    Thanks so much for this! The main thing preventing us from coming right now is our pets. Cats coming from Australia have to do 14 days quarantine to allow testing for Hendra virus, even though cats don't get Hendra, there isn't even a test for it. And their quarantine is caged rooms where animals can hear each other instead of private rooms like you see in places like Changi. Two weeks of that is incredibly stressful for an animal. They really need to improve animal quarantine infrastructure if they want to appeal to highly paid professionals - pets are one of the first luxuries people typically indulge when their finances allow.

    A Malaysian Statutory Declaration is the equivalent of a US affidavit.
    EDIT: For derantau staffers updating the FAQ
    • What does a local Malaysian organization or company need to do to sponsor a nomad? Specifically which documents and fees are involved?
    • When we will hear more about the Rantau Hub ecosystem?
    • Do you intend to establish an online community for nomads to interact and share experiences? If yes could I please recommend AVOIDING proprietary platforms like facebook and instead creating a traditional PHPBB2/3 forum?
    • For nomads interested in volunteering or helping develop Malaysia's deep tech capability, will there be organizational support for planning and scheduling events?
    • Once you have the work pass can you also apply for MACS to get stamp-free entry on the passport?

    Hi Kensho Quest! You are doing such a great job with your informative videos! Thanks to you I was able to complete mysejahtera application back in may and visit Malaysia. I want to apply for the digital nomad pass but I am currently waiting for my daughter's passport to be issued so that I can continue with my application. As this will take a while do you know where I can find the complete list of documents requested to be uploaded so that we can prepare them until her passport is ready? Thank you!

      Hi, we use SafetyWing travel health insurance ( affiliate link): kenshoquest.com/safetywing
      They offer a nomad plan where each parent's plan covers one child. It's great but keep in mind this is not a full coverage insurance. Though they do offer a different plan that is more comprehensive.

    Have there been any cases of successful applications? We need those much more than talk about the hubs and meetups... Really they should make the application and visa process easy and hassle free first, before even thinking about hubs and meetups for nomads.
    So far it looks like it will take around 3 months to apply with tons of papers and troublesome entrance process with getting an additional single entry visa.

    Thanks for the helpful video guys i'm in the process of applying for this. I'm just wondering do your bank statements need to be originals sent out from the bank or can you download E statements from a place like transferwise and will these suffice? Thanks

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  Рік тому

      Hi, great question. We did exactly as you asked. We downloaded E statements. Just make sure you document everything. I suggest adding an extra page to each statement you add with details explaining what you are showing them. Even highlight and number items if you feel it will help. This will save you a lot of back and forth with MDEC. Good luck!

    Thanks for the informative videos! I understand that the De Rantau pass must be used within 6 months of approval. So if you apply for the De Rantau pass and get approved, can you first enter Malaysia as a tourist for 90 days (for Americans and others where this applies) and then activate the De Rantau pass (12 months) just before the 90 days is up? In essence, you would be staying in Malaysia for 15 months total.

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  Рік тому

      Yes, I believe you can use the 90 days first as long as you are within the 6 months, good luck!

    As far as i know, if two countries signed a double taxation avoidance law (ADTA), then you are taxed in 1 country. Very likely the place you are residing. So it is case by case because not all countries signed such agreement with malaysia. I was hoping those can be partially answered in the CPTPP agreement (comprehensive and progressive agreement for trans-pacific partnership) but after donald trump, joe biden continued not to participate although it was obama who proposed it. I counted only 19 countries have signed with malaysia including some cptpp members.

    Thank you for making this video! It answered some of the questions that I had. I have couple other questions.
    Do you know whether an American applicant who is already in Malaysia on a 3 months stamp would need to leave Malaysia and go to a Malaysian embassy to get a Reference Visa in order to enter Malaysia once approved? This is what needs to be done, according to what MDEC wrote to me in my email communication with them. But I'm not 100% sure whether this is true. It just doesn't make sense. Which Malaysian embassy did you choose in their list of places where one can pick up the Reference visa? It is a required field, so I am curious how you solved it knowing that you already are in Malaysia.
    And also what did you do, as an American, for the yearly income statement? The field says latest 3-months bank statements and yearly income statement.
    Thank you! 🙂

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  Рік тому

      Hi, I do not think you need to leave Malaysia at all if you don't have to. I do not think I fully understand your question. Can you rephrase your question? You can choose to pick up your visa from within Malaysia.
      As for income statement, you do need to upload the 3 bank statements and for income you can upload parts of your 1040 tax return from the previous year.
      I hope this helps!
