I have to get over the worry of "ruining" a beautiful notebook by using it. They have a purpose and I just need to start writing in them rather than admiring their current state of perfection.
Hi Marcie! I'm just selecting the giveaway winners now and would love to send you a notebook! Just email me at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com with the best address :) (on one condition though -- you can't worry about "ruining" it and have to use it!) x
Way back before smartphones were even, I used a little address book (the type with the letters of the alphabet on tabs) as a "books/authors I want to read" notebook. I made my entries by author's surname, hence the letter tabs being so useful. I kept it in my bag and could take it to libraries and bookshops.
I love how some of these ideas aren't focused on planning but just the joy of writing, collecting memories, favorite things, and new things learned! I've been keeping a journal for language learning to practice both the language I've learned and the one I'm currently self-studying! I was looking for more ideas of what I could include in my language learning journal and I definitely want to try out the brain dump and poetry collection idea!
And those things are surely the things that we live for after all... and you should definitely try the brain dump and poetry collection 😊 I'm glad you liked the video x
I used to write on my diary all the time when I was a kid - dunno how and why I ever stopped. But I picked it up again and recently, and honestly it's been so refreshing. I don't write everyday but still it's such a fun and wholesome thing to do. Reading my old entries (of the few diaries I managed to keep while moving overseas) is like meeting my young-self ^^ Oh, how innocent and fearless I was!
That is the best thing I've heard all day; I read my old diary and am concerned for my mental health since all I wrote about was world domination in scary detail
Just so happy that I watched this video right now. A loved one passed away this week and I was so paralyzed, also by the thought that I might forget certain memories. This just made me realise that it would be so wonderful to have them written down. Thank you, Ruby!
I hope you're okay❤ if you make a book of memories it could be nice to include pictures and memorabilia so that when you look back you feel really immersed in your time with them
All these ideas are fantastic, Ruby. Another suggestion for empty notebooks is to use them for practicing calligraphy, testing stationery products, or writing down pieces of information, songs/soundtracks/classical pieces heard on the radio.
all the notebook ideas! -book logger -book review -bullet journal -book inventory -quotes* -new vocabulary and phrases -favorite words -book of ideas (write down the things you want to do)* -brain dump -recommendations -language learning journal -outfit ideas -gift ideas -question a day* -reasons to be happy* -handwrite poems (as a gift) -tiny notebook to bring on the go -recipe notebook -lessons you learned (every day) -expenses tracker -language book (grammar and vocabulary) -for meeting notes -class notes -project notes -random research notes* -free morning writing (creative writing) -random things notebook -daily journal -address book i might have missed a couple of them because im kind of tired rn but i hope this helped! (the ones i put a star on are the ones that i plan on using btw)
Loved the idea of writing a journal in a foreign languages! Extremely helpful in terms of language progress, and a great way to fill the blank pages of a pretty notebook ^_^
Great suggestions! I still have journals from the beginning of my German language learning journey!.They are so good to look back on and refresh things and reminisce as well. I also carry a notebook everywhere I go and am constantly writing things down! My brain just seems to retain information easier when I write it down.
Ruby I loved this video! I loved all the ideas, I for sure have a loads of notebooks needed to become filled up so I’m so happy you did a video like this! Thank you 🤍🤍🤍
I just have started decoluttering my study space! I found 23 empty notebooks. All of them are so pretty, I don't want to toss a single one. Now I have some ideas how to use them. Thanks so much. Loved this video very much. Greetings from Germany!
I love the idea of a notebook just for quotes! That would be lovely to remember favourite book quotes- or even things someone you know said (like something that made you laugh in a conversation) I do that in a different colour pen in my journal that I write in most days. I also like to press flowers in a specific notebook!
I love the idea of handwriting poetry! I think I'm going to handwrite my favorite poems in a nice notebook and give it to my friend as a gift when her birthday comes around :)
I have a journal where I write letters to people that helped me in some way (any possible manner), at some point of time in my life, in order to thank them. They could be letters to my family, friends, or even unknown people that I do not know, but they influenced me in a positive way. I never really post them to anyone, but when I read through the notebook, i feel the sense of deep gratitude. It is very satisfying, though my habit it may seem odd.
I love the asthetics of this video and the ideas as well and of course her voice is so calming and relaxing.i just don't know I even put her that video where she talks about the books she read last year .I play that video because it's almost one hour long and it helps me to sleep.
Made myself a nice cup of tea, sat down on the couch with a fluffy blanket and my cat, and this is the first video that pops up on my subscription feed. Can this evening get any better?? Thank you for a great video Ruby, your videos are always so wonderful 💛💛
I've got my gift ideas on a page in Notion. It's great becasue I can add to it on my phone on the go when an idea pops into my head. What a fab video. Loved this! x
You always have me at, "Hello, it's Ruby." There's something unique about your videos; It's a comfortable conversation amongst all of us who listen. I am encouraged to think, explore, be more kind and grateful, and rest in the beauty of life. Thank you!
Ruby, the aesthetic and purpose of this video were so on point together! I don't always know what to do with the awkward amount of a few extra sheets left in my notebooks at the end of each semester, except as scrap for essay drafts-- what a great way to fill them up with these neat ideas! As a writer, I develop sentences in my head that just click, for personal narrative writing, at the most calming, yet worst times, as I assume, most writers do: in the shower, brushing my teeth, at the end of an outdoor run, or while cooking. After replaying your video, I just filled one up with all these sentence "quotes" my brain has developed since last fall and.... feel so much lighter!
I do have a lot of notebooks that are partially empty (since the semester is over) , but your video just made me want to write things and implement these ideas wherever I can!
I just started a 'Future Plans' notebook. Right now, I am writing my disertation (while also having lectures and an internship) and free time is very limited. Everything that I want to do, but have no time for at the moment, goes into that notebook so I don't forget. After I graduate this year I will be able to do them all :) It is a good motivation to keep going as well: all the fun moments I will have in the Future!
I totally get this. My me time is around 10pm when I get into bed. I’m a full time carer to my terminally ill husband (that’s a 3am to 10pm job) and I’m also decluttering our bungalow and deep cleaning and renovating it (single handed) and I’m writing my first novel and I’m caring for my special needs dog, and studying for my interior design degree.
I never thought that a notebook can be decorated in these beautiful ways... My goodness!! And that BRAINDUMP idea is totally new to me... Gonna try all of them in this new year!! Ruby, truly you are an amazing human being!! 🥰❤✨
Thank you for all your ideas. I love writing in my diary or in my physical notebook for work and I love all kinds of pens and paper. I can't see myself using notion or anything like that and I think, it helps me to remember things a lot more, if I write it with a pen than just quickly type in notion.
Hello Ruby! I'm a native spanish speaker and your spanish was great I didn't catch any mistakes. I hope you keep learning it, learning a new language is so cool! you get to see the world in a different way, even think in a different way.
I’m so glad to have found this channel! I really liked the custom poetry anthology idea. I too like to plan ahead for presents so I’m making note of this - thanks! ☺️
Hi Emme! I'm just selecting the giveaway winners now and would love to send you a notebook! Just email me at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com with the best address :)
I was having a really rough week at school-this video made me smile. I love your channel ruby-it is such a wholesome, happy channel and has really helped me with studying. Thank you for making me smile :)
This video is amazing, I'll definitely make a book inventory notebook! I wanted to share a few more ideas: A notebook for current favourites (I write up playlists and make lists of favorite things like tv-shows and literally anything else. I date them and it's so fun to look back on my lists!). A notebook for letters that you need to write but don't want to send. A notebook for things you're grateful every day. A notebook for song lyrics important to you.
Omg this came at a perfect time! I've recently gone back to college and I went out and purchased loads of notebooks for studying and I wanted to start journaling too. Now I don't know how to fill up some of them. I would love to win one of Ruby's notebooks, they look stunning!!
I really enjoyed watching this video. I have some empty notebooks kicking around and now I have several good ideas on how to put them to work. I especially like the idea of using one for a second language vocabulary log. Thank you Ruby for sharing!
Also, using your notebooks as gratitude logs is a great idea. I have one like that on my own, and every day I just write down a few things that I'm grateful for. It always makes me so happy to go back and see all of the things that made me smile that particular day 🧡
I love these ideas! In particular, I want to do the question a day one. I find it fun to reflect on my favorite things and how they change throughout the year. 📚
You could have a journal for accomplishments no matter how small! Like getting dressed on a day where you have nowhere to go or eating 3 meals that day if you've been struggling with that. Maybe that day just surviving is an accomplishment.
This video is so useful, I got many empty notebooks that I really want to use and don’t know how , I’ll surely follow at least 8 of your ideias thank you for that ☺️
really enjoyed this video so much! and don't ever feel sorry for promoting your own products. you worked so hard on it and deserve to be proud of yourself
I love all of those ideas and I think I should try to keep track of the reasons to be happy! It could be great to cheer me up sometimes! Thanks for all the beautiful and amazing videos that you share with us! ❤
Such lovely instincts and ideas :) I bought your planner for my wife and she LOVES it. Thank you for all of your videos....love academia, cottage core, well....pretty much everything you produce.
This was so interesting and full of amazing ideas!! I do have some of the lists you mentioned on Notion but honestly the majority part of the time I don't find myself wanting to type so I really wanna start doing write in a notebook!! Thank you so much for the inspiration 📚❤📙🖋
You remind me so much of my sister-in-law who I absolutely adore but don't get to see very often because we live at opposite ends of the country. As strange as this sounds, I find your videos very comforting because it makes me feel closer to her - and of course, I love your content!! You just seem like such a genuinely warm and lovely person, it's so comforting to watch you and be in a little space where there's a kind and peaceful energy! *I left this before you mentioned the giveaway. You do not need to include me in it because I'm working full-time and am very happy/able to support your business :)
Hello !! I have recently started to watch your videos, and I just love listening to your bright ideas and habits that you are sharing with us !! You really motivated me to keep working, to listen to myself and to keep learning !! I am eager to follow your adventures and advices. Thanks for everything!! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦
I was so happy to see this video! I'm always wondering what to do with my notebooks and for some reason the other video of "how to fill it notebooks" just don't work for me! I noted down all these ideas! thanks ruby
This was so useful to listen to while I was writing an essay for my English Compossion class. I have always had a hard time trying to figure out how to use the remaining parts of my notebook at the end of each term or year.
I loved this episode. I put it off for a few days because I thought that it might be a little intimidating, but it was balm to the soul - thank you. My daughter has just discovered her love of notebooks, I'll share this with her.
Hi Theresa! I'm just selecting the giveaway winners now and would love to send you a notebook! Just email me at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com with the best address :)
I would really love those books they seem so good I love you Ruby ur life just inspire me soo much I do wish to live a life like yours one day ur voice is soo calming. I really am always looking forward to your videos. Luv u ruby
Very lovely lists Ruby and love that these ideas are so varied that they may work for all ages and stages and not just students. It is clear a lot of hard work and effort went into the making of this video. Thank you. 🌹
Hi Ruby, Thank you for this amazing video. I love the idea of storing quotes (at 2:21) because I have lots of favourite quotes from some books that I've read. Have a wonderful day Ruby
I loved all these ideas! Altho I’ve already been using the book logger (I have a book journal) along with several other bookish spreads for a little over a year now!
I love your enthusiasm for notebooks, reading , literature . I wish I would have found this channel when I was younger. However, you tube did not exist !
This video is great! 🤗 I just wanted to let you know that your videos are an inspiration for me and are really helping me push through a harder time in med school
this is such a thoughtful video ruby!! i have so many notebooks stored away, and now you have really inspired me to get them down and give them cute little purposes. Thank you so much for the ideas!!!
It's so funny that you uploaded this video today because just yesterday I was considering buying a new notebook to store all my favourite quotes from movies, books, original ones etc and this video was just the spark I needed
One of my favourite notebook activities are writing song lyrics. I have one filled out with Pink Floyd's ~The Wall~ and it was quite therapeutic. It was even used as a "trigger book" for my visual arts project. Another small journal I have is filled with possible future academic articles I want to write. It now includes conference paper ideas.
Thank you Ruby ! Wonderful video ! I also have a notebook where I note my dreams of the night. Believe or not, it reveals a lot of things on my thought and moods of the moment. I will definately use one of my notebooks for beautiful words. It is a great idea !
I love this video so much!💕I do indeed have many empty or half-filled notebooks I don’t know what to use them for. And this video is such an inspiration to finally use them all. The idea I’m probably going to apply for myself is the language learning idea and the random research information idea😊.
I love notebooks and always get new ones. I usually use them for different projects I'm working on or for learning a new language. Thanks for the ideas!
I have heard that a lot of people dream of winning something, getting something for free, without even participating or bying a lottery ticket. I know better, that is doesn't work that way, so here is me trying to win one of those beautiful notebooks to keep track of my readings. Thank you for producing quality content! 😊
Ruby’s mind is golden. Her ideas, intelligence, and perspective on life really is refreshing! Thank you for the video Ruby!
True that 🤩🤩🤩

I have to get over the worry of "ruining" a beautiful notebook by using it. They have a purpose and I just need to start writing in them rather than admiring their current state of perfection.
I have this problem too! I'm addicted to buying new stationery to boost my productivity, anyone else?
Two drawers full of "perfect" notebooks. I need help lol.
Hi Marcie! I'm just selecting the giveaway winners now and would love to send you a notebook! Just email me at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com with the best address :)

Way back before smartphones were even, I used a little address book (the type with the letters of the alphabet on tabs) as a "books/authors I want to read" notebook. I made my entries by author's surname, hence the letter tabs being so useful. I kept it in my bag and could take it to libraries and bookshops.

I never really had a diary before but recently started just writing my thoughts out in a super tiny notebook

Great ideas. I particularly love the use of colour, creative illustrations and added scraps stuck around the page.

A book for random thoughts is sometimes called “A Common Place Book””. I think it is the best name ever.
I really love that! I might have to rename my mini moleskin haha!
I love the name too. I ‘ve read the name dates back to at least the 19th century..

Hi Ruby,
Thank you for this amazing video.

So interesting, there were some things i allready knwe as bullet journal spreads, but also a lot of new ideas. Thanks so much for that :)

It's so funny that you uploaded this video today because just yesterday I was considering buying a new notebook to store all my favourite quotes from movies, books, original ones etc and this video was just the spark I needed
This video makes me really excited to pick up my diary again and get into creative writing. Sending love to everyone!
I love paperblanks so much lol
Wow! What a bunch of ideas! You are full of creativity and light! I love this video 💕
All of them were great ideas!! will definitely do some of them, thank you Ruby for sharing with us 🥰
Watching you write always helps inspire me to keep at my own writing pursuits! Thanks! :)

I have heard that a lot of people dream of winning something, getting something for free, without even participating or bying a lottery ticket. I know better, that is doesn't work that way, so here is me trying to win one of those beautiful notebooks to keep track of my readings. Thank you for producing quality content! 😊
The random things notebooks is a great idea and your daily journal is so much prettier than mine omg!
