The lyrics are actually a poem from 1890, a New York writer went down to Texas and wrote the "Cowboys Christmas Ball" based on his experience, trying to give his New York readers a taste of the West. Quirky, unique, fun, songs that connect; and then songs like these, which culminate all of that, and are done for charity, not profit. I can honestly say it's not my favorite Christmas song put out by them, but I'll still buy it.

I was born and Raised in Nevada, Still live here in Las Vegas. I have acctually seen Brandon Flowers here and shook his hand at a sports club here. He is a very awesome and nice guy. They all perform here a lot and they live in Las Vegas. That is why their logo is all lights and a lot of their Videos have to do with Nevada. I love it here and to know that Brandon flowers wrote a damn song about it is awesome :D

I’m a bit of a Christmas song purist, and deserts and cowboys and that whole milieu would not seem to fit the snowy Christmases I grew up with in Chicago that inform my tastes---but the Killers’ greatness blows away the script, and now this and several of other Killers Christmas songs are in my Christmas song power rotation. Of course, it helps when you’re arguably the best rock band of the past two decades.
