- here's an update video of a terrarium rain gardens that i made few months ago in a glass tank.
the main concept of this project is to bring nature home in smaller scales.
having such miniature landscapes not only add beauty to your living scapes, also the visual effects like natural light or FLOWING water, help reduces stress levels and improve moods.

I'm literally gettin addicted to the terrarium videos
I want you to know this has inspired me. I'm in the process of building a 20 gallon tall vivarium for my young dart frogs that will include a rain system like this. While installing misters would be more conventional and arguably easier, I love the effect of your rain system and I've been wanting to make one ever since I watched your first video on it. Your work is inspiring and beautiful
Sounds amazing! tall vivarium with a rain system and dart frogs❤.
Thank you so much
@@langdiy what size drill bit did you use to drill the holes for the rain? I’m having trouble with many of my holes not dripping and others just shooting water way too fast. I think I need to make the holes bigger but I’m a little afraid too ^^’ I wanted to know what size you use.
I used 1.5mm bit to make holes.
a simple solution for that is make the hole bigger, cut 1.5 or 2 mm cotton cord in 2 CM and insert it in each holes, glue the one end on drip tray, water will fall like rain. Cotton cord should be 1mm thinner than the size of your drip trays hole
Time to build my own terrarium with rain system! I already ordered all needed materials , I'm so excited to build it my own!!!?
You did it?
Thank for the update!
How often can these gardens be watered? Or how often can the rainfall be left on for and for how long? Thank you so much!
Looks very cool. Thank you for sharing.
Fantástico!!!!! PreciosoGracias 😊🌷🌺
Great ❤❤❤
Как всегда очень красиво !!!
I absolutely Love Love Love this !!!!
Thank you for the update! I am very fascinated with these tanks, they're so perfect! I was very curious about the second one and especially how the ferns would do.
I look forward to the next update!!!
Thank you so much🙂
I'll post next update after few months
@@langdiyHow often do you have to maintain them and do you run the pump/rain 24/7? or is it on a timer for so much a day? thanks
Those things are put perfectly together by hand!
Thank you
@@langdiy NO PROBLEM!
My only question is how long and how often do you turn them on for. Its driving me crazy😭
Can you tell me what are the plants that you have used? Would be very grateful. I'm really impressed.
Selaginella
Rabbits foot ferns
Bladder ferns
Sheet moss
Pilea cadirerei
Wish I could buy one 😮
What a beautiful build. But I have a genuine question : is there a reason to change water ? I mean it's not like in an aquarium and the water is constantly moving (or at least each time you activate the rain mode) so you're not going to have water stagnation. It feels like changing the water slowly remove the clay, dirt and small parts of soil, not even considering nutrients (I guess you give them fertilizer to compensate)
The main reason is to oxygenate the water and prevent fungal and algea growth. Also help the pump to keep working so u dont have to clean It so frecuently...It's not entirely necessary, but it does help keep the plants healthier. Grettings from CDMX
i am going to do in school project
👍
@@langdiy thanks
I challenge you to make a similar one for a Pacman frog, if you can
Does it rain constant or is it on a timer? And if so how long do you let it rain for?
Hello one question ? Isopods , springtail?
Other incects would your terrarium work as a paludarium? In ny opinion it looks like a really smal reptile / amphib
Anyone know is this type of terrarium needs sunlight? or can we use a light? Which type of light are you using here?
This has to be the best so far ive seen on youtube by far.
Can i buy one of you ?
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Really beautiful builds. Great job! Do you uses springtails at all to help with mold?
Thank you, I haven't used springtails, not facing any mold issues so far
@@langdiy excellent, you are controlling it well then! Does the glass ever get foggy, or do your vents prevent that?
Do you run the rain all day or just during different times?
Not all day, I let it rain for 1 to 6 hours a day, sometimes just few minutes to water the plants
you turn off the rain for the night?
Yes.
sometimes I turn it on at night
This is amazing what type of glass do you use to build these and what thickness?
Regular 5 mm glass
i has make 1 with grass drainese
like the big one
just 1 problem, why my water drop is not sync like your's?
Does the sound of water dripping is actually like in the video or is it just an audio ?
What material is the false bottom? Looks interesting
Drain cell
What fertz are u using
what plants did you use?
How long for one rain time and how many on day? Thank you.
Greetings from costa rica. What light do you use?
Normal 8 watt led bulbs
Great work, it really helps to ease my mind. Are you selling it?
Thank you. Not selling currently
do you add springtails or other bugs to help with decomposition?
Haven't added any bugs or springtails
This concept is really nice!❤ I'm going to watch some previous video's about this miniature of yours, But I have a question in mind that once we build this beautiful miniature how many days the plants will survive with good care? What cost will come for building it?
Edit - liked and subscribed 😅
I built it at my home and it cost me 2k+ lots of effort
@@rudrapandey824 oh, thank you ♥️
I hope you answer this,
I want to build this too,but i dont know exactly size for drip tray
Can i know the size? Height x length ?
so im wondering , do you not "maintain them " for like 100 days ? or how does it work i would love to build one just need to know the habbits of these plants
Thanks !
In closed terrarium all it need is just moist environment and light..and as i see, most of the plant is the low light plant..so it is easy to maintain.
Mưa bạn để 24/24 luôn hay sao ??
No, Not more than 6 hours a day
How do you keep your wood on the second terrarium free from molds?
I've not witnessed any molds on the wood so far, I'll spray it off with water if I see any molds
Live springtails is a good method if you're dealing with mold. They're very tiny bugs that will eat mold and decaying organic matter. They die quickly outside of vivarium environments so you don't have to worry about them getting out. Many people include them as part of bioactive setups for reptiles and amphibians, as they'll eat everything from mold, to dead plants, even critter poop!
Otherwise, they said further down in the comments that they keep their rain running about 7hrs a day, all that water movement might keep mold from growing?
How did you create the filtration of the larger terrarium? Is there a video? Please answer me!

@@langdiy thanks
Good job
I want to try it, can acrylic be used or is it better to use glass?
You can use acrylic with minimum thickness of 3mm.
I personally prefer glass
Thank you, I enjoy your content, it helps inspire me :)
can fittonia grow wihtout substrate , can i grow them only on java moss? in this setup
It Won't grow well without substrate and only on java moss
@@langdiy is there any way to grow fittonias without substrate leaving it on the ground where the rain drops above the small rocks? surrounding with java moss
How does that mud just stay up against the glass
does this have springtails in it?
No,
Its that selaginella kraussiana?
Yes
Amazing. Do you have problems with high humidity in your rooms?
No problems
what is the thickness of the acrylic on the top?
2mm
What’s the diameter for the hose you are using in the bigger tank ?
10 mm
@@langdiy thank you !
Is it constantly on?
Not more than 6 hours a day
@@langdiy Ty so much, Im gonna try to recreate it soon. Its beautiful (first time doing a terrarium, lets go big lol)
how long does it rain a day? nonstop ?
Not more than 7 hours a day
hi can i ask u , so the wall from the small terrarium using the cocopeat can it stick for long time or it will fall down ? coz i plan to make one with yours reference
thanks
Yes it will stick for a long time, don't mix more than 20% of cocopeat with the black soil. If possible use eggcrate fish tank divider on walls, it'll help soil from falling off.
So in thx big tank you caption that cocopeat is 60%
So should i use less cocopeat or more ? 😊
Thanks for ur reply by the way
In big tank I used drain cell on walls to prevent soil from falling off, that's why cocopeat was 60%. If you want to attach soil directly on glass like I did on the smaller tank, then cocopeat should not be more than 20%
can you say name of the motor name?? or paste azmon link to buy .it is useful to me
For smaller tank I used, venus 3 watt mini aquarium pump, And for a larger tank i used 9 watt aquarium pump
thank you sir
@@langdiy
Do you keep your terrariums in an air-conditioned room?
Yes
