion and Tali’s loyalties in ME2 you have an easier time brokering peace
This is so hard to watch....
Why did I watch this?
Yeah no. I would never chose this option. I destroy the Geth on Rannoch most of the times without hesitation and feeling guilty.
I've always ended the War peacefully. The Geth help the Quarrans resettle Rannoch.
I made the right choice.
You made the right choice
I’ll do just that in my renegade playthrough including selling Legion and destroy ending
NOOOOO my waifu :(
I hate to do this but it's been debated it's such a well acted scene and it's sad. However, I am going to play devil's advocate here. I save both because they're assets, but the Quarians in hindsight got what was coming to them. 1. They're the ones who created the Geth 2. When the Geth achieved intelligence beyond their design with the intent to learn more sentience the Quarians should have adopted them (in a sense) 3. The Geth fought back when they knew what self awareness and self-defense was 4. The Quarians kept perpetuating the conflict and constantly sought every opportunity to destroy the Geth and take back their homeworld instead of trying to understand their own creation that now has life. 5. I love Tali she's tied for my favorite romance, but even when the evidence is there in her face that the Geth were persecuted she still lacked the confidence, understanding, and diplomacy to find peace without judgment of the past. The Geth and Quarian war is a reminder of what happens when we reach for hate instead of reaching for words.
You are completely wrong. Also the millions of civilians did not deserve this. You are also conveniently leaving out the fact that the fwth sided with the reapers before, in ME1. And don't tell me the true geth were innocent for what the heretics did because you are blaming all the quarians for what the admirals did.
Betrayal is not in my nature.
Sad ending of the Quarian. Glad that I have never seen that scene, thanks to full-scale save file migration as a Paragon.
And making the best choices to make sure you can make peace between the Geth and the Quarians.
The Most Hateful Mechanic Of Mass Effect Trilogy Is The Paragon/Renegade System Do You Agree ?
it's the dumbest mechanic for sure
I think the dumbest is that the genocide of an organic species is considered paragon
I do wonder that if BioWare were to make a fourth game with Shepard somehow returning how would they do when it comes to recruiting Tali?
If you decided to side with the geth than the quarians would you just not go to Rannoch because there’s no one to recruit while if you sided with the quarians or both would you go there seeing that Tali has built herself a home?
The Turians were mostly a-holes, and they sure deserved this ending, but Tali was too great of a character. Because of that, I will never make this choice. The game also did a rather poor job making Shepard seem upset over Tali dying. There should have been tears. Hell, there were tears from me. I would never in a million years accept this ending.
I've never chosen between the Quarrans and Geth. I've always gotten the Quarrans tae stand down and end the War.
That includes my first playthrough.
That's a pretty fuck up ending for Tali man
disgusting that bioware did everything to make this happen.
That sucked 😭😭. Why did I watch this?😭😭😭
In my first, and so far only play through of the games a while back (like only a few months ago admittedly) I almost got this outcome. I had shepherd romance tali yada yada. But in the moment leading up to this choice I had somehow avoided pretty much all spoilers or didn’t remember any so my first choice despite my attachment to the quarrians and tali and told legion to upload the code. I just got really lucky that I had saved Korris among some of the other criteria so I was able to end things peacefully. But once I had finished the games and had started looking up videos on UA-cam the first time I saw a clip of Tali falling off the edge and the sorrow in her voice it fucking broke me. Still wrenches my heart every time I see it
achieving peace is one of the most difficult things, considering that you need certain decisions even in mass effect 2
This makes no sense. Why is she apologizing before killing herself and why is Shepard so concerned after making his decision about her race?
She’s apologizing to her people because she couldn’t save them
Wtf that literally kill an entire race
The Batarians were just a warmup loll, just wait until the end when you merc the entire galaxy by choosing for the cycle to continue
@@joeherp8971Shepard never killed the batarian race

Watching the Quarians die off is probably the most satisfying moments in the whole trilogy for me. I honestly couldn't stand them. Especially Tali.
Agreed
Wtf
The Quarians are actually alive, unlike the toasters.
@@kevinthunder3375 doesn't change the fact that the Quarians are absolutely awful. Personally I hated them in ME2 and the backstory in the third game made my decision to let them die off everytime after the first playthrough even easier.
I will be able to save both but I feel the same way..I'll pick the geth over the quarians anyday.
The fact that shepard doesn't seem to care shows that this isn't the canon outcome
Bioware hated tali
@@Quole1234 Yes Quole I know. I replied to your comment, remember?
@@SEXUAL-ABUSERI've had this conversation with a dozen people
There’s no canon outcome
I wonder if Tali still shows up in the flashbacks when Shepard makes his choice in the crucible
Lol
