- Join @notOtzdarva @Ev3ntic and @Classed Witness an insane Dead by Daylight gameplay featuring the killer fearing pallets like never before. The new exhaustion perk, Background Player, activates whenever the killer picks a survivor, providing them with a sprint burst that is perfect for making pallet and flashlight saves. With the added power struggle and flip flop perks, the downed survivor can even save themselves after being slugged for a few seconds.

I honestly think this is fine. As a killer main exhaust perk that is more fun to play around is a lot more refreshing than DH.

I really like the idea of an exhaustion perk thats designed to have utility outside of chase rather than in chase. Obviously it won’t be nearly as popular or powerful as the others but its a cool concept and looks fun to use.
This Huntress was actually fearsome, this could have gone wrong in so many ways if just one blunder happened

That is what I ended up having to do in about half my matches yesterday. Its way too dangerous to pick up people under pallets or in the open now so they can just bleed to death for all i care.
It fing sucks.
People treat bully squads as this extremely common thing that happens all the time.

@@Lacter12 I have bled out 2 survivors in a match who had no mither bc I just couldn't hook them. edit changed mother to mither, they probably had no mother as well though the way they were playing
@deanomac I had this happen. They were a swf 2 of them and they were sabotaging the hooks to make it so I couldn't do anything. I didn't feel bad about it at all. The other two left them after I told them not to help them by basically just kept chasing them off but not for long cause one would just pick themselves up. Was a long match. But I took it as a win.

This boon is especially crazy in maps with floors.
In game everyone has pretty standard names like Eventic, Otzdarva and Tyrone which, while technically not real names for those first two, you then have WorthlessBug333 for Hens which just made this whole stream funnier. It's like having Jim, Elly and Bill walk into a bar with their friend UsefulCockroach420. Seriously funny stuff.
Honestly we might see Power Struggle get changed given the videos that'll come out of this situation, but for a short while it'll be funny.
EDIT: Random guess: We'll probably see animations overriding the falling be changed over a change to any perk, but that's just me being hopeful. I really hope they don't end up just neutering Backroom Player cause it's basically DOA for solos and similar with Power Struggle.

And people said that its discount sprint burst. Just the fact that you can run and dont have to worry about leaving exhaustion at 0.5 seconds is sooooo much better for this occasions (i do say that sprint burst is still awesome if you have it ready mid chase)
Lightborn perk 📈
I had a survivor complain yesterday that I was kicking gens. And then we see this. I like watching Otz and these guys do things in tandem like this. But I think it's a clear indicator of a few things. A SWF is very powerful. Survivors can make MANY mistakes and the killer is allowed far less. This is because it's 4v1. The survivors will always have more leeway. This game can never be balanced for both sides in all situations. That being said, this does look pretty fun.

@@peterparker0999 because this perk is a guaranteed save if surv under the pallet. Killer forced to slug. You can push away sprint burster and make him waste his perk in this situation, now the fucker will fuck around untill endgame collapse and nothing you can do. Also this is garanteed flash save if no wall to face nearby.
Dh is stronger for most of the team, but now every team will have one degener with that perk to make pick ups impossible and waste million of killer time. If you dont understand that rip yo your braincells
@@MrPendalv Thing is, this perk will only truly shine when used in 4 person SWFs, otherwise you can just down the player with the perk, and the 4 person SWFs already have tons of other builds to essentially win the game so this perk alone changes nothing tbh.

Slugging to death hard counters this playstyle and its the only real counter to it.
2 months late but I understand as someone that mains Ghosty … The best thing you can do is mind game. I’ve had games where two people walled me in lights and still got away. You have too be unpredictable picking a suvivor up. Even if you gotta leave em on the ground, Pursue one of the savers and take a hit marker off which will give you breathing room. There are some games you really can’t do anything though, the squads are just really good. Just play for fun and it’ll work out.
Why is Renato as big as Oni?
I used to welcome beamer squads. There was good counterplay available to killers and it was fun interaction for both sides and I could usually still get the pickup off with a bit of awareness and skill despite the ridiculous 89.9 degree blind angles. Now, with Background Player and more forgiving flashlights, what used to take a lot of balls and skill to pull off now becomes nearly an automatic flashlight save, often from a healthy survivor. As killer, I am going to give flashlights much more respect than they likely deserve. I've run Lightborn a handful of times and swore never to run it before now to considering running it every game (replacing former favorite Mad Grit), if I play at all. I will pay more attention to lobbies. I will DC-dodge from loading screens after 7 second switches if I don't have Lightborn on. I will hard slug. I'm already conditioned to camp and tunnel SWFs anyways, I may as well make the transition to pure evil. It must be what BHVR wants, after all. I very much doubt that I am the only killer who will take such an approach. Also, if I want to DC I just go AFK to prevent moments like 13:32 and waste the survivors' time.
Get your content and fun in now lads, because this cannot last. This will contribute to less killer players staying to play DbD and those that do stay will play nastier. It's going to be a fun 3 months for survivors as what's left of DbD's player base learns the hard way and the gnashing from killers will be glorious.
This extremely niche perk, which few will use in the long run, will not have a significant impact on player counts. Nice essay dude.
Well if you have a place for mad grit in your builds, then you playing on medium mmr. Against hardcore swf its just waste of a perk. Lightborn against 3+ flashies is good, because their builds are also around saves and to counter slugging and tunneling, not for genrushing. But as soon as they see lightborn they will immediately switch to genrush and you are in situation where you playing 3 perks against genrush with adrenalines and UB
@@MrPendalv If I have space in my build for Mad Grit, it's because I have success with it even at high MMR. Unlike you, not everyone needs multiple slowdowns to get to high MMR.

@@XaqNautilus i dont run slowdowns at all you filthy degener lmao. I just play Oni and i do it at same lvl as you can see it on montages but unlike all oni mains im the mastermind in strategical usage of blood fury. Only slowdown i have in my most hardcore build is painres.
You can use mad grit on strong killers and win on high mmr, but you will not win often, that perk is useless. They figure it out after first protective hit and dont bother next time. Waste of the perk. But if you are godlike nurse you can win even with 3 perks ofc, this killer is too strong

Honestly, background player is one of the worst exhaustion perks ever. It requires your team to know you’re using it so they know to go down under a pallet or in an area where you can easily get a flashlight save. If the killer sees you have a flashy in the lobby, they’re going to try to face walls when they pick up, so it’s nearly impossible to get this perk to work with randoms.
Perfectly balanced game, they should nerf killers.

I like how this perk went from complete ass in the ptb to probably the best survivor perk in the recent chapter.
It’s not “the” best to be honest, only coordinated SWFs who don’t do gens use it for fun. Gen focused SWFs won’t use it as much and will continue using same old meta perks
I'd say Cut loose and PoT are a little better, for SWFs PoT makes running at 112% and 119% really easy compared to before and cut loose pairs really well with lithe and lucky brake

Seeing how flashlight saves already take no skill anymore, this perk makes it worse. Long term this will be a bad development, specifically for new people who want to learn killer. With Tunneling being meta I reckon it will get worse.
After this being a somewhat popular thing, I'd laugh at every survivor who whines about survivor queues takes forever.

@@peterparker0999 I can’t speak for anyone else but I personally would’ve run it with For The Ppl or BT/ Guardian. It definitely would’ve helped against basement builds or camping STBFL players.

@@yosenpaitommy213 The only thing the perk would do is make you safe, the teammate who you unhooked was doomed no matter what, so the perk was still dog water at preventing camps/basement builds especially compared to something like deliverance.
