I've had that exact same model for 14+ months now. All black, mesh, lumbar, no forward tilt. For me, the lumbar is essential. I even had one of those ALL33 chairs, that's ALL lumbar. The Fern is the best chair I've ever used, and it's not even close. Mine replaced an old Herman Miller office chair, which was good but old. I recently got a Steelcase Leap V2 for my 2nd office. It's very nice, but the Fern is still my favorite. So much so, in fact, that I've now ordered an Atlas Headrest for it.
Everyone mentions the fern is far better without the Lumbar. I just ordered mine without and no head rest either, for 1300 CAD brand new, will be hard to beat that chair bang for buck.
How did you like the one without lumbar? Have seen a lot of people say they couldnt use it for work/office setting because then there's almost no support and feels like a hammock.
Literally same scenario, my Fern with lumbar (and digital knit) arrived today, and I spent a few hours on it and wondered why my mid back started to ache. At the price, it doesn’t make sense for me to try to force myself to like it. Just set up the return process and ordered a HM Embody.
Happy I saw this. Had a mesh no lumbar on order and now I’m going to switch it to digital knit.
Good points all.

Do you find the embody more comfortable?
@@chnlng00 I do for sure. I’ve had it for a month now. But everyone’s different!
Mine came from Amazon today, and nothing works on it. No verical adjustment or tilt/recline. Am i missing something?
Is the lumbar support easily removable?
Unfortunately, no, as it is built into the back of the chair. That's why haworth offer you to try it for 30 days and free return shipping.
