Hey Travis! Thank you for having me on your video and for your kind words! I love your channel and feel flattered to be featured. This track was a lot of fun to play and I love Joshbii's and Luca's takes too, they crushed it! I'm also in Nashville by the way - would love to meet you sometime when you're back from the road :) Keep it up! Cheers!
Wow!!! I did not expect to go on a UA-cam video! That is super cooool! The fun part is that I already watch a lot of your videos , so it could be easy to recognize your name on fiverr, but I did not realize it was you! Man! Rafael takes are incredibile , from another planet! Josh too made an incredibile job! Please continue to create content , your channel is dope! And if you gonna find yourself in Italy give me a call! Thank you again !
That first white boy KILLED! The ghost notes and fart tone. I loved it! On that beautiful Sandberg. AND slap is tougher (for me) on a 5-string PJ bass. That neck pickup gets in the way. AND he played it at the top of the neck (lower tone). He did it with ease and a sneaky smile at the end. Love that guy! AND love this series. Gimme more.
Playing Bass since 1968, playing in nite clubs, concerts, recordings "BUT" when I started going and playing in church to church it was a totally different feeling that I had to learn how to play Gospel music with me not knowing that God would take over my life. So, God proved himself to me and gave me a bassline in the 1980 recording "Call Him Up" (Can't Stop Praising His Name Jesus) that I believe changed Gospel Music with a little FIRE in the church, making it impossible to go to sleep in Church, but to stand on your feet and praise God. Great video Terry L. Green Gospel Bass Player.
One of my all time favorites. My childhood church choir used to rock that song. That song showed up in my UA-cam suggestions last week for the first time in years; listened to it on my way to work. :-)
Understandable amounts of love going to Rafael for his incredible playing in the comments, but for me as a bassist there was something so warm, relaxed, and lived-in about the way Josh approached this part. It’s always cool to see different instrumentalist’s interpretations of parts. Awesome video!
They all were great. For some reason #1 had my mouth on the floor. I thought the sound and style was perfect. As you said, it seems as though he's played shout gospel before. I thought the Fodera was the best version for #3. As soon as I heard the first note, I said 'Yep'. #2 was good as well, just needed to play with a little more feeling. Well done!
As a gospel musician for 40 plus years I really enjoyed this It shows how gospel musicians sound is set apart but can be copied. Please do a part two I would love to hear more musicians
He killed it. It felt like sunday morning. I'm a drummer COGIC church bread with 44 years experience playing drums . IVE PLAYED UNTIL I HANDS BLED during some services. Every Sunday church was like 11AM UNTIL 4PM SERVICES then go back at 6pm. LOL THAT'S NO LIE. THAT GUY IS GOOD GOOD. REALLY GOOD. I SHOULD KNOW SHOUTING MUSIC
Rafael was smokin so hot it's a wonder that the camera was able to see through the smoke. GREAT JOB ! The other two were also good as well, but you made the correct choice Travis.
Great video! I share your excitement over Rafael, so dynamic and in the pocket! The others were pro quality, but Rafael added that slap progression (just killing it). Thanks for posting this was fun to watch.
I'm a drum musiciner, I must say, Raphael, out of the people who was chosen, you were my favorite pick. Keep playing my brothers sound good all of you sound good
pretty awesome. I liked # 1 best. #2 guy felt like he just wasn't feeling it, this was a job and he put no heart in it. #3 was pretty darn good too, just was feeling the heart on #1 more.
I took over the music and media ministries at my church to elevate the quality of the worship. I'm a sax player, so I can't really offer much advice to the rhythm section players. This will now be my benchmark for my bass player! Thank you for introducing this whole process. Very exciting!
The first bassist had the best combination of tone, style and accuracy to me, but all of these guys are great musicians. You could definitely tell the difference in volume and tone with the Fodera bass with the last guy.
I always associate gospel with jazz basses, however the 2 basses that really punched throughout the mix and sounded best were the Sandberg which is a P/MM and the Fedora which is a P/J so that P pickup at the neck actually really works
The 1st guy was on point and got me moving, the 2nd guy there was more to be desired i needed more, and the 3rd felt disconnected from the movement. All three did great but it was the 1st for me.
Travis ,thx for ur content as well as these musicians..maybe on day ,you'll break down one of these...especially those triplets or whatever they were..love it!!!
Hey Travis, thank you for showing me different playing for string, five screen six string bass and also shouting music is crazy. Very challenging but fun thank you again my brother God bless you.
Raphael is totally outstanding!! I am wondering if you know or have heard of Faye Turner, she might be married now, but man, she is out of this world! She is totally gospel.
Love the presentation and articulation noted. Having played Gospel before, I can say it takes a LOT of work to get to this level. Using my ear was definitely a key (along with years of playing) but it takes some practice. Practicing is THE ONLY way to get to this level!
Amazing bass players. I'd like to see the first bass player again. I am going to check out your web site hoping for instructions to go from beginner to better in Shout Music. Thank you for doing this.
Hey Travis! You talked about having "feel" in your gospel bass playing briefly in the last Fiver bass video. Could you expand a little bit more on the "feel" aspect in a video? Doesn't have to be gospel music particularly, but talk about what the younger bass players should be listening for when it comes to that.
Hello Travis, great video!!! I have a question, when you sent the tracks what is the standard format? When you receive them back what is the format you receive them? I am talking about the audio tracks only.
This makes me want to SHOUT first, then BEAT MY TAMBOURINE, then get on my husband's DRUMS 😂 What can I say, I'm truly a church girl when I hear gospel music!!! Love your tracks 🧨🔥🎇🔥💯

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bro that song is GOATED!!!!
That is my most favorite bassline on any gospel song ever. The song still gets rotations till this day.
Keith Pringle.....he was in his prime then...you played bro....
My man Raphael took it personal! Awesome!
Im an organist for COGIC churches and I learned new bass lines from this... Awesome
teach me bro! How do I get my left hand chording better
Understandable amounts of love going to Rafael for his incredible playing in the comments, but for me as a bassist there was something so warm, relaxed, and lived-in about the way Josh approached this part. It’s always cool to see different instrumentalist’s interpretations of parts. Awesome video!

6:39 when bro caught bass face I knew he was about to go in
First dude lied he definitely a church bassist 😂
Yeah....he's had some of the dinners after church .....spaghetti, Kool-aid, and the roll.
As a gospel musician for 40 plus years I really enjoyed this It shows how gospel musicians sound is set apart but can be copied. Please do a part two I would love to hear more musicians
I definitely agree with that!
As a keyboardist, I’d play with any of them. But #1 was my favorite. His sound hits just right. That slap was everything! 🔥 He sounds like church.❤❤
1st guy did knock it out of the park..
The first guy when I seen his speakers in the back I knew he was dope
those Barefoots normally don't lie lol..
😂😂
Rafael was smokin so hot it's a wonder that the camera was able to see through the smoke. GREAT JOB !
The other two were also good as well, but you made the correct choice Travis.
First guy had the most fun by far! Everyone else did amazing but he was the only one who had a blast recording it.
I was not expecting the good one to be so good. that was a great groove you have right there raph!
Thank you!
Rafa killed it.. hand’s down.
Great video! I share your excitement over Rafael, so dynamic and in the pocket! The others were pro quality, but Rafael added that slap progression (just killing it). Thanks for posting this was fun to watch.
I don't even play bass, I'm a pianist and I'm in love with this channel. Your videos are so entertaining and educative
Fadera sounds amazing and the first guy killed it as well!
☝🏼🙄💨BrOo They All Sounds The Same Just a Copy Cat Sound from (THE KING OF ALLLL BASSES "THE FENDER JAZz Bass") Same'ole shit!!! 🙄
@jlzarate21 *Fodera
As great as that last bass sounded that Rafael was disgustingly good.
Yessir Raphael did great. They all did great but Raphael got the job for sure.
The first guy was amazing! Shout out to that guy! Wowwwww
I'm a drum musiciner, I must say, Raphael, out of the people who was chosen, you were my favorite pick. Keep playing my brothers sound good all of you sound good
Rafael was fire! Pocket tone on point. And he switched up the technique. I’m going to practice those joints and I’ll be ready for Sunday.
1st guy killed it... So sick!!! I had to keep replaying. I felt like I was in church. The slap was fire 🔥
The Fodera tone is Phat!! 😍
I had so much fun watching this! Thank you Travis ❤️🙏
Bro, that tone of the Fodera…🫨
☝🏼🙄💨The Saaame'ole Tierd ass Sound That's Just a Copycat from The KING of ALL BASSES (THE FENDER JAZZ YO!🙄)
Travis, you are the ultimate professional, and you are appreciated. Thank you bro! 👊🏾
The first guy did good but in my opinion Josh was the one that knocked it out the part for me.
Sandberg basses are just built different. Probably one of the reasons Rafael’s notes just flew off of the fretboard. Love those basses.
pretty awesome. I liked # 1 best. #2 guy felt like he just wasn't feeling it, this was a job and he put no heart in it. #3 was pretty darn good too, just was feeling the heart on #1 more.
Bass player #1, yessir!!! Go Rafael!!! Blessed my spirit! ❤
Raphael did an awesome Job
4:36 Yes, Travis, because “stank face” is the most important criterion. 🤣
Bro you are doing impeccable work you seriously need to consider doing Music Clinics South African fan right here
Great video Travis! would love to see the series continued! Great job to all the bass players featured.
Enjoyed them all! Lots of talent there! 🎉
I took over the music and media ministries at my church to elevate the quality of the worship. I'm a sax player, so I can't really offer much advice to the rhythm section players. This will now be my benchmark for my bass player! Thank you for introducing this whole process. Very exciting!
Dude, this content is good. I didn't even know this existed!
Hey Travis this is great stuff!
The first bassist had the best combination of tone, style and accuracy to me, but all of these guys are great musicians. You could definitely tell the difference in volume and tone with the Fodera bass with the last guy.
Super fun video Travis! So much talent out there. Love to see people enjoying their craft
Travis this video was outstanding I'm a keyboardist and I enjoyed it Great Job
I always associate gospel with jazz basses, however the 2 basses that really punched throughout the mix and sounded best were the Sandberg which is a P/MM and the Fedora which is a P/J so that P pickup at the neck actually really works
I gotta know if Rafa’s ever played in the black church before.
The 1st guy was on point and got me moving, the 2nd guy there was more to be desired i needed more, and the 3rd felt disconnected from the movement. All three did great but it was the 1st for me.
All the guy did a good job,...but that first guy❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉...he had the most feel! Loved it!
Yes, Rafael on fire, he had the feeling!❤
Love this format. Great to see bassists rising to the challenge.
Travis ,thx for ur content as well as these musicians..maybe on day ,you'll break down one of these...especially those triplets or whatever they were..love it!!!
That first one gave you bang for your buck!!🙌🏾🔥🔥
Hey Travis, thank you for showing me different playing for string, five screen six string bass and also shouting music is crazy. Very challenging but fun thank you again my brother God bless you.
Travis, This is Amazing what you are doing and what you bring to playing bass! Thanks.
Raphael is totally outstanding!! I am wondering if you know or have heard of Faye Turner, she might be married now, but man, she is out of this world! She is totally gospel.
If you send it to 100 bassists, you'll get 100 different basslines. That's why I love the instrument.
Love the presentation and articulation noted. Having played Gospel before, I can say it takes a LOT of work to get to this level. Using my ear was definitely a key (along with years of playing) but it takes some practice. Practicing is THE ONLY way to get to this level!
This was a video i never knew i needed. So awesome
What's the brand of the bass that you're playing? I can't find it anywhere, I was trying to read the headstock, but only got the first word. Thanks.
Amazing bass players. I'd like to see the first bass player again. I am going to check out your web site hoping for instructions to go from beginner to better in Shout Music. Thank you for doing this.
Play Rafael's pass at 0.75 speed... even 0.50. DUDE IS LOOOOCKED!!!!🔥
I liked the second guy - he didn't stick out. He didn't make himself much louder than the bass drum, he played with it.
I love it. I didnt even know i was playing level four bass lines. Nice video
plz continue this series, love the gospel feel
Great Job,Great players ,Good fun Keep Going Very entertaining,Made me throw my Guitars away but great video!!!
Loved it!!!! Keep posting these please
10:34 my Nigerian brother right there ❤🔥
AGREED.
Come on over and get you a plate, Rafael!!
That cheeky octave Rafael did at 7:14 was so groovy!
Wow. This is great!! I have learned so much.
Love this series and yes, I agree that the first guy just felt right.
Can you recommend some recordings? This style is completely off my radar.
Love this series! Keep doing more!
Continue with the series Travis. Non musician 👩🎤 here but I love gospel music 🎶 yes blk root music
Hey Travis! You talked about having "feel" in your gospel bass playing briefly in the last Fiver bass video. Could you expand a little bit more on the "feel" aspect in a video? Doesn't have to be gospel music particularly, but talk about what the younger bass players should be listening for when it comes to that.
Great video. I enjoyed this!
That $105 kid on his first take sounded the most confident and articulate. Bargain too..
The first take with the slap was insane !!!!!!!!!
Can you release these tapes on their own?? I'd love to sit down and analyze these guy's playing, especially Rafael's ghost notes!!
6:44
8:11
This was great....let's continue it sure!!
Hello Travis, great video!!! I have a question, when you sent the tracks what is the standard format? When you receive them back what is the format you receive them? I am talking about the audio tracks only.
I really enjoyed this bro! Blessings to you!
These guys sound like all the bass players that have played at my church and my old church
Man that was a great video!!! My first time seeing any of your stuff. [pause]
Rafael Freitas, everryone. Rafael Freitas! 🤌🫵👊👏🤝
Whew!! U did that! U was all over that fretboard 😅🔥🔥
Love the video. If you do this again can you send a more interesting track. Feel like you’ll get more variation in style of play. Thanks!
Yeah Travis, I like these vids. I need help with my shout playing, so I’ll be buying this track. Thanks.
Raphael's 2nd take is the best of all of them.🎸👌
Loved this! ❤️
This makes me want to SHOUT first, then BEAT MY TAMBOURINE, then get on my husband's DRUMS 😂 What can I say, I'm truly a church girl when I hear gospel music!!! Love your tracks 🧨🔥🎇🔥💯
