Also Astilbe, Ferns and Bleeding Hearts are also great companions for Hostas. All are easy to divide. I have bought so many varieties of Coral Bells and certain varieties I’ve struggled with and most likely my very rocky, very tree rooty soil. I have lots of very old trees. The one Coral Bell I would love to try again is called Cutie Pie; it is bright lime green with fuschia pink colored calyxes. It lasted 3 years and I kept telling myself I need to transplant and divide it. Well I waited to long and miss Cutie Pie is gone.😭
I definitely need to add some hosts to my garden :) do you have any favorite cultivars on the larger side that can handle 4hrs sun for zone 8a NC? Would like to place a few h def a young redbud that needs some root shading
Netting is the best but unsightly. I've heard people swear by milorganite and you would get the added benefit of fertilization. However, that would be anecdotal information. To my knowledge there isn't a peer review paper out on milorganite and deer resistance. I think a lot of it would come down to how hungry the deer are. If they are hungry enough they would come into the yard at full daylight with a dog barking at them.
Great advice 😊🌱 love Hosta

I love astilbe. It tends to look great in the spring for me and then the long, hot summer makes it look rough.
Great video
Great info..
Thanks for the kind words Susan.
Can Solomon's Seal grow in red clay?
I grew up in Rome, Georgia which might be the red clay capital of the world. People have it in their yards there and it does well.
Also Baytown Tex.
