Is literally nobody commenting on the brilliance of the hilarious "from the bottom to the top" cuts? This is not only brilliantly edited (like seriously, holy shit) but also includes the hilarity of the show with your won humor. Seriously exceptional work. Thank you for sharing ❤

Excellent editing, yet again! The irony here is that the *real* Blackbeard was pretty strongly opposed to violence. He earned his reputation mostly through false narratives and parlor tricks!
IKR? Like, there are little tidbits of real history littered throughout this series - like Ned Lowe's crew really did turn on him because he was a truly sadistic fuck, like Blackbeard didn't enjoy killing people, like Stede Bonnet was actually badly wounded in an encounter with the Spanish just off the Republic of Pirates and there met one Ed Teach. :)
And according to QI (funnily enough, on an episode where Rhys Darby was a panelist), matelogogy was real, most pirate ships were basically co-captained, and many pirate ships were run as mini-democracies with profit-sharing amongst the crew (they talked it through). It's from the R series, episode 12, although I think the matelogogy discussion might have been from a different ep..... It's just really weird to watch something from 2012 with Rhys talking about pirates and hitting many of the beats this show hits! It's like the universe was planting seeds for this absolute gem of a show.

Exactly!! It was all imagery. Like word of mouth marketing. Even so in the show he got pretty violent once he started his Kraken era.
