I always asked the first question (how can I help you?) and I realized that the customers reacted badly, so I changed the question and started asking the following: Which one did you like? In this way the client got involved and we progressed in the sale. Dan, thank you for your videos and support.

@@leinpacheco5365 how long have you been looking for x? If they say they are not, move on, they are not looking. If they give a timeframe means they are looking, follow up question, what have you looked at so far, what did you like about the ones you looked at already, why didnt you buy those ones you already saw. With this, I know how long they been looking, how invested they have been in looking, who my competition is, what they liked about my competition and what they hated. I can then present my goods, and ask them leading questions with positive outcomes, basically where my product is the same as competitors that they liked. So it's them saying how they like it. Then I lead the discussion around the areas they didnt like if it comes to that.

Definitely something I've dealt with in the past. Whenever people start throwing questions at me that I can answer a short "no" to I think like "dude, seriously?! What kind of a question is that, don't give me the possibility to say "no" to you". Instead try asking positive questions, questions that will not only get you that *YES* but will also make that person you're talking to feel even more comfortable and he/she might even buy *MORE.*

Main Points in my view are
Do not ask Stupid Questions because these questions trigger automatic response of :No I do not want to buy I am just browsing.
    Stupid Questions :
    1) How can I help you?
    2) Do you have a minute? better is: Have 10 min? Is it a good time to talk?
    3) How could you not want this deal? Better is: What is your main requirement?
    4) Would you want take some time to think about it
    5) Do not give proposal. Give the contract to sign. Lead them to right decesion as a leader
    6) People love to buy Hate to be sold.
    7) I would be forward working with you
See video again for more understanding.

I tend to make a variation of the fisrt question. Not every product sales the same way, and since i sell specialized products (premium coatings and other high-end construction equipment), helping the customer or possible customer to find exactly what he wants is a must. If i see a customer trying to read the entire text in the product description, then he might take half an hour to get the specific product for his need. "May i help you with that?", while pointing at the large text has helped me to sell 3 or 4 times what the store was selling before they put me there.

Hi, dan lok thanks for this video, this video hits and trigger me now, what am doing maybe mistake or right way,
    i need some suggestion
Actually we are eCommerce developers, based on our clients requirements we are developing.
most of the clients they are asking proposals and details, without proposal and details how to close the deals.
This all the basic questions and conversation we are doing to the clients,
    1.Your name and Your from?
    2. You looking for single vendor ecommerce or you looking for multi vendor ecommerce?
    once they said their requirements
3.Whats your budget for this project?
client will say you have to tell how much you going to cost., in that case how to handle with high price and low price. sometimes client will say like price is too high.
4.Is that budget ok for you? are you capable to spend on this budget?
after that conversation clients ask the details in email. we will send the details to clients email.
once they received email and they will say i seen your email.
    5. when can we start work?
i need to start end of November! you can remember before. or sometimes they say will let you know.
some words we are getting like
(Will let you know, i will tell you soon, will revert asap, i need to discus with my partners, i waiting for other vendors proposals, i need to compare with other vendors proposals and quotes, i will come back to you if i need, currently we or i don't have such fund once we got get back to you )
after some days, will remember the clients they will say like, i compare with other vendors i got cheap pricing with someone.
    -------------------------------------------------------
Now i need is How close to close deal using some questions itself, how to know they having max fund to spend for the project.
i waiting for your valuable reply.

When asking questions like "you don't want to make a deal?" or "would you not like this instead?" you have technically already answered your own question. think about your words, ask the right questions and prove the customer that you have listened to his/her needs. this is critical if you want to up-sell a customer.
I used to work in the paint and home renovation business, my best sales were when i started to discuss the finished result, i make them visualise and see it from a bigger picture, explaining why they should go for the more expensive colour, how the light from the windows would reflect and interact with their furnitures and decorations inside the room. i even sold a customer a new floor for $3000 when he was just after a new brush and a refill :-)

Actually i mostly give up to be marketer, because i have the problem with my sales, but when I search how to be the best Marketer and I found you, and I watched your videos, and very helpful for me. Hopefully after I watch and apply your method I can decrease my sales. Thank you, and I hope i can meet you one day😊😊

I was looking at some items in a shop.
Sales girl : How can i help you?
Me : its ok, just looking around.
(the sales girl followed me behind until i stopped and looking at one particular item displayed in 3 different colors red, blue and green)
Sales girl : we have red, blue and green color for this.
First, i was pissed off.. why is this girl following me behind when i already told her i m just looking around, if i do really need help, cant i just simply walk to her and ask?
Second, does the sales girl thinks that i am a colorblind?
This situation happens a few times and they always do the same thing and say the same lines.

    Nice!
Regarding "is this a good time" vs. "is this a bad time", based on reference to studies done on this one, as per "Never Split the Difference" audibook, it is better to go with "is this a bad time". IIRC 20% higher success rate, but also better at building up buyer's confidence by growing their control by getting "no's"

I disagree with "is it a good time to talk?." because yet again you are setting yourself up for rejection by asking a closed-ended question (answerable by a yes or a no). The better question to ask is "When is a good time to talk?" Pass the responsibility of a definite answer to your prospect, let them think and arrange for a time, without you having to force it on them. Let them think they are the one in control. This way they'll feel better about the time they will spend listening to your pitch.

yesterday i had a guy for personal training and after that to close it. i do contracts for 5000; 8400 and 16000$. He goes, i travel a lot. So, it is not that easy to train with you. I go: many of my clients like CEO`s are very busy and even they take their time for working out. I couldn't close it but i got another appointment for wednesday to do another workout and then i close it like that: i understand that u are very busy by traveling. So, i give by a 6months and 12 months contract one more month to compensate the workout sessions .So, you are not lose any of the lessons;)

Very simple and strict "rules" and I WILL try them since I'll be meeting a bunch of potential customers in a few weeks time. You sound not like selling...you make things SOLD!! thanks for the awsome quastions. It really is not us wanting to sell right it's about about the customer wanting to BUY the stuff from US and not anyone else....

On-point! I totally agree with you on this. Asking the wrong questions can trigger people to not believe in you and not to buy your products or services too. Asking the right questions will definitely help you attract more sales. I will keep all the tips in mind so I can avoid these mistakes in the future. Awesome video, Dan!

Car manufactures CREATED car salesman, because nobody would buy. they would just "kick the tires". It takes a salesperson to get customers to commit to a actual purchase. Absolutely required!

Context is important. Many of these questions are OK if the customer contacts YOU. We do custom tag engraving, and the first question we ask when they phone is "What are the tags needed for...?" We let the customer describe how they are going to use them, then recommend the best type of material, a good size and thickness, etc. In MOST cases we send out a couple of samples, and when we do this 80% of the time the customer calls back with an order. We know that our competitors don't send samples because it's a hassle and has a cost, so when the prospect gets samples, it's likely we are the only ones who sent samples.
