Policemen extorting money from motorists on our roads has been with us for years and not every Nigerian has access to a camera or can boldly record police men asking for money. Unfortunately, the sacking of these two policemen does not deal with the root causes.
It's quite unfortunatethat they lost their job. But the other guy did not say anything. At the very least one of them should be still working.
The only job this guys knows how to do is to carry gun. Just hope they dont turn to crime.

Imagine at their ages, they are still constables, the most junior rank in the NPF. How much is their salary? Around 45 or 50k a month. For those saying that their punishment is harsh and severe, the two culprits should have known better that with their rank it is dismissal. Had they been corporals or sergeants or even inspectors, the punishment would have been demotion in rank.
I deeply feel sorry for them, losing their jobs in this harsh economic weather.
However, I believe they may be recalled in future so that they don't use their fire arms training to become societal nuisances.

Those two men were not even original police men, they were just ancillary hands employed by the Npf. I don't think you are aware of that. And for three years they have not received any salaries. I believe you are not aware of that. It is pure wickedness for a corrupt government to make these men and their families hungry for three years and then sack them for asking for money without applying the use of force. It is cruelty and I don't wish for you to fall into a place of desperate temptation and the law will not temper justice with mercy in your case.

The punishment is too harsh for what they did. The Dutch would not dismiss their own police for even killing a black man. Nigeria should pay officers well to end this kind of embarrassment. What we see in Nigeria everyday is a case of big thieves punishing small thieves.

These police men were dismissed because they tried to extort a foreigner (mind you they were unsuccessful in that attempt), here they are, dismissed because the Nigerian police whose bad reputation dates back to several decades suddenly wants to look good to the outside world. Meanwhile we all know that the rot in the Nigeria police is a trillion times bigger than that incident that occurred between these 2 cops and the Dutch lady. It would have been fair and appropriate to punish these police officers if every member of the Nigerian police force had access to basic needs such as decent food, clothes, and shelter. These officers risk their lives to provide a sense of security to commuters by standing on the highways. How many millennials would take up such a job? While it's true that some police officers are mean to citizens, these particular officers were not and only expected some rewards, hoping it was their lucky day.
Life is tough, and I hope these men find new sources of income for themselves and their families. If such exists, I would donate to their GoFundMe to help them start over.
