I failed to mention the silver canopy. Before I get a lot of "they weren't silver" let me explain. On the first Spitfires, the canopy was a straight back. This was too tight and cramped for pilots, especially the taller ones so the now iconic "bubble" canopy was created. I found an interesting color picture that showed the frames as bare metal silver. The old straight back canopy was removed and the new bubble top was added unpainted as they had just come from the factory. I thought that this would add some interesting history to my build so I painted it up as silver to reflect this.
Yep, I’ve seen that in quite a few pictures 👍🏻 That is a fabulous looking Mk 1. Any mark of Spitfire is a thing of beauty (although I’m prepared to leave the extended wingtip versions out of that statement), the Mk 1 being my favourite too, especially with the two bladed prop……..there’s something ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ about it. For me, next comes the early Mk XIV with the high back. Anyhoo, terrific build, really enjoyed the film, thank you 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻
Thanks Mark, I can't take all the credit for that, I got the paint and pressure just right on this one. I'm not a huge enough fan of the Lacquer AK Interactive paints to switch over, but of the few that I own they are amazing to paint when they are really thinned down, very impressive paints.
Great build R@C9! I built the Airfix 1/72 kit a few years ago. The color sceme and makings are somewhat different. 19th Squadron, black, silver underside, double blade propeller, red/white/blue/yellow upper wing marking.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch my vidoes Michael. I'm going to be challenging myself this year to building a car or 2, and I really want to start learning how to build motorcycles.
I really had a difficult time with them. This scheme is actually from the new Tamiya Spitfire. When I slid the stencils off of the backing they'd immeditly curl on themselves, and I couldn't get them flat into the model. It was so frustrating that I wrote to Eduard to ask them for help.
@@rebelsatcloudnine Thanks for the reply👍 it’s a shame when you buy a ltd edition Eduard kit you immediately shop for aftermarket decals! I’m going to try them though! Just to see how bad they are.
@@PeteCourtier I've seen a lot of mixed results with these new decals, some modelers get them to work really well and others have mixed results. I think for future projects I'll be buying the Over Trees, and then just adding after market decals to the kit.

You tell em' Jared. Another great Spitty added to the fleet. Nice one!

Love the freehand camouflage - I just find it much more pleasing to the eye than masked camouflage - great build
I've finally watched this. Very nice presentation.
A gorgeous build of a beautiful plane. You are a wizard with the airbrush, I wish I were a tenth as adept as you. 👍👍

I don't have one at the moment, but hopefully I'll be getting one :)
Great build once again! Keep it up!
Beautiful build!!!
Great work on this Mk I, which is my favorite as well. I have to say, your production and content for this project is really good as well. Hats off!
Thank you kindly :) I'm hoping to get to building the new Mk. I from Tamiya, and probably their old tooled one while I'm at it.
Say what you like about the Spit, she's a beautiful aircraft, and so is your model, well done.
Thanks Myles, Spitfire are really beautiful aircraft.

Beautiful build👍
What do you think of the new Eduard decals? Were they alright?
