Inside Kerestir: Hungary's Biggest Hasidic Jewish Festival ✡️

  • Until this film I didn’t really have any connection with the hassidic jewish community. Finally now - thanks to the invitation of my good friend - I also had the chance to visit Kerestir and attend on the annual jewish hassidic festival, which is organized every year for the honor of Reb Shayele, a famous Hungarian rabbi, who lived in the area 100 years ago.

    My brother and I spent our summers in Bodrogkeresztúr in the 50s. My family lived in Budapest.
    My father’s orthodox brother, his family and his sister-in law and her family lived in the same house-4 adults and 11 children. In the summers, with my brother and me, there were 13 of us kids.
    My aunt’s 2 sisters also lived in Keresztur. One sister’s husband was the shochet and taught the cheder. He and his family ended up in Israel. The rest of us came to America.
    Amióta eljöttünk 57 ben, azóta nem mentem visza.
    A szuleim mentek minden évben és jártak a temetőket.

    As I live in Poland we have also few places where crowds of Jews are coming from all corners of world... . It is very impressive because the rabbis like Elimelech from Lizhensk were teaching very simple things but people respect him so much that they come from US , Australia or even Argentina just to thank . It is incomparable to anything I have witnessed

    • @Judah-Speaks
      @Judah-Speaks 2 роки тому +8

      Respectfully, to say that the Noam Elimelech was know for teaching simple things is not accurate. His teachings were very mystical, so much so he’s called the Spiritual Leader of the Spiritual Leaders (“Rebbe of Rebbes”). Most do not understand what he writes. He may have had simple teachings as well, but he is know mostly as a great mystic.

      My son lives in Poland when he is not visiting here. There are small Jewish communities, larger ones in Warsaw and Krakow, major cities have choices of synagogues., plus a Jewish Community Center. Some visitors have learned of their Jewish history as adults, as friends of mine in the USA have too.

    SUPER IMPORTANT TO MENTION: we do N-O-T pray to Reb. Shayale at his grave. We ONLY pray to G-d. Jews dont talk or request from the deceased. Only from our Creator. We basically pray "psalms" on behalf of reb. Shayale, for his soul. And we pray to G-d about our needs and wishes. And we assume, that in the Merit of the righteous Rebbe, our prayer will be answered and our wishes be granted. Anything else would be IDOL WORSHIP. So its very important to explain to those non religious, that in Judaism we make that distinction. We dont worship someone thats burried, we go to Honor Reb Shayale and pray for him, and ourselves. But always only to Hashem( G-d). !! :)

      @JESHURUN I used to be an evangelistic reborn, only to find out I was living a lie. Why? Because Jesju hoano(t)sri was not the moasji'ach (anointed one) as the temple was not rebuilt and he was not anointed (moasju'ach). Just to name only two of the requirements of a moasji'ach. Also, there can only be One Saviour, One Lord and One King of all kings and that is the G'd of Israel. Only He is worthy to be praised and exalted as He gives us every day according to our needs. The (incorporeal) G'd of Israel is a jealous God. He does not want people to worship anything (and everybody) else other than Him. You really don't have to give up the (Jewish) teachings of Jesus but you have to stop praising him as your saviour and lord in order to be part of the tribe that clings to One sole, unique Father and G'd.

    Thank you for that. I had read about the various villages where hassidic jews return in Europe like this. The Hungarian villagers are mostly not very well educated nor do they have much money so at least this brings them some additional money for letting properties etc and they seem very tolerant too which is good to see given the problems people seem to have all over the planet in tolerating others. To exclude women as one of the signs did and indeed this culture does is permitted in some countries in specific area although not always lawful as has been found here in London if there are any attempts to reserve one side of a public street for men only etc. - the clash between cultures is not always easy to overcome.

    • @swineheartdoppleganger5516
      @swineheartdoppleganger5516 2 роки тому

      if the villages were anymore primitive and they'd be walking backwards! The festival excludes women because that is religion it's all religions not not ultra orthodox judaism, muslim, christian, hindu, etc, in all bibles it clearly states in order of importance - God, Man, Woman, child, beast. if you don't like it don't be religious. I love that men are the top sex after God.
