I live in Blackpool, and it was really nice that you were able to end this video on a note of optimism, as opposed to the negativity that's normally poured onto the place. Thanks for that. It's very much appreciated.
I bought an old hotel in Blackpool and turned it into a large family home. The kids have a play room as well as their own bedrooms that are big. An office for my husband as he works from home. A spare room for the family to visit I have an art room for painting a very large sitting room the best thing I did. I wouldn't be able to do this down in Folkestone out of my price range.
I'm planning on doing the same, but in Scarborough. (Blackpool is too flat for me!) Blended family, 6 kids, currently split across two properties in Leeds. No chance of affording anything big enough for all of us here (plus the crime / violence is starting to really scare me) but the east coast is a different matter altogether. I love old period houses and seaside towns are invariably full of them. And what kid doesn't want to grow up by the beach?😮
I live in Folkestone and the prices of the new apartments on the beach are crazy. The penthouse is £2.3 million and there seems to be plenty of takers for the places. The fishermans beach apartments in Hythe sold two years ago for £1.3 million there seems to be a lot of money coming in from London.
@@justmrpat even just a house you are looking at 300k min up here in Blackpool that would get you a huge place. For use as a family as my husband can do homework it made more financial sense to move to Blackpool and not have a huge mortgage.

Man the nights out we had here in the late 80's early 90's were the things memories are made of. Sasha every week at Jenks on the prom. To be a young man again.
In the 80s me and my construction working mates would have great weekends in Blackpool we worked in London young Irish lads out for adventure and the ladies. Damn that’s a earner that property if I was younger richer I’d buy it.😊
Beware, those memories were great but its a shithole now. Went last year. More fortune teller tents than street bins, and the nicest place for a pint or food is a wetherspoons. Every 2nd shop sold sweets or rock. We drove to Whitby in the end.
The thing I love about these videos is all the warm and friendly people you end up running into. It's a good reminder that there are still plenty of great people around despite what you might think from the news. Thank you!
I would agree, I found this when I lived in Cornwall, 90% of people acknowledged your existence even if you didn't know them, added to which M. Wandering Turnip is an unpretentious person is has a good heart and I just cannot fault him for anything.
People usually respond to being warm and friendly if you are warm and friendly to them. If they are not, it is obvious but usually they are. All you have to do is show and interest in someone and be genuine and they usually respond the same way. This fella shows this poetry in motion.
The digital nomad hotel is absolutely incredible! It's lovely to see he's kept the features from the 80s like the bannisters and panelling and still managed to make it look new and revitalised. I lived in Preesall, Over Wyre, for about half a decade and have a lot of fond memories of days out in Blackpool as a result. If they keep adding features like the comedy carpet and there are enough people willing to invest time, energy and love into the impressive old buildings, it could be a really lovely place again. I hope one day it manages to escape the seaside summer tourism trap it's fallen into and more job opportunities are generated for people there. Brand new to this channel and so excited to see what's to come. ✨
The guy with the 15 bed at the end is wild to me. As someone who obviously works online, the first thing I check at hotels is the internet speed. But I've never thought that people would be setting up a hotel SPECIFICALLY for it. It's crazy to think that it's bloomed to be such a wide ranging profession that entire hotels are setting up just to cater to it.
I love Blackpool. When I moved from Melbourne, Australia to the UK 🇬🇧 in 2022 I spent the first 2 weeks in Blackpool. I loved this place. Such an awesome town of contrast , pleasure beach , dingy back lane ways, beautiful sunsets, boarded up houses, bright lights & late nights… great video mate, absolutely loving the content! I’m now living in Manchester and always drive up to Blackpool to spend a day.
What a change moving from Melbourne to Manchester. I've been to both cities and, aside from both being English-speaking, they're quite different. Melbourne is so chic, modern, and gorgeous.
New beginning. I invest in Blackpool and I’m looking to continue doing so. There’s a lot of potential, and like you said. ‘Instead of building new grand hotels, you need people that are going to restore the old ones.’
Renovation is the most expensive kind of construction to perform. What is most cost efficient is to keep up on maintenance, so you don't have to rennovate. That said, concrete only has a lifespan of about 120 years at most, so at some point a cement foundation is going to give way and crumble.
As a tip if you take some vasaline and add a little essential oil like eucalyptus or lavender or similar, put a bit under the nose like vapour rub, it will help block the smell, morticians and undertakers use this trick sometimes.
Being Bulgarian, I intentionally watched this video and was very curious to learn more about it after recently hearing a brief interview with 2 Brit youngsters that visited Sunny Beach this year and referring it as "it's just like a warmer Blackpool". I think I understand what they meant because I never have imagined that Britain had its own proper cool Sunny Beach! 😁 I have only been to London twice and we hopped to Briton for 1 days in June and was freezing and know nothing about Blackpool!! The digital nomad place is amazing and wish the gentleman all the best with his business. Very cool, informative and enjoyable video and love the accent 😊
As someone who is looking into being a digital nomad, Duncan's hotel is right up my alley. It's good that you showed the derelict housing but ending the video with what happens after the restoration ❤
Hi Turnip.I have no doubt Blackpool will no doubt see a renaissance in years to come. Like you, I have always had a great passion for the old towns of the north that have fallen on bad times for one reason or another. I am sure the reasons for the decline in Blackpool are very complex, but on my last visit this year I was shocked by the amount of anti social behaviour and the dirtiness of the place. It’s not the most attractive place to bring my 3 year old and that is such a shame as there is so much on offer for families. Let’s hope things get better before they get worse
I disagree. Its very reason for existence has gone. Cheap flights have taken its trade. Plus the local government has made no effort to sort out the drugs problem. Who wants to visit a place surrounded by junkies?
The largest source of business and employment in China is Mining, Oil and Gas. The largest source of business and employment in the UK is THE NHS, Sainsburys and Tesco. The poor souls that are "junkies" have at one point become "customers" of both and not in a good way. Anyone who had a heart could see that. So what they want to kill themselves with drugs when their lives are a living hell? Well maybe we can make the life not such a living hell how about that? No one would really use the word "junkie" if they had someone in their family with a problem. They are not all "choosing this lifestyle" or "those people over there". Recognise your brothers. Yes some people are beyond the pale and too far gone; but some only need a hand and only get one when its to push them over. Try it. Lend a hand. At least this guy is trying to bring hope.@@benbeasant3443
the guy who turned the 18 bed guest house into a digital nomad space. i bet people look at him and don't see much, but he's a visionary. also, that Jordan guy has his head on well, too. a few people like these can really change a town's fortunes. i had looked at some small hotels in northern Spain a few years ago for something similar. i've found a few locations, but i really want to find something special. recently saw an old monastery that could be a good candidate. the thing is, you won't become rich, but it's a shame to just let these buildings go, isn't it? i'd rather subsist in an old building then be cozy in a new cookie cutter box house.
Idk there’s definitely money in this stuff if you get it right. If you could turn a decent profit on 4 or 5 of these hotels you could live pretty well.
Too much short term thinking is holding the whole country back. My grandfather bought several houses after the war as part of his retirement plan. He renovated them in his spare time (he owned a successful shop in the town centre) and rented them out. He didn't make much profit, but maintained and improved them as much as he could. 30 years later, the houses he bought for a few hundred pounds sold for five figure sums each, I remember he had to pay a large sum in Capital Gains Tax on the profit. Just as importantly, several families had secure and well maintained homes for decades
@user-bg2qe6fj2u But you still need the money to buy the property, the tools to do the work, and the materials. That's a pretty penny, even if you are a knowledgeable, skilled and experienced builder / electrician / plumber
@@wanderingturnip Hope so, David.. They both seem like great guys who are moving forward with the times!👍 These northern towns like Blackpool and Scarborough (and Skeggy) hold so many happy memories for me.. memories you bring back to mind with these vlogs! 👏
Blackpool on a sunny day is a good place. It is full of memories of our childhoods. That digital nomad house was brilliant. I would never have thought of that for that town.
I love blackpool, mostly for the childhood nostalgia it brings back while Im there, even the bitter autumn breezes are part of that feeling. Shame to see what's happening to the town. It might be me being naive but I believe as long as they have the pleasure beach, the tower, illuminations and other unique attractions there, the town wont be dying. Just gotta hope they doing do a deal with Noel Edmonds to open a new Blobbyland there
Another brilliant video. You have a wonderful way of getting people to talk to you. Towns like Blackpool need people like Jordan, who has faith and hope for the future, and Duncan has seen an opportunity coming out of Covid i.e. people working away from an office. Absolutely brilliant idea. Maybe Blackpool will never again be the holiday destination it once was (better weather in Europe, places like Dubai within easy reach) so maybe reinvent itself. I've said it before - it's better to renovate existing houses where there is existing infrastructure, rather than building rubbish new houses on green belt land.
Jordan is doing a splendid job, much better to restore the fine buildings than shove up substandard ones' in their place, good luck to him and those who think like him.
I went there in the early-ish 1990's, and I couldn't believe how busy it was. I hope it makes a comeback, the beach is awesome, the countryside is too, lovely place in its day.
Stayed there in an oldstyle hotel, only one road back from the beach for a week, every apartment below us was broken into and robbed during our stay, it's definitely a bit of a cheap/fun night out, but there are day zombies walking around everywhere so not the nicest place in the day, the actual city is definitely not livable yet, makes sense that you can buy property for a great price
Agreed, it's a horrible place. Full of spiceheads and druggies, like something out of the Walking Dead. I'm sorry but I wouldn't have a house there given to me. I'm hoping to move to Scarborough, another seaside town that's maybe seen better days, but the difference is that at least it's attractive and it's also full of greenery, parks, gardens and trees - all of which seem to be missing from Blackpool. The seafront is bleak and windswept and I get the impression that if you hang around too long you'll end up being started on by someone in a tracksuit. No thanks.
I'm not a builder. I was a trainee bricklayer and labourer, but i highly doubt the subsidence of that house could be fixed, especially as it is also attached to another home. I've seen houses pulled down to this very issue.
Finally found the comment I was looking for. And London clever geezer who says 120 year old house ain't going nowhere. Blackpool might have an interesting future.
@@johnniethepom7545Yup you are right. Mine was underpinned and I'm in the center of a row. We all got underpinned together. Only took a few days if that. Big machinery though but cost us each about 20k. Ours had to be future proofed from earthquakes and subsidence due to liquefacation. House no longer feels sea sick, completely solid feeling. Immediately remedies doors and windows but of course touchups are needed. We all had new underhouse insulation which was only about 2k each. Its worth it and should give the house a very long life. We all had new heatpumps installed also (government subsidized was 5k for 5.5kw including insulation.) Clearly that place would need plumbing and modern wiring. After that decorating.
Blackpool has had such a low reputation for a while now so one of its main struggles will be improving people's views of the town, but I think there's a lot of potentially the beautiful architecture and the beach really will help it as it hopefully becomes a much nicer place
If artists and musicians could move in and s l o w l y begin to bring the town to life, people will come back. If this is truly a holiday town, you have to make people WANT to visit there. If they can hop a cheap flight on Ryan Air and get to another warm country cheaper than they can stay in their own city, that is what they're going to do.
Yep, the value is incredible. They're blessed with a nice location, cheap real estate, a good tram network, proximity to Manchester, and a decent amount of tourism. I went to Pleasure Beach about a year ago and I was very pleasantly surprised how nice the surrounding residential areas were. There's still plenty of grotty areas that need regeneration but I think that will come with time.
I struggle to see how Blackpool could ever regenerate. There just aren’t enough births to open schools, which is what drives a healthy society. To get young families to the area it needs to be safe. The police would need a major revamp & tools to tackle drug and alcoholism. Much easier just to focus on Lytham st Anne’s and hope it trickles out eventually. Double down on the already salvageable area.
David your enthusiasm is amazing , you love what you do and showing us all the good the bad and sometimes ugly aspects of our country ,i think Jordan is on the right track with his couples only idea and more people these days drink cocktails ,i hope hes successfull in all he does ,Duncan on the other hand is doing something ive never heard of ,i just hope his guests /tenants look after the place well and he will be able hopefully to open another place for digital nomads ,best of luck to both guys and thanks again for yet another great video .
At 18:00 the street there even in the 1980s/90s was a vibrant street full of individual nice looking guest houses. Trams actually traveled through the street and into the depot it was the side entrance bricked up and removed in the 1960s. The tracks are still in the road covered with tarmac rather than being removed.
I found your channel last night and binged on your exploration and commentary. I find you and your content incredibly fascinating. Wow! I live in Charleston, SC here in the US. There are parallels of your content and the gentrification of our city is experiencing. Looking forward to more! Cheers!
@@wanderingturnip You should come to Charleston. Lots of stuff to see here, and some of it relates to your POV. It's not "declining", however, but some people are being displaced in the name of progress (money).
Southport is similar, and worth a look, not the place it used to be, once said to be the Cheltenham of the North, but still miles better than Blackpool, however Southport has a couple of suburbs a mile or so South of the town centre, Birkdale and Ainsdale that are very up market@@wanderingturnip
My partner used to work for ReBlackpool back in the mid-noughties before she moved to London. She said that they had always hoped that the initial renovation of the seafront would trigger further renovation of the city. But then the 2008 crash happened. And then you had austerity. So it just never materialised.
Anyone else think of the tv show 'SeaView' watching this? So sad, we went to Blackpool in the eighties from Ireland and it was mesmerising driving round the streets with all the B&Bs lit up and streets buzzing. I never, ever imagined it would be any different. 😥. How funny how times seem to change in an instant and you're so not ready for it.
Great video, well done to the 2 men who showed you around their properties. Stephen Cheatley of A Walk on the Wildside have done a similar video to this where he found a guy that wanted to buy old hotels and turn then into holiday apartments but Blackpool Council is making it very difficult for him to to it.
I love Blackpool and am one of its biggest fans. We visit from Newcastle so many times a year, I just love the place and am always looking online for a summer home there. Fab video as alway. Cheers.
It's infuriating to hear people droning on "we need to build more houses, dig up the Green Belt", when there are hundreds of empty houses in my own market town. A listed Grade II former chapel is being renovated to create offices, while my own family Chapel, a short walk away is now flats. My grandfather bought and renovated former worker's cottages and rented them out in the 50's and 60's. I can't understand why all those beautiful houses are standing empty and derelict while agricultural land is being built on. Makes zero sense to me
I’m sympathetic to this but take issue re: agricultural land. The green belt has doubled in size - it’s disingenuous to suggest it’s all green and pleasant agricultural land when a surprising amount is grotty but ‘politically sensitive’ scrub. The chronic mismanagement - some would say petty corruption - of many of our market towns also means those homes are empty for a reason: no jobs, poor transport infrastructure to get to where the jobs actually are, higher rates of crime on average, malinvestment and fewer young businesses. It’s a vicious cycle I see in my own town in the midlands.
We bought a 9 bedrms guesthouse in auction For £56k and spend £30k renovation now its open now as guesthouse next to pleasure beach it is soo busy because of location but i dont have a morgage.not only i live there but make a bit of money too.
It might be a good time to invest in Blackpool. DWP is moving 3000 civil service employees there and there’s a new University being built. Place is probably going to be a lot different in 5 - 10 years time.
They are moving from another site in Blackpool, bit into the centre, the aim to to increase footfall in the centre to have a thriving centre, as well as the obvious benefits of a 'multiversity'. But yes it's changing and on the up with lots happening.
The wonky house that has subsided would need underpinning (huge rods that go far into the ground) and protect from subsidence. It can immediately remedy wonky stuff and annoy others. But overall once level the doors etc will be way better. I live in Christchurch NZ, and we had to do this to thousands of homes (cost me 20k just for that) and it only took a few days. Big machinery though. Bitndefiantely the house felt way better inside, no sea sickness etc. Its worth it. And protects from anyfurther subsidence. We have quakes so has to be good.
This was just the tonic I needed. 🙏 After watching so many UA-cam channels on what is happening over in London. The war in Israel etc 😢 This was incredibly interesting & entertaining Yeah Yeah 😂🐨🐨🦘
I found you channel on your third video and watched ever since...love the viewer interaction.I live in Margate which is a polar opposite of a seaside town,15years ago heading like Blackpool now property prices are booming....there's hope yet
I started to watch this video expecting to see the exact people who have chronically contributed to the downfall of Blackpool i.e. landlords buying up old properties to turn them into massive HMO for the under-privileged in society and I was pleasantly surprised. Full respect to the two guys for the hotel refurb and the new DN venture. This old hotels and houses deserve a second or third life. I spent most of my family holidays in Blackpool in the 70s and it was a world away from what it is now. Would I spend more than a day there now? No way. It will take time and the reason it's so cheap is the lack of jobs and a low-skilled workforce, maybe this will change once the 'Multiversity' is built.
Interesting to see something new and different hotel wise. Go back in a year and see if its changed even more. Just need new ideas in these old holiday places.
I've often wondered if there was any potential left in Blackpool. All the videos and shows I have seen made it appear as if it would take many decades to make a comeback. Glad to see there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. If I ever make it to the U.K. I always thought a weekend in Blackpool would be a blast.
I really admire your endless enthusiasm for everything you do. When you are talking about stuff like the industrial revolution in your other videos, you sound just like the sort of person who would be narrating on terrestrial TV, kind of like a young Fred Dibnah with your delivery.
Blackpool used to be the place we would visit for Christmas every year, we stayed in The Cliffs hotel, the same people would be there every Christmas too, these people lived all over the UK so it was like a yearly reunion. So I have some really great memories there.
So sad to see Blackpool on it’s knees the day trips of my childhood go on a charabang from Halifax day going on the beach and on the piers then through the illuminations too sad to see now… but thanks for doing these types of blogs I love them
Hi Swede. Duncan and his digital nomads, ( I didn't know there was such a thing) Well done Duncan, as he was showing you around I saw, a fire alarm button and fire extinguisher. That's says he's doing the right thing. On the subject of safety, I didn't see your boots, and picking up a bottle with out gloves. Sorry to be telling you off, but I'm old enough to be your mother. Near the start of the video I saw a white building in the background, it looked in the style of art decco, would have been interesting to see if it was. I feel sorry for the decent people of Blackpool, next time you visit go in summer and see if there s a different feel to the place. Another excellent video Swede, Cheers Millysue
i bought ,renovated and flipped loads of basket case properties in the 90s ,all purchased at auction and all sold to people with mortgages(ironic as the banks wouldnt lend me money in the first place) for a massive profit ,im in me 60s now and very comfortable ,if you have a bit of cash do not be put off by the naysayers and half empties ,get something bought do it up and flip it then buy another you will not regret it.
Interesting video. Theres tons of improvements and investment happening in Blackpool. The newer hotels are aiming for a different market, people who will bring more money and like a bit more luxury. The town centre is doing far better than most towns and will only get better with the dwp office, multiversity in the centre, to not only improve footfall and have a thriving town centre, but with the multiversity, to make life better for residents and try and stop young people leaving only to be replaced by other towns idiots. Add to that, Blackpool central, where that big car park had been built just off central drive, that'll bring tourists in all year round and it's also been busy recently with lightpool and the illuminations, also more conferences at the winter gardens will bring people. Those shuttered shops on central drive will be transformed on the side of the car park and the other side too wehn the development is finished, as itll be ideal for food outlets etc with the increased footfall. Not sure what that guy was on about in the last video, saying that other bit will be transformed and it wasnt. There's loads happening and it all adds up to trying to improve things and stop the cycle of deprivation by making it a better place for all. The whole of central drive is set for redevelopment at some point, near the football stadium too. Bit by bit it's happening and investment is really coming in. Blackpool has its big issues but also has the upsides to counter that, where many places have many of the same issues, but little of the upsides and beautiful coast. It's on the up. One last thing to remember is Blackpool has a town centre and many miles of front and back streets just off the front to try and make nice for millions of people, it's a hell of a big area. So in many ways it's a bit unfairly judged, as if you went off into a random towns backstreets miles from the centre you'd see all sorts, most are unlikely to venture out of the centre of somewhere else
I agree. Blackpool has several regeneration programmes in progress or about to start. It is an unfair reflection of the progress and ongoing development in the town.
Live not too far from Blackpool been going all my long life , I take my grandkids often as well . I’ve seen it deteriorate over the years for various reasons . It is good to see the good put bk in the area , it’s a start as Blackpool is rich in history and a beautiful town . Get it back to its former glory 👌
Absolute Crackin video nice of the two lads and give you a nice honest rundown of their properties good luck to them, I have just stumbled across your Chanel I will look at your other stuff.
Well done David, another great, informative article. That place of Duncan’s is amazing, he has done so well with it. It’s mad with the cost of it, so cheap. I would love to stay in a traditional B & B, in an old style place, rather than a hotel that is flashy. Kung Fu Sue
One year ago i moved to Great Yarmouth because we wanted a place of our own that was big enough for a family. A house that would cost 1 million in London would sell for sub 200k over here so we grabbed the opportunity. Once you look past the general unappealing "aesthetic" of seaside towns its honestly a wonderfully peaceful and well connected city.
As a semi-local, the council are buying up these big buildings and surround areas, purposely sitting on them for years until they acquire enough of the buildings/area to regenerate. Currently in Blackpool centre mainly Cookson Street & Talbot Road area there is a massive regeneration project underway. I believe once that has been done the promenade will start.
Cookson Street and Talbot Road have already changed massively from what they were in the 2000s, and by 2030, they will have changed further. The Council have been quite smart in not building lots more retail space, and instead in Talbot Gateway, they're building offices and educational facilities.
Issue is it so expensive to fix them. Like cars I guess, fixing a Toyota is cheap, a Rolls Royce and it can cost more than the car is worth. Buying one of those hotels for £50k is great but then what. Watch as replacing the windows alone will cost like £10,000s again. Other doing up etc and you will be looking at £150-£200k IMO. Sure if you know what you are doing you can do stuff cheaper but still it suddenly becomes a lot less cheap. A lot of cheaper American homes you seem to be able to fix up for nothing.
It's sad there are ao many houses rotting away, especially with the housing shortage. Good to see the council doing up those houses, and doing a nice job. Reviving those streets will be good for Blackpool in the long run. And good to see Jordan and Stewart Lee getting businesses off the ground. But the town is not in a good state.
There are folks that inject foam concrete into the slab foundations of subsided homes, and apparently that works. If it's been built on stumps, it will need restumping. Houses built on sand can have that problem, the sand compacts and moves.

I’m now living in Manchester and always drive up to Blackpool to spend a day.
Why wet Manchester but I like the city but it rains way too much because it's very close too the wettest place in Britain in the Pennines
Get yourself to the lake district mate see the real beauty
Uk is a giant dump whon earth did you move here you are nuts
Must be mad leaving Australia for third world Britain
Haha that’s a great shout
Blackpool is.s.......t mate Brighton is better
In British humour, they meant that it is because both places are similar in being a shit hole 😂
@@MrSBGames Brighton has warmer weather and a nude beach.
Cornwall is still an active destination for UK beach holidays
I've lived in Bulgaria,Blackpool is your Sunny Beach, eith less drugs.
You didn't give any reasons why you have no doubt Blackpool will have a renaissance?

Last guy is a certified legend for sure! Great ideas coming from him! Another amazing video!
I agree
Ten minutes away from the town center is lovely. Thornton cleveleys and Lytham ect are stunning 😊😊
the guy who turned the 18 bed guest house into a digital nomad space. i bet people look at him and don't see much, but he's a visionary. also, that Jordan guy has his head on well, too. a few people like these can really change a town's fortunes. i had looked at some small hotels in northern Spain a few years ago for something similar. i've found a few locations, but i really want to find something special. recently saw an old monastery that could be a good candidate. the thing is, you won't become rich, but it's a shame to just let these buildings go, isn't it? i'd rather subsist in an old building then be cozy in a new cookie cutter box house.
Yay! The Turnip's buzzin! 🐝🤗 Loved this vid..
Unexpectedly meeting up with Jordan and Duncan brought extra interest to an already engaging vlog.. 👍
And that drone footage over the sea and pier is outstanding! 👏
Hopefully going to do more videos with Jordan and Duncan, they are ace 👍👍
@@wanderingturnip Hope so, David.. They both seem like great guys who are moving forward with the times!👍 These northern towns like Blackpool and Scarborough (and Skeggy) hold so many happy memories for me.. memories you bring back to mind with these vlogs! 👏
Blackpool on a sunny day is a good place. It is full of memories of our childhoods.
That digital nomad house was brilliant. I would never have thought of that for that town.
Ace idea isn’t it. Do check out Duncan’s channel with his vids of doing it up
Look at the overseas guy with the Liverpool top on. He can work in Blackpool and see Liverpool and Manchester....
I agree with you about the bar it’s fantastic needs to be kept
What is great about your videos is your enthusiasm
Hey thanks for watching 😀
Yeah I think you are right. I just cannot figure out how it would be done with just knocking it done and staring again 😂
Under pinning .
Glad to meet you mate! Appreciate the shoutout
Legend mate 👏👏
We ❤ this channel! Thanks very much for showing us. Cheers.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks so much for watching
I think Blackpool has potential, might take a few decades though. I can see it becoming like Brighton is to London, but for Manchester
Yeah for sure. The property I see at the end changed my mind, such good value
Manchester is a over hyped dump so I very much doubt it being the saviour of Blackpool.
@@mramg6038I'm not trying to be horrible, but it seems that a lot of the local residents have given up. A town is what it's people make of it.

Appreciate that a lot thanks 😊
At 18:00 the street there even in the 1980s/90s was a vibrant street full of individual nice looking guest houses. Trams actually traveled through the street and into the depot it was the side entrance bricked up and removed in the 1960s. The tracks are still in the road covered with tarmac rather than being removed.
Another great video! Never heard of digital nomads before, that’s so cool!
So glad to see people redoing the old building rather than building new ❤
It's great to get an optimistic take on Blackpool, and to see people making something of it. You're right: there's loads of potential. Great stuff.
I found your channel last night and binged on your exploration and commentary. I find you and your content incredibly fascinating. Wow! I live in Charleston, SC here in the US. There are parallels of your content and the gentrification of our city is experiencing. Looking forward to more! Cheers!

Thank you for another great vlog

Great video, well done to the 2 men who showed you around their properties. Stephen Cheatley of A Walk on the Wildside have done a similar video to this where he found a guy that wanted to buy old hotels and turn then into holiday apartments but Blackpool Council is making it very difficult for him to to it.
Had many a great day out there as a kid. I hope it recreates it's former glory with a nice new touch.
9:34 _"Come back in a year and it all will have changed.."_
Well, at least they'd put some extra seating in the garden.. 🙃
It's nice to see something unexpectedly positive and hopeful!
This was just the tonic I needed. 🙏 After watching so many UA-cam channels on what is happening over in London. The war in Israel etc 😢 This was incredibly interesting & entertaining Yeah Yeah 😂🐨🐨🦘
Brilliant Blackpool vid!
Not seen a better one since Alan Bradley got hit by a tram chasing after Rita.
Best of luck, Duncan!
Really great episode dude, wasnt expecting it to turn out so uplifting :)

The 18-room hotel looked amazing!
Sadly it would only take another financial crisis or a pandemic to destroy all the hard work again.
I really admire your endless enthusiasm for everything you do. When you are talking about stuff like the industrial revolution in your other videos, you sound just like the sort of person who would be narrating on terrestrial TV, kind of like a young Fred Dibnah with your delivery.

Nice to see something positive in Blackpool since the big hotel fires lately.
Very interesting video, never knew Lytham St Annes was 2 places! The guy from Lytham was quality :)
i bought ,renovated and flipped loads of basket case properties in the 90s ,all purchased at auction and all sold to people with mortgages(ironic as the banks wouldnt lend me money in the first place) for a massive profit ,im in me 60s now and very comfortable ,if you have a bit of cash do not be put off by the naysayers and half empties ,get something bought do it up and flip it then buy another you will not regret it.
You could buy a house for less than a bag of old chips in the 80s and 90s.
Duncan is a very savvy man. Good that he didn’t take notice of his sister . Well done Duncan ❤

Well done David, another great, informative article. That place of Duncan’s is amazing, he has done so well with it. It’s mad with the cost of it, so cheap. I would love to stay in a traditional B & B, in an old style place, rather than a hotel that is flashy. Kung Fu Sue
Love that cockney guy. Seen the potential and made the most of it. What a lad
First! I like that you have the jumper version of your jacket.
Haha glad someone noticed that
Brilliant to see some of those old hotels getting renovated.. 😊 thanks for sharing this 👍
One year ago i moved to Great Yarmouth because we wanted a place of our own that was big enough for a family.
I go to seaside towns local to me with my kids. They love them. But I have to take them up north too. Smashing 🎉
Absolutely love blackpool well done promoting it
I wish I was British ....I would definitively buy a house and work on it . The structure of those houses are way more solid than any Canadian house .
Oh really, that sounds mad. But who knows
Was in Blackpool last Wednesday that day the weather was like your video
