@@quendi5557 pfft imagine not knowing Electrum is an alloy of equal parts silver and gold! Well, at least it is in D&D. Strangely enough, most people have heard of white gold before and somehow accept that at face value....
I love how previously Ashley's character was a barbarian who everyone found intimidating but was very sweet and now she's playing a character who looks sweet but is actually extremely chaotic.
Yasha: Looks like they could kill you, is a cinnamon roll Fearne: Looks like a cinnamon roll, could kill you Pike: Looks like a cinnamon roll, is a cinnamon roll Presumably her C4 character will therefore be looks like they could kill you, could kill you
It's Marisha (Laudna). Her accent is described as Midatlantic by the Captions, which was sort of a fake stage accent that wasn't natural but rich people and actors, especially in the south would use it to seem fancy. Laudna kinda has a voodoo bayou vibe too.
I like that each campaign kind of has their own color palettes. C1 was lots of dark muted colors a la any movie set in medieval times, C2 was jewel tones mostly seen in skin colors (fjords emerald green, jesters sapphire, molly's royal purple), and C3 seems to be going towards pastels in addition to an already very strong aesthetic, i'm so excited!!!
So before we had: - Grog with Travis´obsession with werewolfs - Fjord with Travis´cat allergy and now we got - Bertrand with Travis tendency to zone out or sleep in long conversations
@@mrbfox1775 This. I'm hoping Travis Actually gets to play as a werewolf, and this character gives me vibes it may be in the works? Bah, wishful hoping I guess.
Yeah but the level difference leads me to believe that either travis (or bertrand) will leave the show for a time or Bertrand is just a fancy NPC before Travis' real character shows up. I mean Bertrand was also a disposable in Search for Grog
Love how when Marisa and Lauren are asked to stay while everyone else leaves, people leave a couple things behind while Travis just snatches everything he owns like he took it personally 😂
Oh yes, Marisa and Lauren, my favourite CR actors, second only to Lettucein and Ashlyn. Of course, I can't dowplay the roles of Lemmy O'Brian and Stan Riegel, as well as Trevor Willingham. 😂
I have a hearing impairment (auditory processing disorder) and though I've gotten familiar enough with their voices that I can understand them better, sometimes I just can't make out what they're saying and the subtitles are so helpful!
The face of Marisha tells everything every time Matt uses another lightning mode of the set. So well earned and proud of her project! I mean, the set is simply amazing and the way they use it seem to be so smooth!
It´s been two weeks since I finished M9. Almost felt like a grieving period of some kind, watching a bunch of fan edits and "best of"´s and just...being nostalgic. Now I´m ready to start catching up on Campaign 3. I feel like it´s gonna be yet another wild ride.
I'm right there with you. I'm still in the story grieving process, I guess, because I'm already irritated at Imogen and Orym for not being Jester or Caleb. *sigh* give me time.
Similarly, Sam said in the set reveal that he didn't mind who he sat next to because, as he said: Its fine, I wear deodorant. Fearne upon meeting FCG: "you smell like pee."
The funniest part about Sam's "Good Smells" joke is 1.) He is a robot with no concept of the innuedo he made regarding his comrades name 2.) Knowing Sam he is talking about a cat
Cats can smell amazing, in the right circumstances. When I first adopted my girl as a kitten, she definitely had a "baby" smell to her. Especially her fat little tummy. :3 One of the best smells.
10:54 I love how Laura came close to hitting Liam in the face and he instantly went through Marisha war flashbacks, the journey through his facial expressions 😂
I love how Laura's character is introduced as this shy woman who seems utterly terrified at the prospect that someone might suspect she's slightly modest.... and then *Marisha introduces a character who is unapologetically walking cackling death pacted to some unholy entity.*
Starting at 2:51:20, the way that joke Sam made spread slowly like a plague across the entire table until they were all losing their minds is truly the best part of my entire week.
"Are you drunk right now, or is this it?" "...Always." I love how Sam was clearly not prepared for the adorable, whimsical, fuzzy cuddle-ball of pure chaos and unrestrained id that is Fearne :-)
@@coreworldbazti1561 i think because she played more in campaign 2 so is more comfortable at the table plus probably had more time to work on it without blind spot being a thing
To be fair "I saw, it was pretty so I took it" is a fair reaction for a fey. They're real into "I wanted to do it so I did it" and I can see why Fearne would be real confused about why it's bad.
My favorite thing so far is that Taliesin went from Caduceus, who said maybe 10 cuss words total, to Ashton, has cussed more than that in the first ten minutes of his introduction.
Well, Percy and Molly swore a lot, that's just the type of characters Taliesin prefers. He likes that brutal friendship. I was surprised when Cad was a mellow natural kind-of-guy. But Taliesin might've been preparing that character for a while and really built on it, and wanted to respect the character. Actually, now that I think about it, Percy didn't swear as much later in the campaign. I think that's just how Taliesin improvises when he's unsure how he wants his character to act 😂
We went from mysterious vibrant Molly to chill wise Caduceus and now....its a literal earth punk who is a "bad boy" vibe yet somehow also that cool drummer type?
I can tell already that Laudna in general is going to be one of the most hilarious parts of this campaign. Marisha is proving to be an endless fount of classic horror tropes and she puts her excellent comedic timing on full display. I'm really looking forward to seeing where she goes as a character.
I watched this live as my first real DND show. It took me a few episodes to realize that I was missing some reference to the first 2 campaigns, so I stopped and watched those first. Almost 2 years later I'm back and realizing there is WAY more than I was aware of! I know I'm really behind, but the wait was worth it!
I salute you! I know a lot of new people do jump in here and seem to enjoy themselves, which is great, but oh wow, you are going to get a LOT out of having that background as this campaign goes on. Shit gets crazy, is all I'm gonna say.
Thanks for mentioning this, I’ve only watched 30 min of this and I’m loving it so far, but was wondering if I should catch up on the old ones first. I’ll do them in order
Since this is all Matt’s own written setting, the campaigns tie together well. 1 is set in Tal Dorei and gets referenced a lot in 2. 2 is set in Wildemount and has a TON of important info for 3, set in Marquette.
I don't play or even know much about D&D, but after seeing multiple funny clips and YT shorts from their sessions, I thought I'd check it out. This was the first time ever see a proper D&D game, and it was so fun I watched the entire 4 hours in one sitting lol. I don't know if most D&D games are like this, or if it's just because they're all good actors and can really get in character and immerse us viewers with them, but I could really picture every "scene" in my head and it almost felt like watching an epic adventure movie or reading a good fantasy novel. I also love that they don't take themselves too seriously, there are so many funny moments, it's great. Ashley's character is probably my favourite, I can't quite tell if she's being sarcastic and chaotic, or if she's playing a kind of sweet and innocent character that genuinely means what she says, but it's adorable and funny and absolutely love it.
Most games aren't. CR is kind of notorious to some for setting unrealistic expectations of D&D. They have an amazing DM, trained actors, people who can do voices and sound effects, years of experience with the game, and a desire for storytelling and roleplay.
@@whitestoneandy797 I'm sure it'll start out that way, and then 50 sessions later we learn the horrible tragic backstories these brilliant motherfuckers have been subtly foreshadowing the whole time. Mark my words, Fresh Cut Grass is gunna make me cry my eyes out at least once.
@@shrubninja6444 Honestly the way FCG has already talked about their past and creation... there's some seriously dark shit in there that FCG simply lacks the emotion to understand.
Finally finished the first two campaigns and am starting to catch up. But HOLY SHIT! The production value is ON POINT this season! The lighting change when they enter Lord Eshteross’ study gave me chills. I’m SO. FUCKING. EXCITED!
his character did actually briefly ship with one of Liams female characters. This was during one of the Vox machina one-shots. Travis just cant fight em off hard enough
I mean... people are obsessed with Jeff Goldblum, who just turned 69, and Harrison Ford, who's 73... and Bertrand Bell is the silverest of silver foxes...
I know Matt is a proffesional voice actor and all that jazz. But god damn that range tho. This man can convincingly go from hulking ogre straight to a kind old lady
i think you could pull it off; the head injury could be simulated with like a hologram stuck to the side of your head, paint your skin green with the gold cracks on the left arm
@@CorvusCorone68 I was thinking of someone building out the head of their costume a little so they could use something holographic to crinkle and stick in the side, yeah
Welcome! While all the campaigns (and oneshots!) are great, I feel like this time around they've really outdone themselves with how quickly and fully they all embody characters and therefore get us attached to them. Which makes this an excellent place to start for new Critters, even if some references to previous world history/campaign events may be confusing at first.
OH you're going to have an amazing time with the second Campaign. There's a lot of "protect at all cost" energy with the characters! Also C2 has an amazing group dynamic. (Heads up: You *will* cry.)
That's when their arc begins. FCG will eventually sacrifice themselves to absorb damage from an ally. Then we get the soul arc and find out what Matt has planned to ressurect a robot.
I adore how when Matt got the first map out, everyone reached forward to touch it. It was the sweetest thing. I missed seeing them all be together for real again
Its crazy to think that 11 months ago I had only heard of d and d in passing and knew absolutely nothing about it in terms of playing it. Now I've binged Campaign 1,2 and Exu and here I am beginning hells bells. I have such a new found love and appreciation for this game and art form/story telling and while I've yet to play a game myself (need friends for that 😆) i just want to say thanks to the CR team for introducing me to this amazing thing.
I’ve just realised that once again, Taliesin has created another character whose Mini will be a nightmare to paint due to that left side that was described.
i'm betting on lot of people learning how to make sillicon prostetics creating a full head cap with tony stark style "hole" covered by a shiny layer to pull this off
Coming in straight from Campaign 2, the music hit me so hard as a major upgrade - - the timing and cues are immaculate and boosted the production quality in a way I didn't anticipate. Major props, so excited to catch up on this campaign!
laura, last campaign: i'm going to tease my husband by awkwardly flirting with him laura, this campaign: i'm going to tease my husband by whispering creepy voices in his head 💜
YES. lol. I was looking for this comment. He removed himself from the equation.... or so he thinks. Maybe someone in the group is really in to silver foxes.
1:09:38 "we might even get into a bar fight" And just like that, Ashton planted the seeds of villainy in Fresh Cut Grass. For you see, that was the moment when the little heal-bot began the first of a sequence of calculations that would culminate over his journeys into a full awareness that his primary directive to heal as many people as he can heal will be best fulfilled by maximizing his supply of people who require healing.
"Catch up crew. Here I stand at the finale of the catch up journey. With C1, C2, many one shots and mini-series, I have arrived at long last to the current campaign. The latest episode on YT as of this post is EP60. Let's see how long will it take." Also, this first episode was just great. I sure read a lot of doom posting about C3 and it felt like half of the vocal fandom didn't like that much. But I feel like I'm going to be the other part that loves it! Campaign 3, here I come!
The same was true for C2 back in the day. Every campaign has different vibes, and a lot of people don't like change. Of course it's perfectly okay to have different favorites or prefer older content, but the very predictable, recurring complaints of "oh noes CR used to be good and now it's shit" is a pretty immature take. They're creative storytellers, of course they're going to evolve and try new things. I'd be disappointed if they didn't! And I try to hold on that attitude even when any one particular offering might not land exactly perfectly for ME, personally. (I've been really enjoying C3, FWIW - some arcs more than others, but that goes for the other campaigns too...)
I'm starting with 76 episodes to go... 😅 Btw, I've heard so many negative comments about C3 too but for me, this is such a much more interesting start than C2! I never really truly got invested in C2, it took me at least 50 episodes before I liked most characters other than Jester and Nott. But I'm loving all of these people already. This is gonna be fun!
here I am and 77 just aired, started in February and I so wanted to catch up to be able to participate on the fandom without fears of spoilers, but now I don wannaaaaa
I love Shadonna already - she must be protected at all costs. Also, Mercer is _scarily_ good at a soft-spoken old lady voice, his vocal range is unbelievable!
Her overreacting with this character is just.... It's rough to sit through. Like the character isn't super awful, but the whole body exaggeration is kinda awful. seems like she is acting like it's a parody...in my opinion...and her intonation... just icky.
I’m 53 episodes into this campaign now but had to come back to this episode to feel the absolute glee that was this first combat. Loving these characters WAY too much 🥰
@@haydenbunn1242 most groups will have slightly less members than CR but this is a pretty standard mix of characters. Different classes, backgrounds, hometowns and an overall chaotic vibe in getting forced together by circumstance. It’s a pretty classic beginning to what will become an inseparable adventuring party!
When Sam starts talking about the others named after smells, it's just a surprise to see how well Ashley, Robbie, and Liam managed to keep their composure when Sam says pussy as a name for a robot.
It's his totally earnest delivery that really sells it. At first I was willing to accept that it was a improvisation that got out of hand, but it turns out (as I learned here) that ALL of those names are slang for woman's genitalia, so this was absolutely a gambit Sam had prepared to whip out at the right moment. What a magnificent chaos gremlin he is.
Me at the end of every CR campaign: No way I will ever be as emotionally invested in a group as this one. Me 10 minutes into every new CR campaign: I need to know everything about these people.
I'll admit, this is the very first time that I absolutely love EVERYONE right off the bat. Some characters I never got into, some had to grow on me, but holy cow, EVERY SINGLE ONE is one that I'm deeply invested in already. I love it so much.
Never bought into any of the C2 characters outside of Knott and maybe Jester. Everything about C2 was too much trying too hard. Seemed too set on being the grandest thing ever. I'm am hour into this C3 E1 and it's showing all the same signs. Not saying any of it's bad per se, just that after C1 blew them up, some bit of the modest & genuine seems to have been sacrificed
@@mattott4274 I see what you're saying but you gotta understand how many hours they're spending as these characters. I think they're being loud/over the top/etc to help them from getting bored.

Yeah, it's clear it really means a lot to them to all be together at the same table.
"Coppers not real money, more of an insult, you can eat them" god that is both accurate and hilarious lol
I eat cans.
“Letters” is a really cute nickname for FCG (Fresh Cut Grass). Ashton and them are such sweet buds I love their dynamic already.
“Your name is just letters!”
“All names are just letters…”
I actually thought he said "lettuce".
@@velianelveli8846 i thought he said Butters😂
*also my very first dnd character is named Velani
Its crazy to think that 11 months ago I had only heard of d and d in passing and knew absolutely nothing about it in terms of playing it. Now I've binged Campaign 1,2 and Exu and here I am beginning hells bells.
I have such a new found love and appreciation for this game and art form/story telling and while I've yet to play a game myself (need friends for that 😆) i just want to say thanks to the CR team for introducing me to this amazing thing.
I’ve just realised that once again, Taliesin has created another character whose Mini will be a nightmare to paint due to that left side that was described.
And to cosplay. 😂
@@mineola_ Check his Twitter, Tal is already drinking the cosplayers tears. He knows *exactly* what he's done ,)
@@MidnightHeir 😂 I'm pretty sure it's his mission by this point. But the people brave enough to attempt it will look dope as fuck though!
i'm betting on lot of people learning how to make sillicon prostetics creating a full head cap with tony stark style "hole" covered by a shiny layer to pull this off
I’m bald. I think I could do this
The music in this episode is simply outstanding.
We're so happy you enjoyed it :)
What is this music?=
@@criticalrole damn a channel reply that's rare
Wow and its from Bardify!!
Coming in straight from Campaign 2, the music hit me so hard as a major upgrade - - the timing and cues are immaculate and boosted the production quality in a way I didn't anticipate. Major props, so excited to catch up on this campaign!

laura, this campaign: i'm going to tease my husband by whispering creepy voices in his head

True love right there
She’s also doing a Southern accent like he was, they are perfect for each other.
I love it so much! Laura is the best!
Laudna: "I'll find more children"
Citizen looks terrified
Me: Wow that could gone better.
Travis straight up said "Laura can't make me do a romance this season if I make myself as old as Chutney."
YES. lol. I was looking for this comment. He removed himself from the equation.... or so he thinks. Maybe someone in the group is really in to silver foxes.
@@majorzipf8947 I hope either ashton or orym is
Is Santa restrained?
One of Liam's character has romanced Bertram Bell before, he can do it again 😂
To be fair, Imogen has tentacles in her brain, so she might not be set on romance this season either.
Hearing Dingo's home game setting being advertised on Critical Role is so surreal.
I know right
Seriously, I just looked at the Kickstart, 9,000% funded.
Imagine how Dingo and Felix feel.
DINGO MADE IT TO THE BIG LEAGUES!
@@foolsgamble3260 I think she's having a heart attack.

And just like that, Ashton planted the seeds of villainy in Fresh Cut Grass. For you see, that was the moment when the little heal-bot began the first of a sequence of calculations that would culminate over his journeys into a full awareness that his primary directive to heal as many people as he can heal will be best fulfilled by maximizing his supply of people who require healing.
Are you one of those clerics who hate healing the party all the time?
I literally just finished creating a cleric who's sadistic, so he heals people just to hurt them again lol
I would be interested to see that
@@ScorpionTamer I have done this as a cleric, but more as a Batman interrogation thing, not out of sadism

"Catch up crew. Here I stand at the finale of the catch up journey.
With C1, C2, many one shots and mini-series, I have arrived at long last to the current campaign. The latest episode on YT as of this post is EP60. Let's see how long will it take."
Also, this first episode was just great.
I'm still trying to figure out if there was closure on the whole missing tittyrack megi thing.
I'm coming into this with 72 episodes to go. It's gonna suck having to wait a week each week.
Yeah, he should, like, do that professionally or something.
@@e.d.5766 Do you think he ever will?
@@FlyingBystander I don't know, it's a pretty difficult industry to get into.
They may be looking for someone to do Overwatch's renamed McCree lines, he could try doing those and see if he fits that character hmm...

I’m looking for it, it was around the start of the furniture fight iirc
I see it's time for Sam to be traumatized by Marisha's flying elbows this campaign
My first thought too!
and Robbie!
Her overreacting with this character is just.... It's rough to sit through. Like the character isn't super awful, but the whole body exaggeration is kinda awful. seems like she is acting like it's a parody...in my opinion...and her intonation... just icky.
@@XxEvolutionxX23 ok
@@XxEvolutionxX23 her posture and body language is one of my fav parts of this character, it brings laudna to life so vividly i love it
I’m 53 episodes into this campaign now but had to come back to this episode to feel the absolute glee that was this first combat. Loving these characters WAY too much 🥰
Hey I’m fairly new to the game is this group accurate to what would happen?
@@haydenbunn1242 most groups will have slightly less members than CR but this is a pretty standard mix of characters. Different classes, backgrounds, hometowns and an overall chaotic vibe in getting forced together by circumstance. It’s a pretty classic beginning to what will become an inseparable adventuring party!
When Sam starts talking about the others named after smells, it's just a surprise to see how well Ashley, Robbie, and Liam managed to keep their composure when Sam says pussy as a name for a robot.
About how many Critters do you think spit their drinks out or had them come out their noses when Sam said "pussy"?
And how completely Matt fell apart.

Matt would be a dream eye witness in a police investigation. Who ever he was describing would be caught before he was finished.
I never thought of it that way but you have a point
Well depends. If he starts by describing the person, yes. If he starts by describing the ambiance and scenery surrounding the circumstance, the offender would be in another country by the time the police can even start looking haha
