Thank you for this.. so my character is between 38 and 41 years old.. give or take.. Nice.. and I'm a 48 year old retired Army Veteran.. still playing this game.. I love starwars.. Not that Disney crap.. Ofcourse The Mandalorian is cool. and Kenobi.
The Old Republic timeline was probably the biggest mystery and source of confusion to me. Thank you for summarizing it for the late-comers! Honestly, I imagined somewhere close to 10 years or less. Maybe 8-10, but not 18 :O Edit: I never took note of the timeskips following the class stories and Malgus' coup attempt. So 2 years later comes the Makeb storyline, another year later we get Shadow of Revan and then yet another year later we get the Ziost storyline. I always imagined the timeskips were a little shorter until the events of Fallen Empire. Amazing! So all characters were around for quite a while following their adventures. That's great!
I essentially had in my head that each class chapter took a year. The Hutt cartel I had as 1 year and revan at 1 as well. Ziost i never really counted but i did take it as Arcaan had began attacking so i had that as 5 years with an additional year to defeat vaylin. That's 11 years and in all honesty I stopped paying attention to how much time passed after that. Kinda just assumed that maybe a year or 2 had passed since the PC took the throne.
I was thinking that the events of the first three acts took place over the course of four years, given that is how the original trilogy lasted, and that the majority of the game took place over the course of twenty years, since that's generally the timeline between the original trilogy and the Yuuzhan Vong War in the original Expanded universe.
great video! I’m very grateful for the info on the books but I was curious if you were ever planning on doing a video actually diving into the stories and major events?
Yes! Right now my focus is on book lore and game character lore. I've been working on a Class stories playlist which might be what you're looking for! If you have any cool ideas i'd love to hear them!
3700 BBY Malgus born The Force’s reaction “oh snap!” I was under the assumption that it was 8 or so years, including the 5 year carbon freeze. So, if my character is a clean 20 years old at the beginning, he’s 38…time to add some salt and pepper to his hair color.
Quick little question. I have been under the assumption for years that KOTOR and KOTOR 2 took place in 3956 and 3951 BBY. I'm curious as to where the 3960 and 3955 BBY dates comes from. Thanks.
Just pointing this out. Either you slipped and said Knights of the Fallen Empire though it said Knights of the Eternal Throne. I could be wrong, so apologies if I'm wrong.
From what I've seen, there is evidence to support the Consular being among the first, along with trooper and imperial agent. I think the latest one to start was the Sith Inquisitor. Again this particular debate is quite hazy and will take hundreds of hours of cross referencing. Mostly the games continuity doesn't help. The SWTOR comics were meant to add context before the game launched but they have retconned some of it.
I chose to focus on the game's timeline and those relevant to it. The KOTOR games are a good start point. SWTOR comics is a good shout though! I'll not it down for a potential remake with more information. I wasn't totally happy with the way I edited this one anyways. Thanks!

Really love the new editing style!
I played with a couple options for this one, glad you liked it!
High time that our married chars have children^^ They should be in their late 30s by now.
Epic summary of the timeline

Great video. Loving the content
so my character is roughly 36 years old
A very interesting topic that I have already thought a lot about. 👍🏻
But now I realize, we are even a bit older in the game than I thought. xD
At least we're not yet as old as Satele or Malgus 🤣

The SWTOR Encyclopedia :)
I thought the time for the char ground story was shorter than 3 years. Who start 3641 and not 43?
Hard to tell!
Do more timeline of the old republic and other star wars
I was thinking of making one specifically for the books :)
I wonder how old our character was, when we clicked the play button.
That's up to you!
I like to use Kira's age as an estimate. her age in act 1 is listed as 20, so i use her age and place most my characters as 20 +/- 2 at act one.
A better question is how long did Malgus get stuck on that chair? Since 7.0? No bathroom since then?
For all we know he dies in this chair of old age 🤣 - Im wondering if he gets a bathroom break.
Just pointing this out. Either you slipped and said Knights of the Fallen Empire though it said Knights of the Eternal Throne. I could be wrong, so apologies if I'm wrong.
Other way round, the text on screen at the time said KOTET when it should have said KOTFE hehe. I had to use a lot of text okay xD
@@SWCentral Okay, I usually just listen to videos, but I felt like watching.
@@revansdisciple4636 You have a keen eye ;)
@@SWCentral Thanks. 👍
So which Classes start in which year?
I think the force using classes probably start first given their starting planet arc is about training.
@@eddielaster99 They start in similar time

No Tales of the Jedi, KOTOR, and the SWTOR comics.....
Shame.
