Hi Loreza, thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of information. I have just setup my orchard a few months ago and my plants are almost 3 months old. Can you please guide how much NPK should be supplied to such younger plants till they attain an age of 2 years? I am really struggling with this and I guess palants need nutrition now. I guess the schedule shared in video is for plants having 2+ years of age. Please advise. Thanks & have a good day!
You can use the same annual dosage as presented in this video. If you watch the video, you will see that the total annual dosage is applied in four installments. That means, you don’t apply them all at once. The first installment is composed mostly of Nitrogen, which promotes vegetative growth. Nitrogen helps in producing new stems and to make your plant grow faster. Under favorable conditions, if your plant is from a healthy and mature cutting (at least 2 years old), it can produce fruits in less than a year. Take note, your cutiing must be mature. That is, the stem itself, not the mother plant, from which you take the cutting must be at least 2 years old. One can actually make the mistake of taking young and immature cuttings from a young stem of an old mother plant. For more tips, we suggest you watch our other video: “How to Select the Right Stems for your Dragon Fruit Cuttings.”
hello, based on the video you only apply fertilizer 4x a year. but our dragonfruits produce fruits multiple times a year. so for the 3rd (before flowering) and 4th (fruit developing) will these be only applied for the first flower and fruits of the year? how about subsequent flowers? Is there no longer need for fertilizer
Hi, first of all, thank you for sharing this. It’s very helpful. But I have question, how do I calculate the grams of fertilizer if I use let see 0.0.46 to get 45% while fruits are developing? Thank you!
Thank you for visiting our channel. The numbers 0-0-46 means you have 46 grams of Potassium for every 100 grams of that fertilizer. You may want to watch our other video entitled, “How to Calculate Grams of Fertilizer for a Given NPK Value and Specified Dosage” to learn more.
Thanks for the comment. Besides application of the right dosage of fertilizer, there are other factors that affect fruit production: e.g., plant maturity, sunlight exposure, plant variety, presence of pollinators for non-self-pollinating varieties, etc. Though we have covered these other factors in another video, we could have mentioned them here also. Again, thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate it.
Plant's demands for nutrients vary by season. Nitrogen promotes vegetative growth. It increases the plant's bio mass. It is mostly needed during the growing stage, when you want your dragon fruit to generate new stems or branches. Phosphorus helps plants in root development, flower formation, and seed production. Potassium helps promote cell growth and increases fruit quality and yield. As mentioned in the video, more Nitrogen is required during the growing season, more Phosphorus is required just before flowering, and more Potassium is required while fruits are developing. Please watch the video and take note of the recommended amounts and timing of application of these nutrients. There is a table that shows specific quantities of each nutrient for each application.
19-19-19 and 20-20-20 both contain equal amounts of the primary nutrients Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium. These are all needed by the plant. However, plants' demands for these nutrients vary by season. Nitrogen promotes vegetative growth. It increases the plant's bio mass. You can try distributing the recommended annual dosage into multiple applications based on the number of fruiting cycles.

@@LorezaKabuhayan I understand now. Thank you!
@@licakaing3657 You’re welcome.
You forgot to mention that this fertilizer dose is for already mature plants (2+ year old) that are ready to give fruits.
