Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three fabulous new Halloween quilt patterns made with the Flying Geese quilt block.
Jenny’s Night Flight Halloween table runner features a flock of spooky flying geese and a pair of patchwork bats. It's made with precut 10 inch squares from the Owl-o-Ween Layer Cake by Urban Chiks for Moda Fabrics.
Misty's Stars Hollow quilt is a big, gorgeous star pattern made with Spooky 'n Witchy 10" Squares by AGF Studio for Art Gallery Fabrics.
And Natalie's Fly and Flip table runner shakes things up with one-seam flying geese construction + a magical little curving technique a la cathedral window. Her fabric is The Boo Crew 10 Karat Crystals by Susan Winget for Wilmington Prints

That's so funny Jenny. When my first grandson was just a very small toddler I was making my twin size quilts for our missionaries that came into our area. Everytime i made one my grandson would say ," Nana I need me one like that"! Then he would proceed to gather up my fabric for his . I can't tell you how many quilts he ended up with. Today he is married and in the army. His wife recently caught a virus and what did he do ? He brought her one of his twin quilts and wrapped her in it and told her , " Quilts have magical powers , they have healing powers "! I thought that was perfect but then I am HIS NANA. 😊❤❤❤
Oh my word-Natalie is almost unrecognizable!!!! I haven’t watched MSQ videos in a while & boy has Natalie changed. She has lost a lot of weight. Congratulations Natalie. I’m sure you worked hard. Keep up the good work.
Always enjoy the triple play. How blessed you are to have each other!
The bat needs some googly eyes 👀
LOL! That would be cute🦇

And fang teeth too.
I love that Natalie challenged the flying geese! Beautiful quilting ladies
Super awesome triple play today. Thanks girlies. Totally enjoyed all 3 projects but I must say Miss Natalie’s one seam flying geese was mind blowing for me. Didn’t have a clue this could be done. Can’t wait to try it. Have a wonderful weekend MSQC Crew. 🤗🤗🤗
Jenny , if by some chance you see this I have a request and compliment for you. I recently purchased your small book , " Quilter's 10" Square Precut Companion " and I LOVE IT !! ❤❤❤ I'M asking for you to publish more of these little books because I enjoy using them at my quilting table. My space is very small and these little books just fit into my space perfectly. There is not one day I don't use your tutorials and books to help me in my sewing projects. Not only is your wisdom much appreciated but so is your happy disposition. You make me a better person while I'm trying to create a new quilt. Love you three beautiful ladies , you all make my life be more happy and Uplifting. ❤❤❤
Jenny... I love grunge fabric because it's perfect dual sided fabric. You get the texture pattern on one side and solid color on the flip side. The fabric designer told Bj and me this was intentional to extend the fabric use. It makes your grunge stacks so versatile. Love 💕 love 💕 love 💕 Grunge!!!
Thanks girls! Three imaginative, spooky, beautiful and fun projects. I love how you presented them: the hats, the cauldron and that bit of magic! The sewing machine is a wonderful thing!🎃💜
I don’t usually like Halloween items, but I love these; perhaps I just haven’t found Halloween fabrics that woo me! I’ll be on the hunt now. Thank you ladies!
Cutest triple play ever! Love the hats and the mixing of the cauldron to make your projects. I enjoyed this one so much!
I love seeing your Featherweight! I’d love to see a video or something in Block Magazine about your old sewing machines❤
What a fun three way!!!! So much spooky fun. Love that you used the featherweight!!! I was gifted my grandmother’s and I love it as much as she did. Thanks ladies ❤
I just today became a Featherweight owner. My husband gave me an early birthday gift!!! He is so very good and kind! Mine is a 221 Centennial.
You three are so much fun🎉🎉🎉
Jenny , you are such an AMAZING teacher !❤❤❤❤😊
I love your block Misty. Very clever
I have my Mom's Featherweight 1955. It sews like a dream!
The Geese and Bats runner is a Fun project. If you add Some little flat red buttons, you can give the bats eyes! Can't wait to try it.
I have my mother’s Featherweight that she bought in 1953 when I was 13. It still works.
I bought my sister a featherweight, she named her Pearl❤love these projects ladies, thank you!
Natalie, I just noticed your greenery on your hat. So creative! Each of you add your own touch in so many ways. That's one reason why tripple play are my favorites.
Glad you had a quilt option. I don't do table runners but appreciate all the techniques and ideas you share!
I love how you all showed you can make large and small projects with these blocks! I loved learning the new way to make a flying geese! If you waited to sew them down it could almost make it a quilt as you go as well! Thanks again for another wonderful video!
I searched just yesterday "Missouri Star Halloween Quilts" and today you came through! *cackle* And Stars Hollow is my favorite town.
Love Misty's quilt!. Also learned a new technique from Natalie.
I love how natalie made those flying geese. I thought that was incredible. That was the first time I have ever seen them made like that
Good morning lovely ladies, totally off subject here but if anyone remembers Samantha, from a show here in the UK called Bewitched, doesn't our beautiful Natalie look like Samantha with her beautiful smile? Now i wonder if she can twitch her nose to make great things happen. Misty on the other hand has the beautiful hair of Samantha.. Oh and by the way, Samantha was always a bonny, bonny lady. I love your hats ladies, i love the way that you all have FUN and make things fun, never a boring day in your households.
It's great how your family appreciates the nicer things in life and handmade means oh so much more to them than if it had ever been bought. It's lovely to see family and all it does is more important than anything else, but you always seem to celebrate any occasion and any excuse for a celebration and this is how we should all be able to live. Thank you ladies for your great projects and for sharing your family with us, making us feel apart of that family. Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland
Those one seam flying geese are awesome, thanks Natalie!
I love that you used a Black Featherweight machine for these projects.
Misty’s block is amazing! Love it!
I really enjoy watching your tutorials and recommend them to new quilters. I used to teach "learn to quilt" classes at a LQS. Your instructions are so clear and understandable.
Perhaps you could include the no waste flying geese method the next time they fly by in one of your tutorials.
I love triple plays.
Love the new version of the Missouri Star Quilt.
Love the table runner. Also love the Featherweight,I learned to sew on one some 50 years ago.
When I make my flying geese, I've made it a habit of sewing across an extra 1/2 inch so I get a flying geese block and a small half square triangle at the same time. It makes it easier for me to justify not throwing away tiny little triangle scraps.
All you ladies look so cute in your decorated hats! Triple play is fun to watch.😊
I love the sound of the featherweight
I had never seen the flying geese done the way Natalie showed so I definitely learned something new! Of course I need a table runner!❤
Hi, watching from Minnesota at 12:47 am. Love your tutorials.
Minnesota at 6:04 am 🙌
SO cool to see the featherweight out and being used!!! Loved the witchy fun!
As an editor and a quilter, I just have to point out how much fun the editor was having with this one putting in new transitions 😂
The Quilts are fabulous. But I need one of those TShirt. It is giving me inspiration .🎃
Love the runner and the quilts. Thank you for sharing.
Love them all especially Natalie’s!
Natalie, your hat is positively adorable 😍. You look amazing dear 😊
Great fun and I had never seen the one seam flying geese before!
I LOVE triple play
All your Halloween quilts are very nice. But just want to say how nice Natalie looks since she lost so much weight, you go girl
Nat's block is made like the 5 minute block. I have done these before, so easy and quick!
Three cute ideas for Halloween. Love watching the three of you create.

I grew up with that thread cutter.
Nice, Natalie!
3 gorgeous quilts
The monthly MSQ Triple Play is always my favorite video of ANY kind of videos from January through December. Always. Excellent, Ladies!
Triple play day is my favorite!!! Thanks
Loving the hats girls, as well as the projects!
I’m thinking that Natalie’s table runner would work nicely into a quilt instead if a runner! I had completely forgotten about the one-seam flying geese! Very cool and so easy!!!
Can’t tell you how much I look forward to all you how much I look forward to all your tutorials!!! Triple Plays are always fun!!! Love you girls!!!
One seam flying geese?? Game changing magic!!!❤️
Loved the triple play.Very creative girls.
Fun triple play. Loved the table runner. It would work for different seasonal prints and backgrounds. The ends could be pumpkins, trees, snowflakes, shamrocks, hearts, bunnies, tulips. Some might require applique to make it work
Another wonderful triple play Thank you all so much x
This would have been a perfect opportunity to use the 4 At a Time No waste method for Flying Geese
Beautiful and spooky projects! Can't pick a favorite, so that must mean I need to make them all! Thanks, girls!
Nate: Loved that you said “other girls”.
Love watching you work together. I have never seen the one seam flying geese. That was amazing.
I love my featherweight, they have such a distinctive voice.
Great tip Natalie! Love it! All of the projects are so cute!
Loved it! I have never seen that one-seam flying geese; Thanks Natalie!!
I've never seen the one seam flying geese before. How fascinating. Thanks for the three great projects!
In the UK, we don’t really decorate for Halloween. But, in recent years more people are starting to - this year I’m going to do a few things, the 1st quilt will make a great table runner 🧙🏻
i just got my book/Triple Play and I am so excitede, such a great book and mounted in a ringed book cover and back, I love books like that, they lay open so nicely. and tons of quilt patterns using a block and then different blocks and quilts made out of the same but placed edifferently block. so fun.
I haven't watch any UA-cam videos lately but I have to say Natalie you look amazing.
Thank you ladies for the spooky ideas.
I love love love the cool flying geese trick that Natalie shared! How did you ever think of doing that? Maybe from origami? Also, I love how amazed Misty and Natalie were at a thread cutter and mystified as to how to use it!! Like oohing over a rotary phone.
When you ladies started with Cauldron I thought this is hokie, then Jenny pulled her project out. Now I think that is such a clever idea and so well filmed.
What great ideas you ladies designed. Jenny's bat so creative, I love the center with the flying geese going in different directions; Misty, quilt is amazing, witches' hats, etc. made such special Halloween quilt; Natalie, wow, such creative way of using flying geese.
I remember the tutorial on the one seam flying geese, I can't remember what Block it is in. I made my grandchildren the project for the advent Calendar Jenny had showed. They started in December writing something they appreciated about the other and place in a pocket every day. Christmas Eve, they read what their sibling had appreciated.
I surely enjoy when you all do the tutorial together.
ladies, you look amazing
You ghoulish gals are so much fun; this triple play is great, I love them all. Happy Spooky Season!
Beautiful. I love your triple play videos. ❤ What an awesome legacy you have Ms. Jenny.
LOVE all 3!! Jenny's table runner would look great if the ends had NON-Halloween looking pumpkins on the ends...so it could be used through Thanksgiving.
This was a truly fun tutorial! It’s always neat to see your individual choices come out!
Thank you all. Triple Plays are the best! ⚘️
Hats great! Natalie wins my fav 🦇🦇

Very nice ladies. I like them all. Thanks for sharing
What a fun Triple Play!!! Love the Festherweight!!! I don't have a Featherweight but that is all good! Jenny try a Singer 301A or a 301. They are alot like the Featherweight but sew so much faster!!!!
