Just a little fun note.. - Driglok outsped Crobat during their fight. - Driglok 's base speed is 105 while Crobat's is 130. - With them being equal level, this battle very likely was decided by the Jolly Nature causing Driglok to have the higher speed. (Likely due to Crobat having a lowered speed nature) Doing quick calculations, based on what I'm seeing for stats at 20:57.. Driglok currently has 70 speed. Crobat at level 25 with a nature that has reduced speed would have a speed range between 63 and 69, depending on IVs. (With a neutral nature, the speed range is between 70 and 77, so this is most likely the case. That or lucked out winning speed ties with 0 IV crobat) Unfortunately, didn't see Driglok's stats after hitting level 25, and before doing the game show.. so uncertain as to what impact this has had on the calculation. My best bet would be improving IVs, which would make the above calculations even more tight. Really enjoying this series so far. But I am looking forward to seeing more!
With how much Jared loves bug types there's another romhack he'd love, it lets you be a Gym Leader and you get to choose the type you want to be, it only allows you to use pokemon of that type.

I think it would be more interesting in the sense of Rogue-like exploration and strategy, to let yourself catch pokémon like normal and search out for teams that have complementary type matchups

Dang, what an episode! At first I thought you were a bit foolish to choose the merchant over one more pokemon but now I see there are "other ways" to lose money so spending some might not have been the worst idea... Keep it up regardless!
This game was not made to catch one Pokémon per area. It's normal to lose all but 1 or 2 Pokémon to each gym leader, and you can always just lose one or two to a stray trainer. You physically don't have enough routes per gym to refill your team if you only catch 1. Not to mention the team building exercise is a big part of the challenge and the fun of watching
Oh and Jared for quick easy money I'd suggest buying the Amulet Coin or Luck Incense as soon as possible (2 if you can) or sell your items like the wing's for allot of money
