Lovely garden!
For mini hostas Baby Bunting , Cat and Mouse are very pretty and do quite well in my morning sun afternoon shade area .
I thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you so much for sharing. What a beautiful hosta collection you have. 💕
She has a real wide selection of Hosta . I too started a little mouse plant last year but it didn’t make it through the winter so I will be searching for a new one! Really nice garden!
So beautiful ! Nice variety ! Thanks for the video !
I think the one you didn't know is Frances William Hosta. You have some lovely hosta there and a beautiful garden.
I do have that one! You're most likely correct, thanks!
Absolutely stunning 🌸💕🌸
Love it❤❤
Watching from the Philippines I'm only familiar with 1 variety growing here your hosta collection is awesome
Enjoyed your tour 🪴🌱
Beautiful
Hello I know that this is an older video but I was wondering how much sun your June hosta gets? I love the June hosts but mine doesn’t seem to have the distinct blue and green colour like yours . I’m not sure if this comes with age or with the amount of sun it receives. Great garden tour!
0:43 will you please tell me the name of the speckled plant on the left side of the screen? It's very pretty.
Hi! Thanks for making this video! How tall is your June hosta? I’m looking for a good smaller/short hosts to line the front edge of my beds. Thanks!
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching 😊
I keep my hostas in large containers. They love it! Zone7b
How do you keep your hostas and hucheras so pretty. Mine have so many holes and slug & snail damage🥺
😍
How many inches you cut before winter ? Thank you.
I never knew there were mini hostas!
Yes!! So fun!
Will they all grow to the size of the elegans? Or is it the elegans in particular that has large leaves?
When you plant your coral bells, have you grouped multiple plants of the same type or is it one mature plant?
I always group 3-5 so I have a drift of that color 😊
Your garden is fantastic. I'm wanting to expand mine and have a question for you. Will hostas live under or in front of evergreen trees? I didn't want to a chance. Thank you.
Great question! So the simple answer is yes! You can totally plant under pines... the complicated answer is that you may have to tend to them more than you would normally. They will need more water and fertilizer because of the competing roots but it is possible and as long as you give them ample added moisture and nutrients, you will be successful. :-)
Thank you for your advice. I'll try planting one and see how it does. I'll let you know later. Thanks again.
I have 2 kinds of Hosta ,but not sure the name of them . When I got them the tags only said Hosta .
I love this but don’t know where to start. Do you plant them as bulbs or buy them? How long do they take to reach maturity size? Thanks!
Depending on budget, you can buy anywhere from liner size to 2 gallon sized. It takes a good 3-5 years for Hostas (especially the medium to large varieties) to mature. The giant Hostas can take longer. It happens faster for some varieties than others.
You shade garden is beautiful. Where do you buy that many different hosta?
I buy from local nurseries as well as hosta groups on Facebook that have reputable sellers. New Hampshire Hostas is also an awesome place to order from online. They have amazing stock and big plants.
I see that you have planted peonies among with the hostas, do peonies grow in the shade? please let me know I love peonies as well.
because of you am creating my first hosta garden.thank you
Hi! They don’t do as well in part shade as they would in full sun… but, they do grow and bloom and so I leave them in there as a nice filler… I would say they need at least 3-4 hours of direct sun to be happy, over 6 to thrive well with the flowers you’d expect. 🙂
How do you keep the slaters and slugs from eating them, mine were being eaten as they were trying to grow.
I don’t have any major issues with slugs. We have a pretty dry area…. But even if a super wet year… we see them but we also have lots of birds, snakes and toads… it helps!
Can those be grown in central Texas?
Generally hostas need a cold dormant period and are hardy in zones 3-8 (some varieties zone 9). Not sure what zone in Texas you’re in but I hope you can!
3:42 is this European ginger?
Do you use weed barrier?
I use only composted mulch. 😊
How do you keep the deer away from them?
I use Liquid Fence Deer spray a lot and I have a big crazy dog that loves to chase any wildlife that comes into the yard…. Neither are a foolproof solution but they allow me to enjoy the gardens with minimal deer grazing. 🙂
Where do you get your Hostas??
New Hampshire Hostas is a reliable source online that I use but I purchased all the existing ones from Facebook groups and local nurseries here in NY. 😀
What State is your garden in?
NY- Upstate
Beautiful hostas, wonderful gardens❤️😊❤️
Шикарные хосты!
This is just stunning! I love your choices!
Thank you! I appreciate your comment!
Excellent video, thanks for the name tags. Your hosta garden is beautiful.
Thank you! I appreciate your comment, thanks for watching
Awesome garden!
Thank you
Wow what a beautiful garden, every plant looked so perfect next to each other 💖💖
Thank you :-)
I’m Montagnard indigenous I love you plants , they are so beautiful .
Nice garden. The one you called "sting" looks a lot like "Cliffords Stingray".
I’ll have to check that one out! I can’t wait until it’s a mature clump!
I forgot to ask you do you have the hostas marked with their names or do you just know all the names. Your collection of hostas is amazing❤️
I don’t have them marked and there are many that I don’t know off the top of my head. I certainly have my favorites though and try to purchase ones that stand out so I can remember them :-)
Beautiful hosta collection! Do you have trouble with critters in your area? I lost 13 hostas (all I had) to a gopher two years ago and I’ve been unwilling to plant them again. They must be tasty. 🙄😄 But, I love hostas. I once had a wonderful variety when we lived in the Northeast part of the country, apparently no gophers up there.
We sure do... deer mainly and I use the liquid deer fence for now but that is not foolproof either. It’s funny, I always add more hostas every year and think to myself “ there you go, deer, more entrees on the buffet!” Haha. Haven’t had trouble with rabbits or anything like that though thanks to our territorial pups. They do help.
Gardening WITH KIDS, yours are so lovely!
Thanks for sharing.
What was the polka dot plant 1:00?
Luxejungle M Hi! That is pulmonaria (lungwort), it gets pink and/or purple flowers in the spring.
Do you purchase locally or order from a garden center.
jeanie Jacobson I have purchased mainly from garden centers locally but when first starting out I ordered some things from catalogs.
at 4:25.... looks like Earth Angel (but I don't think it gets corrugated) or most likely Francis Williams
Hi Rose! Thanks so much! It sounds like you're on the right track with naming it... I do have a ton of Francis Williams but I do think I bought an Earth Angel at some point and have no idea where it went ( I have too many to remember now.) haha! Appreciate the comment! Thanks for watching :-)
Where do you get your plants?
Sam Cole I’ve purchased most of them at local nurseries, I’ve been given some divisions of things, some mail order... they’ve come from various places :-)
