  • Bonus 4 minutes: Watch Yoel Levy Expose the Lev Tahor Mastermind: • Cult Mastermind of Lev...
You may have met Mendy Levy. Watch his brother, Yoel Levy, recount his dramatic escape after 3 suspicious deaths surprised the Lev Tahor cult.
Over the course of one year, in a community of three hundred, three people died. Each death was easily avoidable and markedly suspicious, all were related to Yoel.
A new 35 minute documentary shares the story of a 20 year old survivor of the Lev Tahor cult’s suspenseful escape from their Guatemalan compound.
The film, produced by several members of the Hasidic community who are trying to expose the abuse and help people trapped inside Lev Tahor,
follows Yoel Levy as he meets fellow cult survivor Rabbi Yaniv Assis for the first time in 10 years.
Rabbi Assis is a respected educator and Torah scholar who spent time with the cult when they were based in a small town in Quebec’s Laurentian Mountains. Yoel Levy was born and raised in Ste Agathe, Quebec to parents who were members of Lev Tahor, a semi-secluded Jewish cult with members of its leadership sitting in prison for kidnapping, child abuse, and child sexual exploitation. They both allowed a film crew to document their reunion, where they tried to piece together the twisted Lev Tahor puzzle.
Using newly leaked documents, photos, and videos, the documentary details the cult’s dramatic midnight flight from Quebec as authorities were closing in to rescue 14 children, and their travels to several locations, each more contained and enclosed than the previous, tightening the noose around members’ families with stricter rules and regiments.
Once inside their own remote Guatemalan compound, kept inside with barb wire and armed guards, three easily avoidable deaths took place, including the tragic passing of Yoel’s father.
Facing constant abuse, punishment, and hunger, Yoel made a dramatic exit following an engagement to a girl he had never met. He was the first escapee from the compound. His brother Mendy followed, and numerous others have since managed to leave, some (like Yoel) dropping their Jewish observance, while others (like Yaniv) opting to grow in their religious beliefs.
Following the incarceration of four members of Lev Tahor’s administration, including their current leader Nachman Helbrans, more members have left the cult. Providing them with food, travel expenses, and lodging in safe homes with religious families is a group of people who call themselves “Lev Tahor survivors.” They operate a website, www.levtahorsu... and a phone line those committed to escaping the cult can call (the number is +1-725-226-3636).
“The goal of this documentary is to create awareness about the destruction of lives taking place inside Lev Tahor,” said Meyer*, a member of Lev Tahor Survivors. “We need your help in spreading the video and the information contained inside it to anyone who may be supporting the cult. We are working on several more short documentaries and are preparing to release incriminating documents from a hard drive smuggled out of the compound. We will not stop until the abuse ends and members are in control of their own lives.”
More information, how you can help, and further films exposing the cult can be found at www.levtahorsu...

Lendman ( the man of the group used to pray at the beginning of the street that I was on the dead-end street there (was a lake), I remember seeing the women there in COLOURED clothing. I believe that the caretaker of properties name was Maurice). I knew you guys were Jewish, (but that's all I knew at the time). I'm really glad to see that some of the survivors are actually coming out with their stories. I know it's hard to break away, but you're doing it, keep at it you're doing an amazing job.

Wow, this guy is an absolutely strong person. I am a survivor of extreme abuse, where it was happening to me in plain sight, where no-one did a thing about it, I was completely isolated in it, and had no-one to help or give me protection also. I KNOW what it means to be this isolated, and how extremely rough it is to escape it. You're reputation and life is completely destroyed and damaged before you even have a chance to form a reputation or life for yourself. When I see fellow survivors like this person, it makes me realize how strong of a person I am too. I couldn't imagine the language buriers, and how these people ensured to isolate their victims so extremely, that they even made sure that they couldn't even speak the same language of the society they were surrounded by to seek help to escape. This guy has a great head on his shoulders. He deserves ONLY the best for the rest of his life.

Shiezoli has the best content on Lev Tahor. Honestly, there is so little information on Lev Tahor online, Shiezoli is by far the most authoritative source on Lav Tahor, their videos are extremely well made (without the subtitles you wouldn't be able to follow or understand half of what they're saying in their broken english), and it gives you an inside view of the darkest things happening within their walls. They have an amazing collection of footage, letters, and things you just cannot find anywhere else. I rewinded and paused the video a few times so I can read the letters of Helbrans suicide note, etc. I just never saw this info anywhere else (they should honestly open a library just on Lev Tahor). It's just amazing work. Guys, keep it up! And continue raising awareness and spreading this message all over.

This is extremely well made - well done for the film quality never mind the content. He was so brave to escape. He is an amazing young man speaking yiddish, Spanish, English and Hebrew and thank you so much for doing this in English (my language). So strong and wise and sensible. I hope those of the rest of his family who want to leave can leave. They need more publicity otherwise people will keep donating to them. It was the same with the FDLS cult in the US - they used the media with the polygamous wives in old fashioned dresses and lots of cute children to make you think the group was religious and good but in both cases under the surface because of the isolation and strict rules people abuse the power and hurt children. I have no problems with anyone choosing a life to lead with their family however differently from mine in the UK but you must follow both the law of the land (no under age marriage etc) and no physical abuse of children. The other issue I believe some have said Lev Tahor has used is some drugs used against people. The FLDS group (never mind groups like Scientology) also took children from one family and into another (never mind marriage of underage girls and child abuse of boys and girls) - this is pretty awful always because children form bonds with siblings and parents and being removed breaks that attachment and destroys your sense of stability and love.

What I really came to comment on is, what Burroughs is referring to sounds like faith, or “a leap of faith”. I tend to look to see if the metaphorical “net” is already there before I “leap”, just as I look both ways before crossing a street. However, there are many times in life where we must jump into the unknown if we are to grow. Thanks for the thought provocation with that quotation, I appreciate it!

I grew up on a remote Native American reservation in the USA. I have been curious and looking into several different types of cultures in my free time. The Jewish people, in particular, remind me of my culture. Not religion, we had no "religion" in the proper term, but the culture of a close community. It appears that Jews may fight eachother a bit, but all in all the infrastructure of your people to survive, not assimilate and not be absorbed into the world around you is commendable. It reminds me of my people as well.
The ability to call bullshit in your own faith, to defend your people even against the extremists of the faith is commendable. It is honestly rarely seen in most other religions, and in my case...rarely seen in my culture.
I ask for prayers for my people if it does not offend your people. My people are decaying, we will not survive, this I know. It's complicated for us to get justice even if our perpetrators are our fellow tribesmen.

    • @haleyguthrie3113

@Maiyn yay! So are the aboriginals only one tribe or more? If so, do they speak a traditional tongue or did colonialism wipe it out? 🤔
Were any of you guys sea people?
I heard that the aboriginals are one of the oldest tribal cultures, is that true still? I know that many undocumented tribes in the Amazon have been seen and have asked for help in some ways. Just curious.
What are your origin stories? And did any of the tribes had "religion" or was it misunderstood by colonialism?

    • @haleyguthrie3113
      @haleyguthrie3113 2 роки тому

@Maiyn so interesting. Is "stolen generation" the same act of "breed them out"? In America, the Spaniards were far worse about that. Steal women for baby farms. Then after the trail of tears, we were forced to.give up our children at 5 years old for forced boarding schools. That wiped out entire tribes, about 150 tribes died in those schools.
The Dawes Act after that, faced a problem with plains natives. Particularly the Pawnee and Comanche. But more so...they needed men to settle there and map the lands. So an Act was passed that if you are "native", you can buy the land for $5. Which would have been nice, but over 98% of that land was sold under the table with fake paperwork. White and black people that we call "$5 indians". After that we were given free healthcare but our women were forcibly sterilized every single time it could happen. That happened up into the 1980s. It's been a long history BS after the revolution. Over 430 of the 500(ish)treaties were broken. Majority were offenses on "our wombs", meaning they tried to destroy our women. Our women are held in high stature in comparison to the rest of the world at the time. American government knows this, and use it to this day.
