- In today’s video we remove the 3.6L Pentastar intake manifold in oder to make space for some High discharge coil packs from Ripp Superchargers. There will be a surprise install towards the end of the video for those who stick to the end! #rippsuperchargers #dodge #challenger #charger #chrysler #ram

Nice work! However, That sensor is the Intake Temp Sensor ( IAT ), not Mass airflow. You should also disconnect the neg batt terminal to reset , and let the ECU relearn the new information of Airflow, Coils and reset. Also, pulling the #25 Fuse ( discussed at length on Y Tube) helps reset learned performance robbing adjustments.
Alright thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure about the sensor.
Can you please explain a little further please do I have to disconnect battery before of after intake install and do I also have to pull the #25 fuse after?
Great mention and observation.
@@TheDenaLife you dont need to do that if you have a later model chrysler/dodge lock the car put the hood up and wait 5-10min then it goes into service mode if im not mistaken.
@@thatblack300s haha what the hell are you on about?
Someone get this man a power ratchet !! Great video ! One question...after all that pre work, why didn't you put new plugs in too?
Amazing Video, Thanks for actually not cutting every part of the video!!
I've had to remove the intake on the 3.6L in my Jeep GC more times than I'd like. It's a complete pain in the butt and you made look like a walk in the park. BRAVO! The next time I have to remove mine (which will be some time this year because the stupid ticking noise is back) I'm going to watch this video again for inspiration
Sorry to hear about the ticking noise but can you elaborate a bit on the problem?
@@SalVille It’s more than likely bad rockers/bearings. Super common on the 3.6L, sadly.

Great video. By the way, that "lube" for the boot is called dielectric grease. Overall, great video.

I personally always run copper In my boosted cars. But in this case with no forced induction and intake manifold off plug changes, I would opt for iridium.
The intake is much nicer than the K&N intake that was on.

By spending all this money it improves power to weight ratio by making your wallet lighter.
🤣
In other words money spent but no noticeable performance gains…..
Funny comment, but I don’t get why people think this. If you modify your car with better performing parts, it will increase your performance.

In the video @ 3:50, when the removal of upper plenum support brAckets is claimed to be a must, notice the studs that he is pointing out have inverted Torx heads on them. This means they can be easily removed. Now you don't have to remove the brackets, and the job got that much easier.

If I caught it right, you stated this was a high mileage vehicle. When replacing the coil packs, why not go ahead and swap out the spark plugs as well?
Hands down, awesome video !!!

How did you manage to take out that hidden bracket bolt behind the manifold that was attached to the hose?
Should of changed out the plugs while you had the intake off...

Do you need to change the Hood or will a different Hood be needed?
Does the stock hood close with this installed?

Yeah had to do this on my JK for the oil cooler under the intake. I broke it some how and they wouldn’t cover it. 125$ part. They wanted like 1400 to do it.
same here. paid my uncle 200 bucks to do it.

7 month update:
Average MPG: 22mpg

Sparks weren’t changed as I had less than 9k miles on them. Will definitely upgrade later on.
AFe over K&N due to more airflow yes it does have plastic tubing and it’s holding up fine but that means cooler tubbing over metal piping. Didn’t need new intake gaskets as I am low mileage.
No tune required btw.

Ripp Coils
AFe Stage 2 CAI

A before and after 0-60 or dyno run would have been nice. Any issues with these coil packs so far? I have heard mixed reviews about these coil packs.
$300 & I heard some say they had 2 coils go,shit made for $300,like I always say, stock stuff is better made than all this aftermarket slop thats just after ur money
I have them too. And no problems

It's not boot lubricant, it's dielectric grease that helps the spark get to the plug more efficiently.
Excuse me....but if ur replacing coils....wouldn't it be a good idea to check spark plugs at least? Could had needed replacing
Could that ripp supercharger coilpack be installed on 3.6L in 2012 Town and country?
96 inch pounds, in other words 8 ft lb of torque? How many ft lbs should the ignition coils be torqued to?
Bro. U only replaced the coils nd cold intake. How is it with out supercharged. Did it give u more horsepower ?
Stock works just fine
Those blue gasket are the upper ones?
Will that work in a 2023 last call addition SXT ?
Did you notice much power increase after mods? I have a 2016 Charger and I am looking at doing the same thing. Without spending a lot of money.
Can u tell us who much horse power you get in this 3.6 after all that change ?

How many spark plugs do I need for a v6 Challenger ???
I have the same set up plus tune! Im at 5 sec 0-6. 300
Looks like that CAI will fit on my 3.6L Journey so I can re mount my battery up top where the stock airbox is lol
I got the SOS on my 5.7 and noticed a difference but at high speed it’s very noticeable.

Can I ask what is the Part number on these for the 3.6 Challenger?
If you are talking about the cold air you can get it on Americanmuscle.com the coils are on ripp site.
does this kit also work on a v6 durango !?
What mileage is high when you talked about the green seals?
Yeah good question.
A little dielectic grease on the outside of the boots never hurts.
Can you throw these in if you don’t have anything else?
Check that oil cooler assembly while you’re at it.

@@toddaaron1592 yeah, many a result of over tightening the oil filter cap. I do all my own oil changes, and never over tighten. My mechanic buddy told me always oil the threads and new gasket. Does he have the larger carburetor?
Where I can order the kit for my car it’s 2016 challenger sxt if fits in my car
What a pain that is on the V6. Sadly, most V6 motors are setup the same.
Why get the CF headlight tube, but the regular plastic for the rest? I know that CF tube is way more expensive than the plastic one.
It was a time consuming install. That’s for sure! I don’t know the price difference but it’s a good looking kit.
@@scatspeed3114 I was looking at the CF tube for my Chally, but decided on the plastic instead. It was about $100 three years ago. It does look sharp, & aFe Power makes nice stuff! I have their Mach Force-XP exhaust that I'll be installing as soon as I can get it ceramic coated.
At 4:05 that bolt that you can’t see is literally impossible to remove on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same engine. The engine is set so far back impossible.
What about the spark plugs?
How does he get through smog testing?
Can I use these on Chrysler 200 3.6?
So question, I just did this job on my 2020 Challenger GT. U said the torque spec was 96 in-lbs but on the intake manifold on my challenger there is an engraving that says 7-9 Nm which translates to about 62 to 79 in-lbs. Where are you getting this 96 in-lbs torque spec?
Well I called up my buddy that works at one of my local Dodge dealers and I asked him “ Bro! I going to take an intake manifold off a 3.6 pentastar from a 2019 Dodge Challenger, and I don’t know the Torque spec on the upper plenium bolts.” He said 96 in-pounds. Unless I got confused or he straight up gave me the wrong information. I don’t know but that’s what I torqued it down to.
Torque it down to 79 if that’s it says.
What is that CAI made of for the pipe? It sounds very plastic-y.
It's metal
You know it's not hard to pop the cable ties off without destroying them, just need a fork tool.
what year?
So do you just lose the light for the air flow?
There's no light coming out that circle peice bruhhh...
@scat speed would this make any sense for me to do? 2020 charger GT V6, stock intake no other mods, just oil catch can.
No
Intakes don't do anything either except make the engine noise louder.
These mods increase throttle response.
I wouldn’t waste the money on these coils unless ur stock ones went bad.
Don't know if there's voltage change but installing them cause there pretty?
He'll be going back to OEM within a year after they start failing on him.
Can these fit on a Chrysler 200s v6 they have the same engine
Yes
The problem is with these types of coils is that I have yet to find the specs on them in regards to voltage output over stock...
Coil packs will never produce any gains. They're just cosmetic
@@732Mopars compression ratio dictates voltage level due to resistance of flame propagation in high pressure environments....also Multiple spark discharge up to 20° of crankshaft rotation aides in power output at the crank...
@@leskobrandon538 stock coil packs are used on 2000hp motors. Compression does not dictate coil pack voltage. You are referring to the spark plug heat range. That is changed by spark plugs not coil packs. In fact, I can guarantee you these coil packs are just repainted OEM coil packs. Not sure what you're trying to say about multiple spark discharge?
@@732Mopars in the old days, back before you were born, stock coil output was around 12kv.. even HEI output was around 15kv. . For 14.1 or higher compression MSD coils were used and putting out around 20kv and when used with the MSD 6A capacitor box that would jump up to 50kv at the plug. So yes, compression ratio Does dictate the need for night coil output to prevent clipping of the spark at the plug. My home built stroked smblk chevy would eat plugs at 10k miles due to the quintuple duty of plugs not just firing once, but multiple time on the down stroke upto 20° crankshaft rotation... What exactly is different about those versus the Oem coil pack?
More spark, hotter spark. I did blue streaks on mine seems to wake it up a little but it was due for a tube up anyways just figured why not! I do have it turned up so I get the extra benefit of more fuel, air, and less restriction on the exhaust! Mine has a tune that when it’s just idiling it sounds like a hemi setting there but when you rev it thing straightens right up and gets that British gravely sound to it! That it 👈🏻 in the pick! Less weight and same pentastar 3.6 with a 6 speed!
minimal noticeable difference
Were plugs changed. Or do u still use the factory plugs if you're under 100k?

I'm curious, why change from K&N to afe? (I just bought k&n for my 3.6L charger)
Im guessing the headlight inlet tube is for more airflow. I have k&n as well and would like to upgrade to the afe👑

He said he knocked of .2 seconds off his 0-60 time.
Coil packs aren't going to do anything on there own in terms of power. They can give more reliable power with more consistent combustion, but they are still regulated by the ECU. So unless you're tuned with other supporting mods there's really no need to do them.
Does anyone know if this actually increases horsepower? If so, how many horsepower increases? On v6 3.6L Dodge Challenger
Forget what channel it was, but they did dyno runs with ask the aftermarket coils and found a negligible difference. Better to invest in air charge cooling and a ram air setup.
This alone probably wont get you anything. With a tune on the ECU this might very well add a few HP
@@sienile I saw the dyno test and on a 3.6 pentastar ram 1500 it was a 12 horse power gain on the dyno

Do you have to take the Intake Manifold off to install the coil packs ?
YES. The coil packs and spark plugs on the drivers side of the engine are buried/covered by the upper portion of the intake manifold. The upper portion of the intake needs to be removed to access those three coils/spark plugs.
Upgrading plugs and coils isn't going to do anything unless your going forged internals with some boost once you do that with injectors then you will notice a difference adding coils and plugs
