What you don’t see the years of hard work that goes into applying for tags, buying nice gear, and doing research on areas. You have a leg up being able to apply for youth tags so use it.
Ok that puts things in the right perspective. This kid just said all the right things you want to hear from the next generation that gets it. Way to go Brian and Ryan. James, Extra pack of waffles for both of them on next hunt.
Just keep doing your thing kid 👍, just hike with a heavy pack and increase the weight very slowly over time so once the day comes that you hunt you’ll be ready.

Holy cow I love to watch your hunts. There's so much information to take in and learn just by watching. My oldest daughter got drawn for a cow elk hunt this year in AZ and watching your hunts as a family gets us excited. I love how you show us the routes that you plan to take and the distance you have to cover and then go back and show us as your plan changes because conditions change. Adapt and overcome, such a great lesson in life.
My mama always said... "Sometimes its better to be lucky than good"! Not seeing those 2 bears come in will be the topic for years to come with the kids and grandkids but having it on video and being able to show them will be epic! Once again you guys are setting the bar in the outdoor video industry. I'm trying to take notes to help guide my first successful bear hunt. I originally thought that the "chooka"s were a new unit of measurement for distance. I then realized that it was predominantly used in verb form. Thank you guys for bringing us along again.
I am 73 and think the Gritty site has the best hunting videos I have ever seen. Wonderful country, content and quality. I am blessed to see them but at the same time I ache with disappointment that I will never see that country again.......except thru you. Many thanks to both of you. I am VERY appreciative.

Also wanted to let you know I really enjoy the graphics you put in the videos. Showing where bears, camp, etc are in relation to your location and showing your routes really immerses the viewer in the experience and makes us almost feel like we were part of the hunt. Good job.
It’s amazing how when adrenaline spikes, that blood is pumping or you’re getting fixated on something, that situational awareness goes right out the door, and more often that not, that’s when you need it the most! Awesome video. I love watching your videos or listening to the podcasts while I’m working out and dreaming of being on the mountain again! Keep it up and lets all keep our heads on a swivel!

This Hunt had my heart rate going. Absolutely awesome adventure. It’s pretty awesome to see seasoned veterans like yourselves still out there learning from the mountain. I know that sounds a little cliché, sometimes I feel like we look up to you guys as the gurus of the mountain. But it’s true the mountain has a lot to teach us. Every time we go out that’s for sure. I started watching this video Sunday night, but couldn't finish it. I just completed it 4 days later, and WOW! Unbelievable!! Truly unique footage showing just how wild the wilderness can be. How many times has something this happened to us before? Probably lots. I'm really enjoying this series, it's providing me much needed motivation to train and prepare for my elk hunts this fall. This video reminds me of an elk hunt with my dad. I was around 6 years old and we were on an old logging road. My dad was using the binos looking across a canyon while I was looking at the herd of elk that was running 60 yards below us. He was completely oblivious until I said," Are you looking at those big deer?" Two hours later he returned and I was freezing. Such a great memory and it was nice to relive that memory within your video. Much better ending with this video. You have such high quality videos and I cannot wait for more.
What an absolutely crazy ending to this video! I'm always wondering what's being missed when I'm out, but this just goes to show that even things that close can be missed! You guys could not script a better hunt! I actually feel the burn in my legs and the shortness of breath while watching you guys on the long trek to the bear sanctuary. The tension of watching the approaching bears and not knowing which one Ryan was going to shoot literally had me tense with anticipation. Well done, well done!

Oh my heart hurts that you didn't get Red Lightning. We had a similar big rust colored bear years ago on trail cams, but when you wait 12 years to draw a bear tag we weren't able to ever hunt him. You guys really get some of the best hunting footage out there in some of the craziest locations. Great work guys!

You know it's steep when your knee is touching the hillside! Yep, last week while scouting for mule deer in the CA Sierra Nevada mountains I was coming down a hillside and my but was hitting the ground behind me. I could have just slid down! Your ideal food hanging set up is spot on by the way. Backpacking as a kid, I found out by trial and error! And later I was fortunate enough to help set up many Yosemite backcountry food hanging cable systems.

So I don’t normally watch UA-cam hunting episodes more than once. I’ve watched this three times so far and freakin can’t wait between Sundays. Guys need to launch these earlier, as they are dangerously close to my bedtime but after I watch it I can’t sleep! Full of normal hunting “stuff” that happens. You guys amaze me when you go for it and hunt hard. Tip of the hat to you both.

I have often wondered how many White deer, Mule deer and Elk I never saw while hunting......You just confirmed it for me, A LOT. I love how you guys keep it real!!
To watch both those bears come right in to that call reminded me of my previous buck hunt. I had two bears come into 20 yards to get my downed buck. These moments may be crazy and nerve racking, BUT that’s what keeps all of us hunters going out. The unforgettable memories and experiences. Hunt on!
You almost died, the red bear was so close and coming fast. Ryan being nauseous over not getting the bear should be nauseous how close he came to being eaten by that bear. Great stuff, loved the break-in commentary.

I know that sounds a little cliché, sometimes I feel like we look up to you guys as the gurus of the mountain. But it’s true the mountain has a lot to teach us. Every time we go out that’s for sure. I started watching this video Sunday night, but couldn't finish it. I just completed it 4 days later, and WOW! Unbelievable!! Truly unique footage showing just how wild the wilderness can be. How many times has something this happened to us before? Probably lots. I'm really enjoying this series, it's providing me much needed motivation to train and prepare for my elk hunts this fall. This video reminds me of an elk hunt with my dad. I was around 6 years old and we were on an old logging road. My dad was using the binos looking across a canyon while I was looking at the herd of elk that was running 60 yards below us. He was completely oblivious until I said," Are you looking at those big deer?" Two hours later he returned and I was freezing. Such a great memory and it was nice to relive that memory within your video. Much better ending with this video. You have such high quality videos and I cannot wait for more.

What an absolutely crazy ending to this video! I'm always wondering what's being missed when I'm out, but this just goes to show that even things that close can be missed! You guys could not script a better hunt! I actually feel the burn in my legs and the shortness of breath while watching you guys on the long trek to the bear sanctuary. The tension of watching the approaching bears and not knowing which one Ryan was going to shoot literally had me tense with anticipation. Well done, well done!

I've lost count of the times I've stood up from a coyote stand to see the one that had sneaked in from behind booking it to the next county! Keep your head on a swivel, cover your six. Oh my heart hurts that you didn't get Red Lightning. We had a similar big rust colored bear years ago on trail cams, but when you wait 12 years to draw a bear tag we weren't able to ever hunt him. You guys really get some of the best hunting footage out there in some of the craziest locations. Great work guys!

You know it's steep when your knee is touching the hillside! Yep, last week while scouting for mule deer in the CA Sierra Nevada mountains I was coming down a hillside and my but was hitting the ground behind me. I could have just slid down! Your ideal food hanging set up is spot on by the way. Backpacking as a kid, I found out by trial and error! And later I was fortunate enough to help set up many Yosemite backcountry food hanging cable systems.

So I don’t normally watch UA-cam hunting episodes more than once. I’ve watched this three times so far and freakin can’t wait between Sundays. Guys need to launch these earlier, as they are dangerously close to my bedtime but after I watch it I can’t sleep!

I have often wondered how many White deer, Mule deer and Elk I never saw while hunting......You just confirmed it for me, A LOT. I love how you guys keep it real!!
To watch both those bears come right in to that call reminded me of my previous buck hunt. I had two bears come into 20 yards to get my downed buck. These moments may be crazy and nerve racking, BUT that’s what keeps all of us hunters going out. The unforgettable memories and experiences. Hunt on!

You almost died, the red bear was so close and coming fast. Ryan being nauseous over not getting the bear should be nauseous how close he came to being eaten by that bear. Great stuff, loved the break-in commentary.
