    I think this video comes at an excellent time due to one of the recent PBA telecasts. Not everyone understands what urethane actually does and how to use them and not everyone can throw urethane well. It takes talent to throw urethane. Thanks for the info.

      Not so much talent, but knowing how it rolls, WHEN to use it, and most importantly, when to put it back in the bag.

      @JD Nance I know guys that can not throw eurathane and know it. Also, know what and when to use and put away. It's unfortunately a ball that doesn't match up to everyone. Been in this industry for a long time urethane is not for everyone. Ask Sean Rash lol.

    it is amazing how insane the Urethane thing has gone.. love the how to use it. Well you drill it the way you like, throw it, adjust fine the line and bowl. its how we did in the 80s with the Hammers and the Columbia Udots. people that say Urethane sucks have either never tried it or tried to throw it like the nuke bombs being made today and cant score. Just throw it adjust and go from there. its not rocket science

    I loved this vídeo, keep it up Justin💪 I would like to see some left handed tips‼️ How to control revs, when you have slow speed or opposite for does with high speed and low revs.
    What is the difference between both and what balls to use FOR EITHER LEFT/RIGHT HANDED.

    I grew up at the end of the urethane heyday. A lot of younger bowlers don't understand that you throw reactive but you roll urethane. By "letting it hook" or being softer with it the revs and speed match up faster and let's the ball roll through the pocket. You nailed it with playing the fronts and mids. Rolling objects have more friction through the pins (carry power) than sliding objects!

  • @travishanson166
    @travishanson166 Рік тому +2

    I just let my urethanes fall off my hand with a gentle swing, steady feet. Otherwise they hook 2x or never move. They actually get down the lane faster with more power the softer i am.

    I had the Purple Hammer, but I was in 7 pin heaven!! LOL.. Then I switched to the UC3 ( IF that counts as urethane) and it hooks more to taking out that 7 pin!!

    • @Fejix87
      @Fejix87 Рік тому

      You switched from urethane to a reactive ball and got more ball reaction. Not surprising. UC3 isn't real urethane.

  • @Fejix87
    @Fejix87 Рік тому +2

    I've had much better luck drilling urethane with 5in pin to pap distance vs shorter (3.5-4.25) in. I don't know if it's my roll but my urethane balls would go straight back and roll out with stronger layouts vs now I'm getting much better shape at 5+in pin to pap

    Playing straighter is by comfort zone, because I’m more of a speed dominant bowler. Even the strong reactive balls don’t shape that much for me. Would urethane be a good option since the line is where I’m already comfortable playing and I can be just fine with straighter angles?

    What would you consider a "strong layout" to be? Like a 3.5 - 4 inch pin to pap distance instead of 5? Something like 55 x 3.75" x 40? After trying many different things since switching to 2 handed, my normal go to layout is 60 x 5" x 30 on everything.

    I love how much information there is for bowling balls and bowling in general out there, but for someone who knows next to nothing about what all these different terms mean, nobody ever really seems to explain it. Like what the heck is drilling "strong" or "weak?" I know that the layout changes the way the ball reacts, but I've heard mixed opinions on what kind of layout does what.

    I have the purple pearl hammer urethane and I am a like it but I am not on my god love it. And it is drilled with the creating the difference control layout is 60x4-3/4"x 30° but I bowl on old wood lanes with burned up oil from the league before mine and I use 3000 trucut on it and I am forced to throw to 5 while standing 20-25 with my feet but I love my overseas magenta hammer urethane better . Weaker layout and 500 trucut and I have more control and more confidence in it then my purple pearl hammer urethane. But soon I am getting the Columbia 300 blue beast urethane to be my strong urethane so I can save the purple pearl hammer urethane for more oil . Plus my proshop operator pba / USBC hall a famer Dave husted and his son Corey husted said I have enough hand to make it really hook and have a lot of motion. But i prefer the magenta urethane hammer so I can get loose and free wheel it .

    So I know your playing on a short pattern but I am your standard house shot league bowler and what I'm interested in is controling cliffed lanes, the first game in league is usually the best game. The oil pattern is nice and blended and a reactive ball has good controllable motion but as the night goes on at some point that nice blended oil pattern becomes a cliff wouldn't a good strategy be to go to a urethane ball to help blend out the wet dry and not be forced to far left ?

      dedicated spare ball (plastic obv).
      flatten wrist out and zero rotation.
      during the pre-shot routine, visualise a straight line from your laydown, to first target, to pin 10 before stepping up. keep that image in mind whilst you're getting ready.

      i told my son, if anyone complains about him throwing urethane just stick an open hand out and tell the person "sure i won't use urethane when you buy me a new ball, pay me for my practice and pay for my league fees", other than that, who cares what people think, in challenge and sport shots, urethane helps more than it hinders, on a house shot, who cares the whole lane is wide open, unless you throw like buttruff, your lines are tighter and if someone can't find a line on a THS, that's what they get for being a house hack.

    Tip #3, i was on the waiting list when the original Fab black Hammer came out.
    Ive used 180 & 220 sandpaper wetsand and a spinner to get surface
    Also urethanes are very easily controlled right from the approach and as they are crossing the foul line to get that last bit of guidance before rolling toward the intended target.
    Just make sure your ball track and the oil line are contacting the pins. (Not the axis point)

  • @nordattack
    @nordattack Рік тому +1

    Tip #1: I totally disagree with. I have two Purple Hammers. I drilled one strong and it rolls so early it has zero backend and just goes straight as an arrow with no side to side motion at all. If I want to get it to the pocket I have to close my angles down completely and roll it perfectly direct. It is just a spare ball. I drilled a second one weak and it retains a ton of energy, reads the midlane and is continuous through the lane with control and allows me to shape it if needed. Misses to the outside with the weak one will recover while the strong one will never even try to get back.
    Tip #2: Depends on the condition. On lighter house shots Purple needs to be at 2000 and above to allow it to be played without dying out. On sport shots lower grit is good and for flooded house shots. Since the best way to play urethane on house is from the outside, you will want to match the grit to the house. Purple is very, very strong and can burn up very quickly with too low a surface grit unless you have very high ball speed.
    Overall though an enjoyable video.

    • @bowlingxp8345
      @bowlingxp8345 Рік тому +3

      This is most probably because of the low speed you have Nord. For example a speed dominant player would probably be better off with a strong drilling than a weak. Also keep in mind drilling accounts for roughly 10% of ball reaction in general.
