It's good yet seasons 1 and 2 are even better and older! It was a shame that Rory O'Donoghue wasn't a part of this third season for the music track beyond the intro clip.
There's a great song by Aussie folk rock band Weddings, Parties, Anything called A Tale They Won't Believe that taught me this story in 1990. Went on a visit to Sarah Island on my honeymoon. Bush Tucker Man was my childhood hero in a time when 'media' was newspapers, the ABC and one or, depending on signal, 2 local commercial tv stations. Thanks for upload ABC 👍
3 seasons with Les Hiddins as The Bush Tucker Man was simply… criminal. I’d LOVE a 4th season more akin to season 1! Just a relaxed adventure with tips and tricks.
Who was treated worse by the British, the indigenous or the convicts. They were tough times and tough people but they got things done. We should all be grateful for the hardships they endured to build a nation and be thankful that we can now leave those days behind.
I really enjoy your presentations Les but it often strikes me that you frequently talk about the British people having done something quite brutal and I’m sure that I won’t be the only British person to appreciate it if you could occasionally acknowledge that it wasn’t the British people but was on the orders of the British government whom most of the British people could not elect.
I will also add,as a fellow Brit, that the Australians own treatment of the Aborigines is not much better than how the Brits treated them either. Great show though and really love rewatching it so many years later. Just as a caveat,my ancestors were just as likely to be Irish at this stage too.
Very interesting, after seen the movie "Van Diemens Land" i look all the videos about Alexander Pearce. Just note, we don´t have to forget that in does times, a British jail was much worst then the Tasmanian prisoner camp. Big cities in England were stinky, dirty, epidemic, high criminality. So, in a certain way, the prisoners had a lesser worst treatment comparing. Greetings from Spain.
They made one convict lash another. If it wasn't good enough, they would be lashed. Most lashings in one year in the British Empire. What a record to have. Not good on ya Tassie.
good show in its day Malcom douglas spent too much time getting out of bogs :) Remembers Joh Bjelke - Petersen Your wrong wrong wrong Yana it all lies i got something to fix that - what wud that be Joh? Mumbles something aboutbeen pegged to a Bullantz nest on a 38c day wearing only a bikini :) - Fast forward show>> :)
The editing, cinematography and stage presence of Les make this an excellent show even decades later. Australia is so incredibly interesting.

Every episode is a huge hit of nostalgia. Thanks ABC and Les!
Remember when the ABC made shows like this... not the woketard agenda spewing garbage of today.
That's a bloody grim tale, hey?
Best show ever, I reckon!
i wish more were made of the Bush Tucker Man, Les is a Fantastic presenter.
Awesome to see these old episodes. Thanks Aunty and thanks Les.
Absolutely love watching the awesome Bush tucker man his knowledge is amazing 👏 😀
Superb, brilliant Les! Thanks mate
As an ex digger I never get tired of watching Les. He makes the new survival shows look so amateurish.. Thanks for sharing
Love re watching all these. I remember watching the DVD "Van Diemen's Land" years ago which was about this.
I first read about his story in Philip Hughes' book 'The fatal shore'. I never get tired of hearing it!

Thank you for uploading another one 😊
Back when the ABC was watchable. Thanks Les
Jack Absalom also had an episode on this island. I absolutely love his TV series. I wish he'd made more.
Fantastic piece of history rarely told. Thankyou Aunty
Love it. Thank you.
Nothing like having a wild party and, as the good Doctor said, "having a friend for dinner'. 😱

RIP Richard Davey. Legend of Tasmania’s West Coast.

It's very modern for something that came out in 1996.

Outstanding content.
I always loved his hat, 🤠,,never seen anything like it!👍🏻🙂
I now live in Tasmania and have visited Sarah island also Port Arthur
"I stood on Sarah Island, and I saw the gates of Hell, where nine brave ships, and many a soul, had heard the last watch bell".
one of my favourite convict songs.
20 mins and 33 secs thought it was the cameraman lol.
And that cheeky grin on his face. 🤣

Being British myself. Yes best you leave those days behind.
Great story
So he eats everyone on the first escape attempt. And in his second, still manages to convince some other poor bugger to go with him?
Beautiful Tassie 🇦🇺❤️

"No man can tell what he will do when driven by hunger"!
You reckon Les returned his glass or legged it into the bush?

Yuk.
This is not the channel I'm watching 0l
I wonder if reparations have ever been sought by relatives for the English sending petty criminals to Tas and Australia simply as slaves?
Goose
How are you talking to a Tasmanian aboriginal
They are all dead?
So they aren't dead?
Or they are?
What is it?
