For some reason, this video reminded me that The Charismatic Voice had said that she was learning how to do growling but I haven't seen her do it in a new video.
2021 and sound engineers still haven't figured out how to make the vocals not drowned out by the rest of the instruments
They have if you ever listen to a Nightwish live recording. The sound guys at those shows are incredible.
You also have to realise Corey really is pulling back on the mic. They probably did a mic check before hand but due to it being a more intimate gig, he felt he needed too hold back.
Plus, 1 voice compared to 8 musicians, he does a fkn good job.
Not just the vocals. It sounded like a garage band a couple of houses away.
Oh my God, Elizabeth is an absolute gem 🤣 Re: the mask question. I think the later incarnations are mostly latex/leather construction. Both Corey and Jim have stated that they hate the masks, and it's almost like torture to perform in them at times, but they're integral to the mindset when they go on stage. It's almost like surrendering themselves to a different persona.
Never thought I'd see Elizabeth in a beard; let alone one that looks identical to the one Till Lindemann (from Rammstein) used in the Steh Auf music video. Like the similarities are outstanding.

I love how mark hits the mic every episode, even when he's this weird other version of himself
During this performance, Corey had a 104 fever and he still delivered a great performance. Love this live show. Disasterpiece was absolutely amazing. I think this was the best version of this mask and makeup during this cycle.

Am I the only one who thinks every era of slipknot should have a different video because he sounds different and uses (kinda) different techniques every album? Because I’d love to learn how to do those high screams he does during the vol 3 live era in a healthy way

I love slipknot!!! If I were ever in a band it would be in a band like slipknot. Sometimes I just want to put on a mask and be someone totally different and just let out some frustration all while hyping people and hopefully helping them get through stuff as they have helped me. Metal calms me. It's weird but it just calms me and helps me think.

If this is the performance I think it is this will be really fun! Corey does an amazing job in the last chorus.
I was blown away by the cover CMFT/Corey Taylor did of Eddie Money's shakin'! Eddie Money always opened and closed every season at Detroit's DTE Theater (Pine Knob), for about 20 years!

Yeah dude, would love to see some of their Iowa tracks like Skin Ticket, New Abortion, Disasterpiece etc.. 🤘 Skin Ticket has alot of varying vocals/screams in it hence why I put it first would be genuinely curious to see your thoughts on Corey's performance on that track compared to modern Corey with something like Unsainted.
I was hoping for commentary on singing in a mask and working around that restricted nose and flexibility.
But this was still awesome and I love it

Since you asked about the masks, il try to do the short version. The older ones he said he hated because they were hard to see out of, very hot, and he got tired of headbanging and almost getting blinded by the dreads. Then the vol 3 mask he said he had to change his vocal style because of the way it was molded he couldnt get the mic close to his mouth. So now he designs all his masks to be breathable and easy to sing out of
Imagine an opera singer taking “Mark’s” advice at 14:05…As a woman who can confidently produce a consistent, quasi-operatic legit tenor sound, I would *LOVE* to be in the audience of an opera concert for a sing-along section of “Nessun dorma” or “Ah! mes amis”.

In the beginning in 1999 Corey was very vicious vocally and he was using those harsh vocals that you described and then on IOWA those vocals made that album what it was which is a masterpiece. And then on Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, Corey found a new way to do his scream and completely bypassed the way that he used to do it and I don't know if that was from vocal surgery but you've got to remember that he was balancing both Slipknot and Stone Sour almost at the same time and I believe on Stone Sour's Self titled album that Corey was using the same harsh vocals that he used in 1999 with Slipknot and then as Stone Sour evolved as too did both Corey's vocals and vocal range. The Stone Sour album that showed the improvement in his vocal ability was actually Audio Secrecy but people will argue since the next album after the self-titled album was Come What(ever) May but I believe that Stone Sour put out an amazing album with Audio Secrecy. That's just my two cents and I'm letting you know what's what. I can do the same harsh vocals that Corey does and mine came at the price of certain ranges that I can't hit anymore because I learned how to do it the wrong way but over time it did go from all throat to just diaphragm.
