One thing I never see UA-camrs taking into account is the fact that FTL comm signals can take decades to travel across the galaxy without the use of the mass relays and we're most likely hearing OLD signals from the Reaper War hitting the galactic fringes long after the fact. This is most likely misdirection from BioWare to keep all but the most hardcore fans guessing. Thank you for noticing and covering this fact.
If Shepard wasn't coming back before, he will be now just so he can record a "This is my favorite UA-cam channel on the Internet" voiceover. Amazing video 👏
Impressive - how you kept all this back for this big surprise during all those hours of streaming without looking like the kid who is about to burst meme😆 Excellent work!
No offense but I really don't think it would be a Shepard from a parallel universe. Because the Shepard we love and want to see again is the Shepard that went through the trilogy with us, the one that faced down the reaper in all 3 games with us, not a different one from another universe. And I think bioware knows that. It wouldn't be smart to revive a Shepard that we have no emotional connection with.
For folks my age Richard Feynman was the guy that gracefully displayed why the Challenger space shuttle exploded. It was quite a traumatic event as I watched it live on tv in my 2nd grade elementary school class. Hmmm. 🤔 Two famous space ships that met violent and shockingly untimely ends 🤔
Nice analysis! A "many worlds interpretation" plot might mean that not only every ending is canon, but that every decision made from every different Shepard is simultaneously canon and non canon, depending on the universe. What you experience is just one of the many possibilities. Maybe there's an universe where the Reapers were defeated early because the Council chose to believe Shepard instead of being obstructive bureaucrats at every turn. That would be kind of funny.
The many worlds interpretation though kind of feels wrong, it means that original Shepard is done and gone in universe where we played original trilogy. This Shepard Liara and folks then go pick it up again from the crash site is no more Shepard than the clone Shepard is in Citadel DLC, that ends up dead. Why not just recover this clone instead, his body is probably in much better shape? Both come from same pile of meat that was recovered, I mean the Citadel clone Shepard, and this speculative interdimensional corpse that would be new Shepard. They are identical twins to real Shepard, but neither of these other Shepards has done anything in Mass Effect 2 and 3. So yeah, we'd have blank slate Shepard, who has no friends, no achievements or relationships after saving the Citadel, no deeper understanding of Reapers, and no galactic hero reputation. Easy character to write on because ME2 and 3 can be ignored from character perspective, only leaving plot history in place. But why stop there either, now that there's this parallel universe, why not have whole game there instead, rewriting the plot completely as well...
@@jarivuorinen3878 Agreed. This is why multiverses are doomed to fail as a narrative conceit. Once everything is possible, nothing matters any more. It's kinda the whole point behind Rick and Morty, y'know
Voices 4 & 5 are the Kett. It sounds identical to them & even what they say sort of makes sence. "They do match" meaning(the species here match them that turned up in Andromeda) & "Upon an unknown horizon" possibly meaning(they are coming towards our galaxy) which would be an Unknown horizon.
It would also fit the themes surrounding the kett - imperialism and colonialism a la 17th-19th century British. In Andromeda, the angarans were deliberately meant to remind us of Caribbean and Austronesian peoples (the dialects, the climate of their worlds), and the _other_ major British colonization was North America, which had just suffered a major crisis and wasn't in a state to defend itself.
@@adeptdamage3669 No they weren't. Just the dialogue writing was bad. The character of the archon was bad. But the concept of the kett as a villain and species is GOOD. A parasitic species is GREAT, similar in some ways to the reapers. They only exist by converting other species into more kett. Fundamentally horrifying as a species. But can we attribute morality to them? Lot of fantastic philosophical questions at play.
@@miavaughn2393so we’re getting an enemy that converts us into them? We had it with the darkspawn We had it with the reapers We had it with the kett in andromeda
I'm speechless. This was amazingly well done, it must have required a ton of time and effort to organize and dig through all of this. And after everything that was covered in the video, the final playthrough of the trailer gave me chills as much as the first time I watched it. Hype!
If bioware enable us to transfer mass effect legendary edition savefile toward next game and continue after conclusion we done in me3. That gonna be great as hell
Yes, it should be a sequel, with all saved relationships, decisions, fights, dialogs, persons and feelings we invested in this super game. Bioware should honour this and finally come up with ME4
Just admit it Atharia - you're a part of the writing team and you are undercover using the channel to mess with us 😅 This analysis video makes too much freaking sense to be JUST a fan theory! Can't wait for the ME5 release day when you suddenly go "Psyche, I was one of the writers all along" 😄
We actually need more creative thinking/writing like hers. Where writers, producers, developers put actual effort in creating something, and not just slap classic straight forward, dull, fetch quest galore (khm....Andromeda mission design...khm) "rpg". If they want grinding game put some sense into it, sense of progress and actual payoff.
Are you counting Andromeda as No. 4? Don't, please! There is only ME1/2/3, nothing else. If another ME comes out, it will be ME4 (Scratch Andromeda with no Commander Shepard )
I agree the wrinkles don't mean that Liara has gotten a lot older. When you look at Benezia, Samara, and Aethyta, all of them are matriarchs and they don't have those wrinkles. Also, when doing the crash site mission, you can find your old helmet and you take it back to your cabin. Also, during Project Lazarus, they say that the helmet helped keep his brain intact or something like that. So when Liara found Shepard's body to give to Cerberus, did she leave the helmet? And if she did, you can find the same helmet on Alchera during the memorial mission. With all of that, I find it very hard to believe that that is Shepard's helmet. If it were, it would be on Earth or on the Citadel. The helmet is the most confusing part to me.
The helmet could be a plot hole, or what we can collect from the wreckage of the Normady could be another one, not what s/he wore when s/he died. I bet Shepard kept spare ones in her/his cabin.
Liara getting the body back is in a comic they wrote and in fact Liara grabs the body and brings it to cerberus but she isn't the one to go to the crash site to recover it. Some Shadow Broker operatives did it and Liara manages to "steal" the body before it can be delivered. So who knows what that operative did with the Helmet. If they put Shepard in a sort of cryo stasis to avoid the body decomposing they might have removed the helmet... they might alos have removed it just so the face shows so that there is no doubt on the identity of the body ?
@@JezaGaia Honestly that last one seems most likely. They definitely were riding on a massive pay day there. How dumb would you have to be to not positively ID the body with millions of credits on the line?
Yep. In ME2, Shepard's helmet was pretty beaten, but it was almost fully intact. You'd notice if a piece from the side the helmet was missing. That's a big a$$ detail to leave out or for someone not to notice!
@jsemnikdo2229 They can do that in a blink with DNA scans that can identify "gene mods", let alone ID'ng the guy. I don't think that's going to be an issue.
Not only was this one of your best videos, but it's easily one of the best ME videos I've seen by any creator on UA-cam. And, I've watched a lot! Well done! If anyone correctly guesses the eventual plot of the next Mass Effect, I'm all but certain it will be you. 😉Maybe I need to stop watching your videos and livestreams to avoid spoilers. 😁
@@paragonseven Yes!! I know exactly what you mean. My wife has accused me on multiple occasions of skipping a head and watching movies or future episodes of shows we binge watch together without her. If I think I've figured something out, I no longer share it with her. Has saved my marriage.😅When you have an analytical mind it's hard to turn it off sometimes.
Liara could be on Alchera looking for something else (like an important part from the crashed Normandy) and just happened upon the helmet piece. Just because she picks it up doesn't mean she's there looking for Shepard, so no multiverse is required.
Are you an incarnation of Sherlock? You did an insanely lot of investigation and it's a well put together video with a professional outlook. Awesome work! The N7 Morse code is a cool detail. Those audio snippets are really hard to understand. I have to listen to them a few more times. That's our local cluster? Damn. Mass Effect: Homecoming Some crazy-unhinged-not-to-take-seriously ideas that just popped up in my head during the video: What if in the parallel universe the Jardaan are the Reapers and trying to achieve synthesis by creating the Angara. What if in the parallel universe Liara took Alec's offer (and that's him in the background) and went to Andromeda so never met with Shepard. Also there would be two Liara on the Mudskipper. 😂 The parallel universe's Shepard can feel like cloneShep. In the case of Perfect Destroy there would be two Shepard. But why would they look for the other if they have the original? 🤨 The main storyline have to be the same for everyone. Will they find the otherShep accidentally while investigating the aftermath of the Crucible beam?
Appreciate it, thank you! I did some serious thinking on whether aspects of parallel worlds will be a huge part of the next game's plot, and from what we've seen so far, I don't think it will be. There's enough plot threads from Andromeda to continue the story, IMO. So as of right now, I think the parallel worlds (if it's even a thing) will only be used to get Shepard back for the Synthesis and normal Destroy playthroughs. What we see in the trailer might not apply to all players (like if Perfect Destroy Shep is alive, then Liara wouldn't need to hop to a parallel world to grab a different Shep).
@@paragonseven Yeah, but hopping into a parallel universe (if it's a thing) is quite a big event that can change the world state drastically. Like finding the Prothean ruins on Mars. So IMO it has to happen in every possible playthrough (regardless of Shepard) even if the main plot won't be around it. Also I'm happy to see more Andromeda.
@@dorottyapapp Definitely agree on all playthroughs having parallel worlds, but I'm not sure it's necessary if the writing team makes Perfect Destroy, and Shepard living, valid. Unless the parallel worlds plotline is bigger than we think...
@@paragonseven I aggre that it's not necessarily at all. And everything depends on what BW decided to happen. (Who knows if this will be the main topic of MENext??????) I personally don't want parallel universes or time travel in ME for the sake of narrative problem solving or just to bring Shepard back. (I believe they are creative enough to write themselves out of this mess.) But if they chose this route it should occure "naturally" (that grows out of the game's worldbuilding), based on the Crucible beam's aftereffect, the scourge, black holes, etc. Which means it can happen even if they let Shepard rest in peace or if Perfect Destroy is canon and Shepard is well and alive.
I think the biggest stretch in the video is the Feynman theory. The description says "24 moons", the trailer only shows 2 instead of, say, 9 or more. While it's more important to humanity than most others, the evidency is shaky at best. And regarding the quantum mechanics, what stops Liara from collecting tens, hundreds, thousands of Shepards, if she has an easy access to timeline traversal? What does she need this parallel Alchera Shepard for (or any dead Shepard for that matter if there're worlds with alive ones)? And again, this theory completely disregards the original "omg Shep is alive" moment, so why not show that one instead?
WOW! That's a hell of an analysis. If you are right, and next game will include Shepard, Liara and Geth... i'm hyped beyond recognition. Gotta watch out not to get overhyped. I still remember the pain after Andromeda release.
And if that is the case then it adds to this parallel world/multiverse theory because some might consider taking a different shepard from their world and plonking them in "our" world as taking things too far, simply travelling to a parallel could also be considered taking it too far given how dangerous it could be.
Really interesting and well thought out video, as usual. Can see all the work you put into this. You always manage to cheer me up thinking that Shepard will be back. I'm playing again now and seeing lots of little things that are making me think....... Looking forward to your next video 😊
Okay I'm going to sandwich this because I did actually really like this video. Your investigative skills are incredible and you've changed the way I think about the next Mass Effect. PLEASE stop saying 100% that annoys the hell out of me, it a theory the whole point is that its speculation I want to cry. Also I really like how you present this stuff, visually and audibly i can tell exactly what you're thinking and your thoughts translate very well. I like all of your videos keep making them you are the best of the Mass Effect community has to offer.
I'm skeptical about the planet being Alchera just because of the Sky used for the planet, The Planet of Alchera is located in the Omega Nebula which is in the Terminus Systems on the other side of the Milky Way so there is no way you'd be able to see anything relating to the SOL system from Alchera with the naked eye.
Regardless if it's the Local cluster or not, the same cluster shown on Alchera is in the trailer, so either way, Alchera is still confirmed. Which is the crazy part anyway. :)
Richard Feynman (Fine men) was an American physicist who mainly delta with the interactions of photons with matter and how charged particles interacted with eachother. He's also a Nobel prize winner. He also predicted a bunch of technology like quantum computers.
Your mind really works on many levels. I live listening to your voice explaining all the Easter eggs. I thought I was a mass effect fanboy but I lay my crown at your feet.
A comprehensive and intriguing breakdown that actually makes sense! I cant imagine how long it must have taken you to find all of these hints and so far this is the only video with no inconsistencies. Fantastic work, you’ve earned a sub!
You have a really unique breakdown style that really stands out from all the rest, the editing is stellar on top of that, great presentation visually and in the way you kept info tidy and easier to track to make it inclusive to people of all education levels of the franchise as you can for stuff like this. I can really feel the work you and/or your team put into this. Fantastic work. :) Sub earned for sure. Look forward to more schtuff.
this video is by far one of the most impressive and convincing yet, especially how you tied everything together at the end with the voices etc.... keep up the great work keeping us invested
had a thought that "It beats the heart" could be a link to the lazarus project which initially revives shepherd as well, the "its a match" could also be meaning the blood-type and genetic make up of the newly recovered shepherd which may also be needed to revive him this time as when selecting your class in the ME games you see different genetic makeup structures, blue for soldier as an example.
I would've thought the figures in the background of Liara would've been a Salarian and human, yes, but that third a Turian. Body seems slimmer than a Krogan.
this is seriously some quality content - love how methodically you broke down the trailer, while still having the humility to acknowledge parts which still elude you.
36:00 I think the upon... line is actually: "If it is not him then who is he?" and right before 35:59 you hear "shepard" - more noticeable if you play at .5x
This is some great sleuthing! Feynman is known for path integration in quantum mechanics, sometimes called many paths interpretation. Basically, the path of a particle to its final destination is related to all possible paths to get there. It's a somewhat complicated topic, but the PBS Space Time UA-cam channel has a nice overview: "Feynman's Infinite Quantum Paths"
13:14 That's the Omega-4 Relay. It's the same relay we jumped into at the end of Mass Effect 2. The system to jump there was in the Hawking Eta system. That's Reaper space, or the space the Reapers go to when they aren't on an extermination mission between civilizations.
Good video Im in the middle of my second trillogy replay and i finished 2s main story yeasterday and something i noticed during the replay was that even back in Me1 they where setting the seeds for Protheans surviving to the present. So there could defnetley be something to the theory that the Jardaan are Prothean I can totaly see some Protheans getting together and forming their own version of the Andromeda Initiative.
I really don't like an idea of multiverse solution, honestly. Recovering a Shepard pre-ME2 just for the sake of recovering him doesn't sits well with me.
It's one thing to bring him back and it's another to try and make it so, that it wouldn't piss off those fans, that didn't choose destroy ending as their canonical choice...
Honestly Bioware has it's hands full when it comes to figuring it out...they made this kind of mess themselves to start with and now they have to find the way out of it and the thing is x there may not even be a way out...lol
@Cinquan Shepard must not return under any circumstance! Him/her making the ultimate sacrifice is the only fitting end for the epicness of the background story. The Reapers existed for over a billion years, invaded over 20,000 times, destroyed tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of species, killed at least quadrillions of individuals....and then Shepard comes along, defeats them and rides off into the sunset like after having a tavern brawl? Ridiculous. Your playthroughs only meant something if Shepard dies in the end of ME3. If Shepard survives the entire scale of what was at scope here is diminished into worthlessness.
@@Cinquan As if that would make any difference. The Bioware of old doesn't exist anymore anyway - there's basically no one left of the old team. If Dragon Age: Dreadwolf turns out to be good then I'll be cautiously optimistic that the next ME game can be good as well. If Dreadwolf is not good....well then there's little hope for ME either.
WoooooW I never clapped to an ending of a UA-cam video like this! Outstanding work on the research you did BRAVO! Here's to an excellent new story. Btw my first introduction to your channel!
I am mind blown by your video. A lot of things make so much sense, and I remember Michael Gamble replying to someone who was questioning how they would handle a story set in the Milky way with ME 3 three endings, by saying that they found a way to solve it, and the paralel universe theory seems the most likely.
I can't stress enough just how jawdropping and legshaking this video is. Been watching other people do breakdowns of the trailer, but their explanations didn't sit right with me. UNTIL I saw your video. Personally, I really hope Shepard is returning, because the character that we've been building throughout 3 games didn't really get a proper ending, meaning, there must be more adventures to go on! And also I often recall a scene in the end of ME3, where stargazing child says "Tell me another story about the Shepard" and Stargazer grandpa answers "It's getting late, but ok, one more story". Also, the planet they are on kinda resembles Alchera? Big moon with smaller moon seen on the sky, wintery atmosphere or smth... Or maybe I'm overthinking :) Anyway, looking forward to more content
15:20 I hear "a hidden probe in there" like someone is picking up a signal from something strange or somewhere strange. 16:06 im hearing "hands off the beacon" like someone is messing with something they dont understand. 16:13 I hear "your doomed now, Jacob" like a character just did something that will get them killed or their talking to themselves.
15:20 I hear “a hidden probe relay”. If not I’m 99% sure it says relay. Could be the use of relays during multiverse/blackhole travel. Possibly explaining how a black hole doesn’t destroy the ship, as you never see a relay’s effect on the structure of the ship. With the relays being crafted from an “all knowing” species (reapers), it could mean that the relay can make the ship not just travel FTL but reduce/nullify the stretching and warping of a black hole.
I don't know how I stumbled into this channel but WOW. What an amazing video. Just trying to comprehend the logic process, investigative skills, research, fact finding, deductive reasoning, and then the immense time and energy spent on this.... sub'd and liked .... jfc parts of my brain are still numb...
The more speculation videos I see on the new ME trailers, the more my confusion grows, and with it the hype. The enthusiasm of the community is awesome, and all the different speculations show the creativity and love of the creators of the vids.
The Geth stuff can also be used to tie Andromeda to the story. Because in the beginning of ME:A they state that they were able to scan the Andromeda galaxy using some new prototype array the Geth made which allowed them to see the the 3 million light year distance in real time and chart out the habitat worlds in advance before they left the Milky Way.
@@paragonseven No but seriously, your passion is admirable. It seems you're enjoying the process and we're here to enjoy the results, what a deal! And hopefully, the devs got you on their radar too. Oftentimes devs themselves have less lore knowledge than the fans. I've been following Mass Effect content since ME3 came out (12 years already 😮) and your channel has quickly become my favourite since I discovered it through Kala and Mr. Hulthen. Intriguing theories with great attention to details, and some good humor. The Local Cluster part blew my mind! I never noticed. I hope that ME5 gets released finally and you can grow your channel well. But even if not, you have a great potential regardless.
Wow. What a breakdown! Thank you for all the hard work you obviously put into making this analysis video. Was hyped for ME5 before; didn’t think it was possible to get any more hyped for it until watching this analysis. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next one.
Cool analysis. There's a detail that wasn't mentioned... at the end of Mass Effect 3, in the destroy version of the story, which is obviously the cannon ending judging by the two dead Reapers in the trailer, Shepard is still alive. We see Shepard breath on the very last scene. Why would Bioware do that if Shepard has nothing to do with the story of Mass Effect anymore?
From what I hear, the lines around 15:13 are 1: Emmiting probe in a- (cut off) 2: anomaly readings all across ___ space (I believe the blank is geth due to being around the same length of the outage) 3: it's like a heart 4: they do match 5: we couldn't've known out at Horizon (imagine its maleshep saying it but distorted, it sounds a lot more similar) From these, we can assume this could be they find something going on in geth space after the geth being upgraded but considering they call it an anomaly cus Shepard chose destroy, Third is basically describing what upgrades happened to the geth, and fourth confirming the similarities the readings, Lastly is the hardest to hear to me but it absolutely sounds like Horizon to me, and considering Me2 and 3 both had important events happen at horizon that had Shepard involvement, so I assume that the geth went to Horizon after the war so they could research or survey what happened and their significance
A Kala and now a paragon video back to back it’s going to be a good day. I like to think Mike Gamble is sitting in his office watching all these videos and being yeah they’re close 🤣🤣 Update so this probably nothing but I have the same thumbnail you used as my desktop backdrop just without the words so if you look kind of below Lara’s chin, you can see that they’re on a plateau that’s pretty high up because there is cloud cover, but it could be fog too, but it looks like they’re pretty high up in the mountains or on a plateau just a curious observation
Might be a stretch, but after all the talk about Shepherd returning, at 26:25 right between the Will Comtimue, it kind of looks like shepherd standing there, with their arms behinds their back like in ME1
Has there ever been a trailer with as many cryptic hints as this one? This seems to me like giving too much credit for just a simple trailer. Regardless, your explanations are convincing and well researched. Great work!
31:17 "To answer that, we need to talk about parallel universes" Honestly that segway there where you explain that Shepard's body still in... - well - charcoal from a parallel world caught me off guard! It's really good!
Had a crazy thought about the remaster that came out. They will likely have systems in place to read your data and will be able to choose which save to bring into the new game.
Mass Effect holds a special place in my heart. As a gamer, it's one of the first game series that I truly found myself loving more and more. While I still enjoyed Andromeda, the original 3 games is where my love lies the most. Upon seeing that there is a very strong chance... Our Shepard is returning... my excitement for this has gone through the roof and I cannot wait to see more information and clues to come. Thank you for sharing and exploring!
Don't care what anyone says, I miss Shepard and will accept any possible reason for her return if the overall plot of the game is good Thank you for the video!
I just hope they don't bring him/her back as playable character once again...i'd rather see him/her return as some kind of major support role NPC like Anderson or Hacket, who presence would be felt throughout the entire game, instead of having brief role...but yet not being playable character...
Kill all AI in mass 3 and you see his helmet and chest moving like a deep breath so he’s probably already alive, as for the twins as weak as the game was I’d like to see them finish the story with maybe God AI shep reaching out to them.😂😂😂😂😂
The very beginning of the trailer where there is inaudible dialogue, I may be just guessing but it sounds like it says Ark 3? is go for launch, and then Ark 2 is go for launch? And then it sounds like a sound clip from the Apollo 11 launch, "Yes indeed they got the flag up now you can see it from orbit" and then it says, "Beautiful, just beautiful" which was said by Michael Collins that was the command module pilot for the moon landing.
It was always strange to me when the obvious canon true ending of ME3 (Destroy) literally ended with Shepherd breathing but people speculate over if they'll come back. Even the ME3 trailer literally SHOWS Liara pick his armor piece up and wipe it off and smile. Like, It's been in your face since ME3 came out and they reinforced it now with the ME4 trailer. I don't understand why people can't just accept it and have to fight it every step of the way.
Just because he breathed doesn't mean he lived, he could have died shortly afterwards due to his severe injuries though I agree it's most likely he survived
@@stuart4341 literally impossible for Shepard to still be dead IF he died, which, even if he did they literally brought back a charred, decomposed, frozen corpse back in 2. They could ABSOLUTELY do it again. And at the very least that shows the far reaches of their medical advances, meaning even if Shepard was seeeeeriously messed up, they easily could’ve kept him alive if they got to him in time
Incredible work. Incredible editing. Love it all! But gods I hope that last part about a parallel Shepard is wrong and that the writers dont go there. Way of you to take somebody on such an emotional rollercoaster, haha. 10/10 for presentation and execution.
I was trying to find the legal definition of it but there is a term for when so much circumstantial evidence starts to prove or disprove a theory simply on the amount of it pointing in a direction or painting a picture. Just like in this case. You now have me convinced that they will try to find a Sheppard alive or dead in another universe and bring him back here. I’m not sure how, why, or the logistics of it but your theory disproves a lot of my explanations otherwise outside of a lazy writing explanation which doesn’t match the types of people working on mass effect. I’m concerned the 4th voice in the break down might be the new antagonist. I’m almost certain that who ever we face in the next game will likely be a form or variation of synthetic. I was talking with javic in me3 and he said that in his time the synthetic race hacked the people of a planet through implants they had surgically placed within them to increase their ability to handle the climate conditions and fix their planet. Synthetic race was even able to alter their genetics and mines essentially giving the synthetic race brand new genetic bodies that they could change on a DNA level. What if this new enemy has a version of that capability as we saw with the angara in andromeda?
Ahhh good catch on the Javik convo, I'll go check that one out! Blurring the line between synthetics and organics seems like an inevitable plot thread after MEA and SAM, so I'm curious if it'll make an appearance in MENext.
I'm SO beyond happy to see this. The entire reason I launched my channel was to make this detailed trailer breakdown, so thank you for playing Mass Effect and watching this video. :)
Hear me out @Paragon7. My biggest problems with this explanation are for one that Alchera is halfway across the galaxy from Earth so there is NO WAY you gonna see the Local Cluster in the sky like that, but frankly it is detail so maybe just don't refer to this nebula/cluster as LC? But mostly I'm hoping that this explanation is wrong because both backwards time travel and parallel worlds is gonna completely destroy the original Mass Effect lore which was already stretched enough by the Andromeda and do we really want to pay this price for the Shepard's return? I have another idea, what if this teaser is not to be taken literally, what if it's symbolic, acknowledging the many different endings of ME3 and maybe saying they are gonna make it up for the sacrifice of those who chose the non-surviveable endings of ME3? Because the parallel universe Shepard is just as problematic as Shepard clone. It is NOT the Shepard we know in ME2 and 3 and that is a big problem, for all we know (ahem ahem Invincible) parallel Shepard might even be outright evil.
I wonder if game developers ever wander onto channels like this and think “Man, that’s good. I wish we had actually thought of that.”
Actually, yes. Multiple devs have said so publicly, including Bioware!

The Kett were awful brining them back is a terrible idea.
@@miavaughn2393 They're not. They're just a boring re hash the aftermath of The Reaper has far more narrative potential.

We had it with the kett in andromeda
I'm speechless. This was amazingly well done, it must have required a ton of time and effort to organize and dig through all of this. And after everything that was covered in the video, the final playthrough of the trailer gave me chills as much as the first time I watched it. Hype!
If bioware enable us to transfer mass effect legendary edition savefile toward next game and continue after conclusion we done in me3. That gonna be great as hell
Yes, it should be a sequel, with all saved relationships, decisions, fights, dialogs, persons and feelings we invested in this super game. Bioware should honour this and finally come up with ME4
To be fair, going through a Reaper War would age anyone a few centuries.
You know it’s going to be good when there’s a research paper about black holes mentioned in a Mass Effect video
I know exactly what I'll do for April's Fool's day next year... 👀
@@paragonseven Please don't. I couldn't take that.
@jsemnikdo2229
They can do that in a blink with DNA scans that can identify "gene mods", let alone ID'ng the guy.
I don't think that's going to be an issue.
Great video as usual!
There’s not much I wouldn’t do for more Liara and Shepard, so fingers crossed.
I remember a post on Bioware where they were asking where were we traveling to. Then it said something like if they only knew where we were going.
Tysm! Hahaha not even joking, sometimes I have to actively not theorize about shows or movies so I don't guess it in advance 😁
Damn. Mass Effect: Homecoming
Some crazy-unhinged-not-to-take-seriously ideas that just popped up in my head during the video:
What if in the parallel universe the Jardaan are the Reapers and trying to achieve synthesis by creating the Angara.
What if in the parallel universe Liara took Alec's offer (and that's him in the background) and went to Andromeda so never met with Shepard. Also there would be two Liara on the Mudskipper. 😂
The parallel universe's Shepard can feel like cloneShep.
(Who knows if this will be the main topic of MENext??????)
I personally don't want parallel universes or time travel in ME for the sake of narrative problem solving or just to bring Shepard back.
I think voice 3 is a concerned man saying “We’ve gone too far!” Great breakdown, lots of cool details to think about!
Oooh great guess, could totally be it!
And if that is the case then it adds to this parallel world/multiverse theory because some might consider taking a different shepard from their world and plonking them in "our" world as taking things too far, simply travelling to a parallel could also be considered taking it too far given how dangerous it could be.
You are absolutely magnificent. An incredible analysis. Thank you for the time it has taken you to theorise and share it with us.
This is insane amounts of detective work
Really interesting and well thought out video, as usual.
This video blew my mind, I'm in tears. Every Mass Effect fan should watch this video.
had a thought that "It beats the heart" could be a link to the lazarus project which initially revives shepherd as well, the "its a match" could also be meaning the blood-type and genetic make up of the newly recovered shepherd which may also be needed to revive him this time as when selecting your class in the ME games you see different genetic makeup structures, blue for soldier as an example.
You single handedly turned watching a trailer into science! Amazing job!
I would've thought the figures in the background of Liara would've been a Salarian and human, yes, but that third a Turian. Body seems slimmer than a Krogan.
Absolutely. I'm 100% on the same page.
this is seriously some quality content - love how methodically you broke down the trailer, while still having the humility to acknowledge parts which still elude you.
So, what I heard was “Anomaly Readings across Geth space” with the “Geth” audio being much lower
36:00
I think the upon... line is actually: "If it is not him then who is he?"
and right before 35:59 you hear "shepard" - more noticeable if you play at .5x
Or it could be the relay from the Arrival dlc that Shepard destroyed in the Arrival DLC
Good video
Im in the middle of my second trillogy replay and i finished 2s main story yeasterday
and something i noticed during the replay was that even back in Me1 they where setting the seeds for Protheans surviving to the present.
So there could defnetley be something to the theory that the Jardaan are Prothean
I can totaly see some Protheans getting together and forming their own version of the Andromeda Initiative.
at 13:45 that inactive mass relay could not reference the relay destroyed by shepard in ME2 to stop the reapers from comming
I really don't like an idea of multiverse solution, honestly. Recovering a Shepard pre-ME2 just for the sake of recovering him doesn't sits well with me.
This was a tremendous effort by you, and demonstrates your passion for Mass Effect. Thank You!
I really do want Shepard to return. If he/she does, then all of my play throughs would have meant something. 😊 And that makes me happy.
@@HH-hd7nd That’s your opinion, take your opinion to BioWare and talk to them.
I just hope Tali returns and I get to be shepard and build her that house on Rannoch
I am mind blown by your video. A lot of things make so much sense, and I remember Michael Gamble replying to someone who was questioning how they would handle a story set in the Milky way with ME 3 three endings, by saying that they found a way to solve it, and the paralel universe theory seems the most likely.
Yes !!I've been waiting for this video, you hyped me on it in a stream so glad it's finally here :D
My mind is blown. Thank you for the amazing thought and care you put into this video!
I love ur videos so much but I be falling asleep quick, your voice is so relaxing haha, plz keep up the great content!
Also @paragonseven
I don't know how I stumbled into this channel but WOW. What an amazing video. Just trying to comprehend the logic process, investigative skills, research, fact finding, deductive reasoning, and then the immense time and energy spent on this.... sub'd and liked .... jfc parts of my brain are still numb...
The more speculation videos I see on the new ME trailers, the more my confusion grows, and with it the hype. The enthusiasm of the community is awesome, and all the different speculations show the creativity and love of the creators of the vids.
I thought the planet was earth in the trailer. And Liara stumbled across Shepard’s n7 armor lol.
I love how you have the patience to show us every step along the way and never in a condenscending manner. Much appreciated and enjoyed!

Shepard is coming back🙌🏻
amazing! I love how ME videos are intrinsically loaded with science bits and learnable things
Great work. I'm sold!!!
From what I hear, the lines around 15:13 are
1: Emmiting probe in a- (cut off)
2: anomaly readings all across ___ space (I believe the blank is geth due to being around the same length of the outage)
3: it's like a heart
4: they do match
5: we couldn't've known out at Horizon (imagine its maleshep saying it but distorted, it sounds a lot more similar)
From these, we can assume this could be they find something going on in geth space after the geth being upgraded but considering they call it an anomaly cus Shepard chose destroy,
Third is basically describing what upgrades happened to the geth, and fourth confirming the similarities the readings,
Lastly is the hardest to hear to me but it absolutely sounds like Horizon to me, and considering Me2 and 3 both had important events happen at horizon that had Shepard involvement, so I assume that the geth went to Horizon after the war so they could research or survey what happened and their significance
A Kala and now a paragon video back to back it’s going to be a good day. I like to think Mike Gamble is sitting in his office watching all these videos and being yeah they’re close 🤣🤣
Update so this probably nothing but I have the same thumbnail you used as my desktop backdrop just without the words so if you look kind of below Lara’s chin, you can see that they’re on a plateau that’s pretty high up because there is cloud cover, but it could be fog too, but it looks like they’re pretty high up in the mountains or on a plateau just a curious observation
Not gonna lie, when you made the connection about the local cluster, My mind just....BOOM! Excellent video! - Ash (Zoderus)
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite trailer breakdown on UA-cam.
I love how the fact that the andromeda and Milky Way are so incredibly close together and nobody seems to have noticed
Hell yeah! Cant wait for Shepards return 😊
Might be a stretch, but after all the talk about Shepherd returning, at 26:25 right between the Will Comtimue, it kind of looks like shepherd standing there, with their arms behinds their back like in ME1
Sounds way too good! Here's for hoping this isn't another fans constructed a better way, again!
But how do you explain shepards chest moving while breathing at the end of mass effect 3's secret ending?
Has there ever been a trailer with as many cryptic hints as this one? This seems to me like giving too much credit for just a simple trailer.
Regardless, your explanations are convincing and well researched. Great work!
BW really love to hide tiny "insignificant" details that come up later.
I love that analogy! She is one smart cookie and I will be coming again!
Thank you for your take on the new Mass Effect! Kudos!
4:20 looks more like a stellar accretion disk.

Or a Halo lol
31:17 "To answer that, we need to talk about parallel universes"
Honestly that segway there where you explain that Shepard's body still in... - well - charcoal from a parallel world caught me off guard! It's really good!
While we all have our own theories I do really appreciate your video!
Had a crazy thought about the remaster that came out. They will likely have systems in place to read your data and will be able to choose which save to bring into the new game.
I SO don’t want andromeda characters to be back 😵💫 but I’m afraid it’s them next to Mudskipper…
Don't care what anyone says, I miss Shepard and will accept any possible reason for her return if the overall plot of the game is good
Thank you for the video!
I just hope they don't bring him/her back as playable character once again...i'd rather see him/her return as some kind of major support role NPC like Anderson or Hacket, who presence would be felt throughout the entire game, instead of having brief role...but yet not being playable character...
Kill all AI in mass 3 and you see his helmet and chest moving like a deep breath so he’s probably already alive, as for the twins as weak as the game was I’d like to see them finish the story with maybe God AI shep reaching out to them.😂😂😂😂😂
@@fox0yeah410 So we would play as Ryder but not, because reaperShep is ASSUMING CONTROL! 😂 A good one! The trilogy's essence in Andromeda's gameplay.
@Summon256 Oh so kind of like Dragon Age 3.
Me too🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The very beginning of the trailer where there is inaudible dialogue, I may be just guessing but it sounds like it says Ark 3? is go for launch, and then Ark 2 is go for launch?
And at the very least that shows the far reaches of their medical advances, meaning even if Shepard was seeeeeriously messed up, they easily could’ve kept him alive if they got to him in time
Fantastic information. Best yet. Glad you're back!
Let's hope dragon age doesn't fail so hard that we lose mass effect
I just jumped in MA fandom and when I watched this video I literally got goosebumps haha. That’s amazing. Thank you!
Or that mudskipper crew is also from that parallel world which never left the Milky Way.

💯
Good work, you slowly make me accept the alternative universe is going to be used in the next Mass Effect.
