One thing I really like about your remixes is how you guys incorporate your own original/improvised additions to the song to prevent the original melody from growing stale and repetitive. It's like this is a remix of the full, unreleased song while the original had the stuff in between the choruses cut due to limitations, it fits that naturally.
@@TheOneUps Your version of Dire, Dire Docks is probably the best example of it (that I've listened to), it often feels more like an original song than a remix of another one. When I try to recall the song in my head and compare it against original, I find it difficult to find the parts that are from the original. While difference in key (I assume, don't know much about music theory), pacing, structure, and instrumentation might be part of that, I think the amount of original content is what sets it so far apart. It truly is a remix, using elements of the original to make something new, as opposed to a cover which is just essentially the same song with a different performer/instrumentation. You guys are so talented, it really is a shame you've apparently been shunned by the algorithm, which is honestly rather strange considering your content (high quality, relaxing jazz remixes of iconic VGM) and how long you've been at it. You seem like the kind of channel that would be a long-running, iconic mainstay like Smooth McGroove, yet it seems the odds never went that way. Oh well. Anyways, you guys are amazing, keep at it.
I decided to check this one out after searching for Super Mario jazz covers- this one is by far the greatest, and a real pleasure to listen to. Best 4:03 minutes spent in my life.
I love how much depth and originality you intertwine with each classic video game cover. Your solos are amazing and I can really feel the emotion you put in your music.
Today I had the SNES version in my head and set out to find a cover of this song that had EXACTLY this treatment of it. Thank you for creating something this awesome.
You're welcome! Check out our third album, "Super Mario Kart Album," where we arrange the whole soundtrack, including another Koopa Beach! (but we forgot to do the end credits music whoops!)
This past Christmas, my mother revealed to me and my older siblings that, in celebration of all of us getting older and going off into the world (high school class of 2020 anyone?), she made all our own playlists on the Spotify app, with a list of songs and why they were there. Apparently "Koopa Beach" was included, and I was interested to see what version and why it was there. As it turns out, it's a callback to my tortoise, me loving Mario Kart to death, and me enjoying the summer all in one fell swoop. I had to do a bit of digging to find the exact music video my mother found for me, and, well, here I am now. I once mistakenly said the N64 version was growing on me since Christmas, and while that's technically true, I apparently actually meant this one. Funny how one parent can solely define your love for a Mario Kart stage, huh? (Edit: I never got to say "I like your work" before now. You earned a subscriber-)
Every Year I rediscover this song. And everytime I listen to it, it hits just as good as it did the first time I heard it. Fav part will always be 2:00 and forward!
This is a tough song for me to listen to, as silly as it sounds. It's so happy and the jazz is exactly what I'd normally like to hear, but I remember it as the last song my dad heard as he lost to cancer. He wasn't much of a video game player, even though he always wanted to be. His favorite games were those with cars and me being a Nintendo fanboy at the time I didn't have any realistic racing sim. The best I could do was load up Mario kart battle mode in single player and hand it to him to drive aimlessly around the different maps. His favorite was this one that looked like a city from Italy. It would remind him of the days he travelled. We raced together every so often but he didn't like how it wouldn't go on forever so back to the battle map it would go. I was inspired one day upon hearing this song to make a playlist of what I thought were the greatest pieces of music to exist. I wanted him to hear that playlist but he passed before he had the chance. The playlist is no longer up. I remember though, this was the one song we listened to together on my last day of visiting him. It did a great job of making him happy. I have to thank you guys for giving me one of my few good memories I have with my father, and more importantly for making the last time I saw him a better time than it would have been otherwise, so thank you.
That's a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing. We are truly honored to be a part of your story. We hope we can continue to be a part of your story as you grieve and as you find peace. There are two more arrangements of this tune on this channel. One is more of an upbeat, albeit pensive groove, and one is centered around grief and loss for solo guitar. Seek them out should you so desire. Otherwise, we'll be here for you as long as we're allowed. All the best. ♥
