I believe this is the Wltoys XK A160. The issue it has with its gyro and the associated "spiral of death" is well documented.

This is one of the better reviews I have seen on this little cub! I just purchased one and some of the other demos were just crazy all over the sky! I can tell you know how to fly - it shows! 👍
I hope that you don't have cause to regret those words when you start flying your new XK A160. The videos you were speaking of were of the first issued version of this plane - the 1 with no satellite sockets on the flight board that used the KN protocol and had the widely-acknowledged Auto-Crash programming glitch. Recent shippings of this plane now use a board that has the satellite sockets for DSM and S-bus receivers and changed programming that uses the V911S/E119 protocol. Hopefully it also does NOT have the Auto-Crash glitch still!
Even if that has been corrected, this plane is still WAY too heavy for its wing area and must be flown faster than normal for a "Trainer" and very gingerly in turns, particularly when turning down wind, or it will stall very easily on an unwary Noob. The plastic motor to prop adapter will be deformed in any nose-in and the subsequent out-of-balance propeller will vibrate the living daylights out of the stabilizer's gyros causing them to be overloaded and crashing the plane again!

This should be a really good first plane for someone who has some simulator time. Motion RC just keeps bringing it. James does a fantastic job, always enthusiastic and helpful. I know we've enjoyed watching his piloting skills progress. Keep doing what you do, it's all part of the reason motion rc has such a strong loyalty from so many customers around the world. 👍

@@MotionRC is motion ever going to look into or should have looked into having the company wiltoy fix the problem with the stabilization system that causes it to crash almost every flight that you're not high enough to recover from the spin caused by it? It's a shame that they couldn't be more honest during your flights and actually show your crashes and acknowledge the problem and that they may be trying to fix it!

@@MotionRC JAMES James James, we know you can't bad mouth the company that feeds you and yours, but as someone else has mentioned to you SO MANY other Honest Flyers/Reviewers have stated across the Internet that the plane has a real problem! I see Motion is still selling it and all the fake customer feedback praising it, mixed in with many of the BAD feedback remarks.
I think the company Motion and WItoy would benefit from being honest about the problem and offering an inexpensive replacement Rec./Controller for those owned and fixing any future planes before being shipped!
WLtoy has other planes they sell with stabilization systems why can't they use one of those to correct the problem??
YES, you are a very good pilot, and I think if you didn't have to stand behind the company you would probably admit to fellow flyers and to be flyers that the plane has a real problem!!!
I've only had mine about a month or so, (didn't see the reviews till after I got it) and I'm on my 15? or more Maidens and an equal amount of crashes and repairs and modifications trying and make it work! It flies great right up to the point that it DOESN'T!! Short of replacing the whole radio system (which some have done and it worked), I'm determined to make it fly, and you should talk with the higher up to try and get them to give up a little greed for happier Customers!

@@MotionRC Fine you have to stand behind the items you sell good or bad, but just a couple of corrections in your description of the systems, the High, Low rates don't change when in gyro/stabilization mode, only in 3D mode, Gyro has no effect in 3D. You leave/turn off the radio for "Motor Cut" when plugging in the battery, the plan beeps, waiting for the radio to be turned on and activate the system, and throttle.
Unfortunately most if not all Testers reviewers Flew and Crashed till they gave up and moved on to the plane for reviewing they were sent next for testing. But because I paid for mine as many have and gave up, I keep trying to work the problems out as I finally did today after many attempts/crashes/repairs/modifications managed to get a full 600mha battery (3 came with it) flight and controlled dead-stick landing at my feet, meaning anywhere I don't have to walk more than ten feet with my bad knees!

Too bad Motion wouldn't allow you to show the Gyro glitch that causes the crashing!!!! But as the next guy mentions it's well documented, as I'm attesting to also, mine has gone down 3 or 4 times already, just finished the repairs for the next attempt with some modes that I hope will help. When flown without the gyro helps! What is Motion going to do to fix the problems as long as you are selling them??

Hello guys listen been getting some bad reports and some of the reviews on this aircraft are not too good they're having problems with it especially with the rudder controls and it's not the receiver it's the plane.. can you tell us what's going on out here because I'm a beginner and I truly don't want to waste my money..????

Excellent review of this neat little plane. Subscribed! Two things I'd like to know: does it have a brushless motor? And, can I buy it as PNP and fly it with the programmable transmitter that came with my XK K110s helicopter?
I want to love this plane. But when I fly it with the gyro it just goes nose up and I can’t get it to Jose down. I’ve tried trimming the elevator but no difference. Any help? I’m wondering if I got a defective unit.

Nice video James. I look at this model when it first came out last fall. Due to some mixed reviews from other reviewers I decided to pass how do you account for successful flight when the other two had trouble with stalling and then crashing
I am not sure who the others were, but I don't see how someone whose already a competent, confident pilot would have trouble with this. It's a great aircraft for its size and price.
I am referring to a review by quadcopter 101 and by ground control RC they both had trouble and they are reviewers whom I watch quite a bit the gentleman from ground control RC posted several modification videos and upgraded the motor among other things as he felt the model was under power for its weight
@@jonmeyers523 Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with those channels, but upgrading the motor for a $100 trainer plane seems very excessive? This thing has all the power you could ever need or want in a small park flying J3 cub.
@@MotionRC I find it interesting that anyone purporting to have any expertise in what would suit a raw "beginner" to the world of RC flight (drones, helis, planes) does not know of the existence of Quadcopter101. Ground Control RC possibly (a small but excellent modder channel) but how about the RCSaylors, Albert Kim, Brian Phillips and Andrew Newton? All highly regarded reviewers in their niches in the market and ALL with 1 thing in common - they were unanimous that this beautiful looking plane has some serious problems and is in no way suitable for beginners!
Anyone considering purchasing this unit should check them out and also the RC Groups Forums thread on it. That's not to say that this CANNOT be flown successfully - it can if you know its many faults and are a skilled RC Pilot. But that hardly seems to me to describe a "beginner"! I don't know about you?

Mine came with a bad rudder servo and was much too tail heavy. I've been waiting several days for a response to my email to Motion RC. So far it's a waste of time and money for me.

Hello, how do I bind this plane with a Futaba tx?
Unless you have purchased the latest version with the flight board with sockets for satellite S-bus or DSM receivers then you cannot bind this to a stock Futaba transmitter. The initial protocol used (no sockets on board) was KN/WLToys.
The board with sockets used V911S/E119 stock protocol, I believe. I'm not aware of them ever fixing ALL of the bad board programming issues.

They must have changed the electronics.
That was the worst plane I ever bought. The gyro sucks and it is not a beginner plane. It death spirals the servos over travel and stick in place and the motherboards suck. Sorry guys but that’s my experience and I’ve a few different brand models and it’s the worst.

Get real dude and truck stop gasoline should be $1.25 a gallon right? Everything is increasing. In my area gasoline has jumped over 75 cents a gallon since Biden took office. Just an omen of things to come.
Hey bud, it's actually a very well built plane structurally strong takes a lot of beatings many many crashes trying to get this thing to work unfortunately I bought it a year after everybody did a review on it that I didn't see the reviews until after I bought it unfortunately but have been trying to get it to work and done many repairs modifications and got it working pretty good a couple times and then because of so many crashes things were out of alignment so bad that I couldn't get stay up but now I'm on my 47th drive trying to get it up there the electronics is what sucks the plane itself is very well made and does fly well when the electronics is cooperating too bad somebody can't get the electronics replaced and working! Without having to replace the whole radio system on your own if you wanted to spend that money?

@@rezdog311 The hole position wasn't the problem, it was the flight controller that would suddenly force and lock the rudder hard left and if you weren't high enough to recover you'd crash. But what I did was disconnect and lock the rudder straight and just flew it Aileron & Elivator worked great!

REALLY A Garbage thing only, Volantext or Eaching warbirds(P51D or F4U) is proposed.
How do you sleep at night knowing you are ruining the hopes of potential rc pilots that may buy this turd of a plane. This was my first 4ch airplane and it almost scared me away from ths hobby. We need to direct new pilots to airplanes that actually fly, not death spiral!
Sorry guy's if you want to learn to fly and learn about modeling stay away from foames. Join a club and do it properly. flying toys like this in you local park ONLY gives this great hobby a bad name HOPE YOU have B. M. F. A. INSURANCE and CAA. I'D REGESTRATION GUY'S.

Flying toys with staberliesers. You can't give your self credit as a flyer. Its like flying a G. P. S drone if you can push the sticks it flys. As Any real R/C PILOT will tell you. learn how to build a model understand aerodynamics. C OF G. YER AS HE SAID FLYING IN YOUR STREET IT'S THINGS LIKE THIS THAT GIVES REAL MODELERS. PROBLEMS. WITH (UK) CAA AND THE AMERICAN F. A. A.. STAY AT HOME AND BUILD AIRFIX MODELS. PLEASE. AND KEEP REAL AEROMODELERS SAFE.
