Didn't want this clip to end! have just returned from 3 months in Oz, in Victoria. And have seen all the birds shown here. Brought back lovely memories. Thank you so much.
yeh me too! My lorikeets LOVE this! No idea why, normally they hate or have no interest in narated or music background videos, especially of non-lorikeets, but they absolutely LOVE this one & climb out of their cage & try to get to the tv. I even ended up putting one of their long perches, leading from their cage to the tv & they went right across it to see it close. They don't like the Cockatoo's screech, but love the rest
Canadian expat living in Australia for nearly ten years now- the birds here are spectacular; my favorites are the Pied Butcher Birds and of course our iconic Magpies.
Absolutely wonderful presentation. I am an American Falconer and bird watcher. I once spent 6 weeks camping in the outback of York Peninsula. The variety of birds was amazing. If your preservationist culture allowed Falconry I'd move there tomorrow! Great job! Keep up the good work.

I love British birds but damn! The Australiams variety blows them out if the water. If I ever get enough money, I am taking a trip to Australia to document and photograph the birds there!
Hi live vine. I am ex UK, been here 54 years and I never cease to be amazed and fortunate to see our wonderful variety of birds. I live in the country and we do see a lot more than city dwellers, although some suburban areas get some lovely birds as well. Come and see them! Best wishes.
@@jimcrawford5039 I will definitely try my best! Australia is really in my wish list... Hopefully Costa Rica first but to live some where, where Cockatoos are like the common pigeon must be so fun!

You are fibbing. All in one day - wow! Great commentary. I have 100 acres zoned E2 near Cessnock. So many birds. We are the very top block of the Bow Wow Creek catchment (our dogs thought it was hilarious). We have nine gullies/creek heads. Us and the tract below (circa another 20-30 blocks along the creek) are listed on the National Trust and State Heritage Register. Large Permian fossils a few blocks down. There are endangered species, and Environment NSW released 20 endangered Regent Honey Eaters last year but sadly 14 of the monitors have gone silent. They suspect Owls. I want to get to know the birds and their calls. I have a Nikon 400mm zoom and hope to nab some good shots. I have some head and shoulders shots of Eastern Yellow Robins. Thanks again. Liked and Subscribed!
Thanks Doug. Sounds like a great property you have! All bar one were recorded in one hot summer's day. You can track the sun, though clouds rolled in. (One bird - the Gang Gang - was recorded a day or so later.) Cheers!
Very informative and great education for students of nature. A far cry from the Victorian "naturalists" who were more interested in shooting and stuffing wild birds. And naming them after themselves!
Finally identified the one at 2:38! I have one of them that visits my backyard very occasionally starting only last year who I managed to get a photo of but hadn't been able to look up what it is :)
Surely the Yellow Wattlebird is larger than the Red Wattlebird - therefore making the Yellow the largest in Australia. Otherwise a very relaxing well set out video :)
A couple minor errors of misplaced names Yellow-faced Honeyeater & White-eared Honeyeater. But a nice and clearly very productive bird bath. These are all very common birds.
Out of all of them the Magpies are the most naughty ones. It seems like they don't like hats or helmets. Is it a terratorial behaviour or they are always like this?. This behaviour is seen most in spring
They only swoop in spring and only when the female is on the egg after it hatches they tend to leave people alone the golden plover nests on the ground and swoops relentlessly aswell but same as the Maggie only early spring.
Dig out a big dished area on the ground with a flat bottom. Line it with black garden plastic. Mix cement in a wheelbarrow, pour it in. Spread it out with your hands until about 8 cm thick. (you can reinforce it with a piece of chicken wire pressed into the mix until not seen) Allow to set and just pop it out! (I put a spoon of oxide powder in the cement to colour it a bit - looks like rock!) Cheers
Just a rant about introduced birds. Very nice video, no complaints. Love the information provided too, thank you! :) Ugh people seem completely unable to take care of any wildlife and prevent stupid tragedies involving birds. I don't mean to criticize the actual birds, what they do is natural, but the fact that they were actually introduced just makes the entire situation peoples' fault, and no-one cares or notices. Even if people do care, their methods of dealing with these difficulties is absolutely disgusting. Poisoning and mistaking some birds for others and killing them off 'accidentally' is not forgivable. But of course there aren't many that hold up wildlife and birds as an actually important subject. It's way below the stupid fashion scandals or celebrity drama on people's lists of priorities. Of course I don't speak for everyone, but even an idiot could see the obvious bias towards more superfluous and unimportant issues in life.
Do austrilian ppl catch those birds & keep them as pets? Seems kinda odd to have some amazing looking birbs flying around naturally w/ out humans capturing them :/. Or I guess they're just used to them.
I'd rather just watch them in my yard for free. Native birds are protected by law with harsh penalties. But you can buy from some breeders native birds..
