@@badalicemusic I waited 32yrs for my 1st Standard & it's an Appetite Burst from WildWood. If I knew then what I do now I would've been scoping out a 59' all along... or a few. My Slash LPS isn't going to look like that for a few years though. These seem like intense fan, once in a lifetime purchases... or Eastern Blue Suit wall hangers, lmao.
Funny thing is Slash is guitar wasn’t even a Gibson 😂
And where the arm wears the finish on the body? It should be a smooth finish from bare wood to paint and lacquer. Not chipped like is.

Once upon a time,a 1987 Led Paul Standard with a 3 piece top would be second rate. Not after it became famous through Slash.I bought my 87 Les Paul for $400 in 1989.

It was in need of some tlc
They just needed to be played. They were new guitars that were professionally aged to be exact replicas of the respected artists guitars. Those are made as limited runs from Gibson and are very expensive. Just wish he plugged them in.

either way it not uncommon to not want to show your serial # happens all the time
the guy down the block from him will be making the fake that evening.

When did Gibson use veneer and have a butt joint on the neck? That looks like a chibson. Top of the headstock looks correct by the back view but ya idk man. Just the first axe looked counterfeit
Slash snapped the neck of his Les Paul (more than once I think). This is an exact replica of that.

No it's not, it's just a replica of one of slash's main stage guitars that he has used since the late 80s
it's his first guitar Gibson sent him the one from sweet child o mine, 1988 Gibson les Paul Heritage cherry sun burst, the same yr he got Gibson to refinish it to make it look a little older, faded heritage cherry sunburst.
standard with Seymour Duncan APH-1 alnico ii pros way before he ever had his own custom pickup.

I dont get the idea of artificially aging and instrument. Whats the draw here, is it that they look old and vintage but are actually not, or does it make the buyer look like he/she's been playing it for a long time? Buy it new and play it yourself until it looks like this, then its earned, and its cheaper as well!

It ain't not different than somebody who wants a lighter lemon burst or a heritage Cherry Burst man, Don't commit suicide over it. It's just a matter of preference. 90 percent of the people who pay this kind of money for these guitars will NEVER take them out of the house so they spend a lot of time looking at them. Which is fine. They do whatever they want. You gotta stop being so basic. That's like telling you you can't have a girlfriend with tattoos. Just.... Seriously get the fuck over it.
I think there are two sides to the coin. On one side you have people who actually want a relic guitar to mirror the actual guitar Page uses/used, hang it on a wall somewhere, and admire it from a distance.. They can't afford his Real guitar but want something that is a copy for purely aesthetic purposes.
Then you have people like your boy Wizzle over here that will buy a reliced guitar because he thinks "its so just cool man".. He might not pass it off as an old Gibson but he'll certainly try and convince himself that it is. These people we call Posers.. They are not to be trusted or listened to . Their worthless opinions concerning music, guitars, and the artists that used them carry about as much weight as a bag of farts.
Relic Guitars are similar to rebuilding old Classic Vintage Cars like Jay Leno's collection. There's nothing wrong with nostalgia.
The page number 2 is a very nice guitar but the reality is page barely used that guitar and the way gibson marketed that guitar was kind of shameless. They said page used that guitar on countless recordings which is not true . It was a live backup guitar which he did not even own until after the 73 tour. It never appeared onstage until 75 and was only used for Kashmiri and part of dazed and confused. He would switch to number 2 beginning with the bow solo and even that was not every concert. In 19
77 it was pretty much only used for the noise solo . In reality his true number was his 1970 red les paul deluxe which was routed for humbuckers and was originally a gold top . That guitar has seem far more use than his number 2 59 has. But it's a pancake norlin lp deluxe which they could not charge as much money for compared to a replica of a 59 . In fact he has played his brown tele and blue strat more than the number 2 59 but yet gibson says countless classic zeppelin recordings were made with this guitar . The push pull pots and switches were not even installed in this guitar until after led zeppelin broke up but people keep buying the page 21 tone wiring harness in an attempt to chase page tone when the the fancy wiring and switches coil splits and out or phase tones can be found on exactly zero zeppelin recordings. It is a great guitar though . It's an R9 with a shaved neck and fancy switches.
Adam Watson were did you get this load of B's ?, JP's#1,#2les paauls we're re wired by mr.hoyland awhile back #1, he bought from Joe walse early on after a3pickup 59'black beauty was stolen on tour.he used to photo ad trying to get it back in rolling Stone thru the 70's.that guitar was a gift from another wicked guitar ,mandolinist named Albert lee.emmy Lou's hot band. Brian lemasters.
