I must be the only one who preferred - at least at the time - a slower gameplay of Tekken 1 and 2 over a faster combat from later entries. I was playing second game like mad, despite I also had Tekken 3.
As an OG (30yo) fan, yes, it's fucking disgusting. T7 almost killed my interest in the series, the nerfed sidestepping, 2d guests, terrible OST and awful character designs are just the nail in the coffin. At least T8 is a little better, and actually innovates in some ways.

Latest generation of Tekken (on PS5 and XBx) didn't look like Tekken anymore. Too much f*cking "fireworks"/explosions. Looks more like some Marvel sh*t than Tekken

I'm in my 40s. In the 90s, Tekken 2 was one of the best fighting games when I was a teenager. Baek kick Combos was my favorite.
