Whether you are being held captive, starving in a 3rd world country, homeless, have a flat tire, a broken phone, or were injected with HIV - your struggles are your struggles and they are hard for you. I've lived a long time comparing my struggles to others because I've suffered with a lot of trauma and mental illness and have been told that it's not as bad as starving or being homeless, etc... When the truth is, if it is bad to you, then it is bad. Don't ever feel the need to downplay your struggles or put them aside because someone else has it worse than you. Someone will always have it worse and someone will always have it better.

Had he not said he had AIDS it would be believable that he has undetectable HIV due to meds available now but if he had AIDS at 4 and now 30+ yrs old he would have been dead before he hit 6 yrs old

Once somebody gets to a very high number they are considered to have aids. However, once you start medication and the person is not resistance to the ART medication, the viral load begin to decline. After consistently taking the ART medication over time, the virus becomes dormant and cannot be measured through a lab test which means the patient is virally suppressed or undetectable. The virus affects everyone differently. I currently work as an accountant for the Ryan White Program in my city and I’ve seen clients revert to Undetectable from AIDS

So many ppl affected from little cousins to ppl like me who also had suicidal thoughts during my darkest depression. I can’t bear to think of a beautiful life lost and am so grateful to be here, mother of two, great relationship and a full time job but most of all happy! I was in the process of lossing my foot I was full of self pity. One day in the plastic surgeons office I saw a littlr boy burnt over 90 percent of his body he father put him in a car covered him in gas and set him on fire to get revenge on the mother. I have had 4th degree burns...I know how painful they are the donor sites are for grafts and this little boy was laughing, playing, adored his mom. From that moment on I asked "why NOT me?" nstead of "why me?". It really helped me when I eventually lost my leg. Saved my life.

The consequences of sin is sickness, and death. the father proved this as his actions are what gave the child the disease, not God. God did not take contaminated blood and deliberated injected the child, the father did. What God did was give the child hope for a better life, and the possibility of doing good in this fallen world. God also provided mankind with the choice to do good with the knowledge that mankind has developed, such as the treatments that the young man received that helped him to get strong again.

Unless the kid is in process of being adopted by new parents or steps, relinquishing rights doesnt negate child support.
Christy Ty that’s not how it works in America. If you have a child you are responsible for said child. His mother would have had to find another man and he would have to adopt him. Otherwise the family courts make the birth father pay child support. Men have no options when it comes to these decisions. Women can have an abortion to keep from the burden of an unwanted child. Men have no options, they are just told you pay up.

If he didn't want to pay child support *THAT* badly, why didn't he just sign over his parental rights? I think the sick father just wanted to kill him (probably to get at the mom) but thankfully didn't succeed.

I think everyone but Colin in this thread are confused. He said nothing about killing a child to avoid child support. He said that even if someone signs over their parental rights to the child, they still have to pay child support unless the parent with custody says they don't have to.

As far as his father, to think that he worked in the medical field is scary as hell. But for anybody,let alone, a parent to do such a thing to their child...their baby, is unimaginable and he's a disgrace of a man.
I'm confident that this strong and resilient man will have a child or children of his own. He's a great looking guy with an awesome outlook on everything including his story!
