So a higher stall just helps with a quicker response when hitting the gas right ....in basic terms... have you had any problems sliding from the back when you punch it?
Also as you go through each gear, the RPMs dont drop down as much, keeps you up in the ls1s powerband. A higher stall is the single best mods you can do to an a4 F-body. Despite what he said about a "lower" stall to be more street friendly...You can tune the car to lock the converter at any speed say like 50mph and it will feel exactly like stock. As far as street driveability it's all about what your plans with the car are and what you consider streetable. If you are considering camming the car, you don't want a stall like 2800. was going to remove my trans next month to get it rebuilt stronger than factory, however yesterday when i was driving, the revs would continue to climb and not shift into 2nd, came to a stop, put in neutral and revs climbed to 1000 and stayed there, when light turned green, i put back in drive and it sounded and felt like it banged into gear, finally got it home (fortunately was less than a mile away) checked the fluid level, looked fine, trans has 94k miles and is 20 yrs old. so not sure what happened.
I installed a 3600 yank stall in my 2000 z28 and man did it put some power to the wheels. However. And there is a big however good bye gas mileage and you better make sure your transmission is in good shape.
@@TWAMotorsports since you disconnected the shift selector underneath is why you didn't have to remove anything on the interior, correct? did you remove your y pipe, I don't see it? if so, that wouldn't be a problem for me as last year I had to remove the y pipe and cats to replace exhaust gaskets. hey bud, had a question, i have to replace my AC condenser anyway, so can i install the aux cooler to the new condenser before i reinstall? also, you said there is a vacuum line on the top side of the trans, is that the vent tube? Thanks
I have a 2000 Firebird wasn't shifting into drive in the winter but when it warmed up it starts shifting so then we thought it was one or two solenoids which I replaced both did not fix that problem and then it started making a clanky noise and took it to a quick lube and they said it was my flywheel another said it was a flexplate since it is an automatic...So how hard is it to Fix cost and was that the issue causing my shifting problems in the winter?
Do I have to worry about messing anything up when spinning the crank? This will be my first time doing this when installing my 3000 stall that I bought. Hope you understand what I’m saying
Would you say you're still happy with the 3200 stall? I'm undecided to go 3200 or 3600 for my stock 02 camaro. Go big or go home? Weekend driver car. Looking at a circle d. Also price changes from 549 to 999.99 fromm 3200 to 3500 to 3600 stall.

@@venomhemi3914 generally I get the best results if you have the tire to hold it by flashing the torque converter. Which means leaving at idle. You will have to experiment to see what nets the best results.
Hi good afternoon...I had a question about the vacuum.where is the vacuum line on the transmission and where does it connect to
No vacuum line on the transmission
Ok thanks
You're welcome
I hope to be installing a 3600 stall and nitrous this winter in my 00 Camaro. I will also be posting my install on my channel. Great content !
Thank you. I will check it out.
Is that yank pro series 10,5” ??
No it was a ss3200 I believe
@@TWAMotorsports Ok thank you for the answer i thought that 9.5” or 10.5” is size of bolt or something but its just diamater of whole converter so must fit to the car. The difference is only this that whole converter is bigger and hold more power
@FDGoD55 yes. They make 1000s of options
@@TWAMotorsports yeah also price is the same like for circle d converters
@FDGoD55 both make great products
Did you have to do anything to get the trans down that low? i’ve done everything you have so far and still don’t have enough room to get the top bell housing bolts, mine didn’t sag down very much at all
Exhaust needs to be unhooked
was going to remove my trans next month to get it rebuilt stronger than factory, however yesterday when i was driving, the revs would continue to climb and not shift into 2nd, came to a stop, put in neutral and revs climbed to 1000 and stayed there, when light turned green, i put back in drive and it sounded and felt like it banged into gear, finally got it home (fortunately was less than a mile away) checked the fluid level, looked fine, trans has 94k miles and is 20 yrs old. so not sure what happened.
They are known to fail
@@TWAMotorsports update, i replaced the throttle position sensor and all problems disappeared.
Awesome
I installed a 3600 yank stall in my 2000 z28 and man did it put some power to the wheels. However. And there is a big however good bye gas mileage and you better make sure your transmission is in good shape.
That's for sure
Love the car!!! What size are the wheels and tires?
Thank you. 17x9.5 and 17x11. Made a video when I put them on too.
TWA Motorsports cool. And what lowering shocks and springs did you use?
@@Eviljay187 in this video it was stick cut springs.
did you remove the exhaust and what about any interior pieces? Thanks
No interior removed and can be done with exhaust in place
@@TWAMotorsports since you disconnected the shift selector underneath is why you didn't have to remove anything on the interior, correct? did you remove your y pipe, I don't see it? if so, that wouldn't be a problem for me as last year I had to remove the y pipe and cats to replace exhaust gaskets. One further question, your 2x4 stands you have under the front wheels, I made my own, I saw yours is stacked 7 high, was that sufficient room to do this job? Thanks, and great videos, very informative.
@@mikeb6033 yes no interior removed. The y pipe was out for another reason. It can be done with y pipe in place. The 2x4 stands are high enough if the the transmission stays under the car. If you have to pull it out you will have to lift a little more with a jack.
@@TWAMotorsports no it will stay under the car, only thing I'm doing besides stall converter is move the trans away far enough for me to get in there and redo the rear main seal
@@mikeb6033 yeah it should be high enough then
so did you have to put oil in it? i always thought you did, but actually havent done it myself
You are supposed to
Have you had any issues with the 4L60 in any of the Fbodys you’ve put converters in? I know the internet says they will fail immediately but I see more and more guys running them hard with no issues
They will fail faster but I don't drive mine that much.
Thinkn bout getting a stall converter for my 95 formula lt1 about to install my long tubes and ory.. what would be the best stall for my setup???
I would do a 2800 to 3200 in an lt1 car with stock cam. They make more torque down low. Just my opinion.
@@TWAMotorsports right on thanks for the reply bro... keep that bird on the road!
@@marolsx874 thanks. I will try :)
Notice a big difference between the yank 3200 and the yank 3600? I just recently bought a yank SS 3600 for myself. I also noticed mine has 6 bolt holes that connect to the flexplate rather than the 3. Is that going to affect anything?
No that is normal. 3600 is definitely more noticeable than 3200
Dog-bone creeper is legit! Worth every penny....
F. Yilmaz they are handy. Sometimes I forget I have it lol.
what do you think about a 2600-2800 stall? Im getting a Hawks 8.8 rear end and a converter, possibly a built trans(Before I make any engine mods(supercharger, cam, heads, etc) I want to make sure the trans and rear end will hold up
I like that size for drivability but will ultimately depend on where the engine is at peak torque
Great video, keep up the great work!
Thank you
hey bud, had a question, i have to replace my AC condenser anyway, so can i install the aux cooler to the new condenser before i reinstall? also, you said there is a vacuum line on the top side of the trans, is that the vent tube? Thanks
You should be able to. Yes there is a vent on the top of the transmission
@@TWAMotorsports great, thank you
@@TA-ky4pj you're welcome
I have a 2000 Firebird wasn't shifting into drive in the winter but when it warmed up it starts shifting so then we thought it was one or two solenoids which I replaced both did not fix that problem and then it started making a clanky noise and took it to a quick lube and they said it was my flywheel another said it was a flexplate since it is an automatic...So how hard is it to Fix cost and was that the issue causing my shifting problems in the winter?
Never heard of this. Sometimes I have had shifters freeze up in winter but flywheel will require removing the transmission.
Nice Job man ,what do you think is better 3200 or 3600 for daily drive?, I am Camaro 2002 owner my car have cam , headers and 150 shot
If seriously driving everyday. 3200
do you have to drain all the trans fluid out? during install
not all but you are going to lose quite a bit of it.
@@TWAMotorsports ok i got my stall going in next week, Ill just buy a few quarts then... thanks man!

Do I have to worry about messing anything up when spinning the crank? This will be my first time doing this when installing my 3000 stall that I bought. Hope you understand what I’m saying
No you don't. No issues spinning the crank.
@@TWAMotorsports okay cool
@@TWAMotorsports also did you had to add more trans fluid in the cooler? Or was it good? I’m just GM’s ATF VI fluid but it’s full synthetic 🤷🏾♂️
I had to add more.
If it is a weekend toy do a 3600 or bigger
@@TWAMotorsports thanks for your input and fast reply. Yeah going big! Definitely my favorite channel.
You're welcome. Good luck on your build
Did you have to put shims in for the stall?
No
Can you run a 3200 on a stock engine with no cam
You sure can.
so it is only for automatic transmisions?
Yes. Torque Converters are for automatic cars.
i know this is way old. but if you had to do it again would yoy have gone bigger or no?
Not for a daily driver
Is the process the same for 93-97 trans am
Matthew Perry it's not exactly the same but close. This would get you through it.
I wish I could pay you to guide me while working on mine!
You can always ask me questions at no cost👍
How high do you need car to clear bellhousing ?
Probably 2 feet
did you go with the Hayden cooler or the B&M cooler?
Hayden I believe
@@TWAMotorsports great thanks, just so Im understanding correctly, about the cooler, you leave the line at the bottom of the radiator alone, the one on top goes to the cooler and then from the cooler to the line you just removed?(the one with the clamp) Also does it matter which way their oriented on the cooler? Thanks
That is correct.
Great vid bud!!! 👍👍 super descriptive!!

My 2000 trans am has a stall converter but is very slow to take off.. I need help figuring that out
Maybe gear issue
Would it do that if it still has the 373’s?
@@gamerwithbrawlhallakiddrag7833 it could. Converter and gears go hand and hand. Need to work together
@@TWAMotorsports that engine and transmission was in another trans am and previous owner said it was working fine. Problem started when they did the swap but didn’t ask him if he had gear on the other car

Why didn’t you stall it up you only showed flashing it or stepping on it from a stop you should show a video of you holding the brake and loading it up to 3200
I didn't even think to do that.
Beat mod ever by far and away especially on these A4s
Very true.
Another good video. I still wish you had the Lo-hoe.
Kyle Moran thank you. I have a feeling I will make another lo-hoe within another 6 months. I sold the one in the video :(
Small correction. The starter uses 15mm
I have never had a 15. Every original starte bolt is a 13mm
@@TWAMotorsports huh. Interesting. Maybe it's because mine is a 1998
Must be. I have literally remove hundreds of ls starters and never had a 15mm bolt.

This video had so much potential but then you skipped over some crucial footage and showed the finished product of what you were doing.. Like the trans cooler install😔
Actually someone mentioned that so I made a separate video showing how I mounted and ran lines for trans cooler.
@@TWAMotorsports that's awesome, do you have a direct link? I feel like I've watched just about all your f body videos but I must have missed that one. Thanks for putting them up btw. I'm jelouse how you make the header install look so easy with the lift 😒lol
Nevermind I found it. I have the same Hayden 679 that's been sitting in a box for months along with new fluid and filter and I just haven't gotten a chance to change it all up. But No point right now since it's cold and my temps never get over like 150
